Ahhhhhh - no. This is a Signature Restaurant offering stunning, and more expensive, offerings. It won't be for everyone.....
No, it's Disney trying to make every penny they can for a mediocre meal! There hasn't been a memorable meal served in WDW for a long time. The meals now are just overpriced generic foods that you find almost everywhere in America. Disney quit caring about making the dining experience special and started worrying about the bottom line instead.

Acronyms have been going crazy around here lately...

DCP? Whatever happened to just "CP"?

Or it's DL name...VL

It's my understanding (as someone who is in the intern program, but not a CP) that DCP is generally used to refer to the program itself, whereas CP is the individual. So you participate in the DCP, but you are a CP

Are they going to attempt to make Jafar a talking character because that would be awesome!

I know I'm getting a bit OT from the news and rumors thread - but I just don't really get this. I have been going to Disney for almost 20 years now, and in my view the quality of the food overall has changed very little.

(a) The standard Table Service meals are decent and adequate. Some are better than others. None qualify as "fine dining". in 1997 for instance we ate at Coral Reef, and the food was mediocre. It has remained mediocre anytime we've eaten there. We just ate on this last trip at San Angel Inn for what I believe is the 4th time in 30 years (I've eaten there once in the '80s, '90s, '00s and '10s), and I thought the food was good on par with what I've had before.
(b) The Signature restaurants - at least the ones I've tried (California Grill, Jiko, Yachtsman's Steakhouse) - are excellent and I WOULD call them "fine dining" if it were not for the kids everywhere in the restaurants. While not everything is to everyone's taste, the food in general remains at a very high standing. They are overpriced certainly, but most fine dining is. We've been to Yachtsman's 3 times in the last 3 years, and LOVED it each time - quite honestly one of the best steaks we get anywhere.
(c) QS dining at WDW is hit and miss, but in general is above grade for your average theme/amusement parks. Some things are so-so, some things are good, some are great. And also while some things have slid in quality, others have increased...I've noticed that the QS restaurants have in the last few years replaced there horrendous "individual serve pizzas" with what they now call "flatbread pizzas". at least in some locations. These are a HUGE improvement over what you used to get around the world.

So - my opinion on WDW: There's good food to be found - you just have to know where to look.

It was a general tongue in cheek (with a hidden inside joke that many "cp" may not
Even get today)...because the acronyms go crazy here. Not everything is suitable/needs an abbreviation.

Study hard...just say no, kids. ;)

The food is not
Quite as good...

The menu variety isn't nearly as good

And the price/ value of the table service is way down. Sorry...what you are being charged does affect the dining experience... Even on an Intenal coupon plan.

That's where I'm at, Pete

And brown derby, flying fish, citricos, narcoosees, yachtsmans, and many items at the others are all priced as "fine dining"...they aren't terr quality wise.

Well if the standard for comparison is other amusement parks then you're setting a very low bar. I mean you wouldn't think it was possible to screw up chicken nuggets, but...

I think one of the areas where Disney food offerings look weak is how samey most of the buffet and character dining options have become.

Personally if I want genuine "fine dining" I'll stay at home. There's no shortage of actual fine dining around the DC area if that's what I'm looking for (whether it be steaks or sea-food). Price wise that probably won't actually be much cheaper than Disney dining, but the quality and service will be on a different planet.

So if the standard isn't other theme parks, what do you expect it to be?

OK - maybe comparing it to Six Flags or something is a bad move, but what should I compare to? I'm not comparing it to eating off the Champs De Eylsee in Paris, right?

Maybe Universal, Sea World, and Legoland are apt? I haven't been to those as often, but I'd much rather eat at Disney than any of those parks.

I'm right there with you...

Generally speaking...I've learned that many people in the US aren't exposed to that much good food- overal. Perhaps some regional specialties.

That's mostly a geographic thing.

How do you know if your in a "bad area"? Look at your local papers annual "best of" section and if "five guys" shows up on the "best burger" list...or the words "pizza hut" "papa johns" or "dominos" show up anywhere in the top 50 of "best pizza"...you're there.

See here that's the problem...

By all means we should compare it to six flags or universal...

But the pricing has gone to a point were you really have to compare with good metro/surburban food.

The prices have double in about 12 years...I know it because I have things like that burned in my useless grey matter section...but look at it if you don't believe me.

The response I get usually is "it was too cheap before"

Bubka on the food...it's just simple glut that slid in under the dining plan...not "normal inflation"

Plain and simple. Which means diehards...not saying I'm one...have begun to shift their consumption and everyone else is simple getting screwed.

My opinion...don't bother with the "I think it's worth it!! Magic, dammit!!!" counter...I'll concede it.
