This will be the final year for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.

Totally bummed about this...this is one of the most spectacular experiences I've ever witnessed...unbelievable
- beautiful - absolutely amazing. If you weren't in the Christmas Spirit before seeing this, you certainly were afterwards! So sad.

Many changes coming to my beloved WDW as they end some old favorites to make room for new and exciting attractions, but to me, this is one I will miss terribly. I just hope that whatever they replace this with is anywhere near the total immersion of color, music and shear joy and beauty of this spectacle.

"In order to prepare for some incredible experiences coming to the park, including the recently announced Toy Story Land and a Star Wars-themed land..."

Yep, that was perhaps my biggest takeaway from the whole post. Something else is coming, Toy Story Land and SW Land aren't everything. "Including"

I'm going to be down there from like the 19th to the 23rd. Maybe I'll drop in and see them. I've never gotten to.
totally agree
that was the biggest takeaway for me

More from Jennings' son-in-law, Tristan Wingfield:
We hope you'll join us for one last hurrah, before the streets go dark. And don't worry I'm sure Disney will fill the void with something equally as magical as the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights was for the last 20 years!

That's a real shame. My absolutely favorite thing at Disney World during the holiday season. We may be down next year for the holidays and will definitely miss this.

That said, it is a nice confirmation that there's probably at LEAST a third, unannounced land coming to DHS. My money is still on Carsland, though if I were in charge - I would turn the Streets of America into Metroville and have an Incredibles-land.

I love that they are all staggered as well. This way they'll always be something new opening up, much like Universal.

It is sad to see the Osborne lights leave WDW. I lived in Little Rock for a little bit growing up, which is where the lights came from. I remember when the Osborne family contributed their lights to Disney, which happened to be the first time that I went WDW for XMAS in 1995. I almost just want to book a 3 day trip to see the lights one last time.

With that being said, I do think there will be more then Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land. I think there may be a small expansion of Muppets. I would think Pizza Planet will close down or move to Toy Story Land. A cars themed land is possible. I really think that there may be a strong chance to turn the Streets of America to a Monstropolis. I feel like Hollywood Studios is going from going behind the scenes of movies to actually being in movies.

My favorite thing in WDW period. If Disney really has no plans to replace them in the future, Universal could make a big holiday grab by making something like this of their own. Putting them in Diagon Alley would be amazing. But wherever they put them, they could make it a hard ticket even since they always close around 6 or 7 before it gets dark anyway.

At this point most of the speculation has Star Wars pegged for Echo Lake area and Toy Story land for maybe half of the Backlot Tour.

Which leaves the other half and say... Lights, Motors Action as a prime spot for another land.

Great idea.

Although leave DA alone IMO-but the "studio" blocks of buildings nearby would be very similar and work perfect IMO.

No way Rowling would agree to hosting the lights in Diagon.

C'mon. We all know what the 3rd new land for DHS is going to be. Is everyone just afraid to say it?

Arendelle!!!

I almost put that in me guess post - I would totally believe it was in the plan. They may just holding back to be sure the popularity remains high to justify it. (I know people think Disney is overdoing Frozen, but a lot of what they've done - outside of Norway - is 100% replaceable very easily... I think they are very hesitant to go whole hog on an Arendelle land - which is why I consider Cars the most likely contender. They are going to stick with an IP they consider evergreen. Toy Story has been around for 20 years and has never really waned significantly in popularity. Star Wars likewise is almost 40 years old and as popular as ever. Cars has been around for almost 10 years, and the Carsland in California is only 3 years old. I could see them waiting a few years to give California the exclusivity a while longer, and then in 2017 announce Carsland as the new land. They could also wait the two years to see if Frozen continues to hold up, and certainly go with that. Either way, it's got to be an IP they have long-term confidence in.

Nothing against the lights...but this is excellent news for wdw

Woah - Mr. Positive. Are you OK? Fever?

I've got to say that I'm much more disappointed to hear about these guys leaving than Osbourne Lights. Not that it matters in the end, but I wonder who's decision this was- theirs or Disney's.

Interesting but I think the issue here is how little free space is going to be available in this park shortly. If they are really going to start on Star Wars land next year, you well could see that whole back end of the park shut down. It's going to be an interesting couple of years at DHS.

Oh, and very unlikely this was their decision.

I think a Cars/Pixar addition is more likely than Arendelle. I mean, what can they build to justify two rides based on the same property but in completely different parks, especially if one of them has a whole land built around it?

I was thinking of Guardians of the Galaxy, but in reality it's a bit too similar to Star Wars thematically speaking. Also, let's remember that Disney is trying to revive some interest in both Muppets and Indiana Jones. They might be waiting to see the potential of those properties before taking a decision.

Disney could see Malestrom as a "temporary" Frozen fill in. Obviously Disney temporary can mean 10 or 15 years (One Mans Dream and the Hat). I wouldn't be surprised if a Frozen land is being thought about, but I am also not expecting it. On wdwmagic a couple of them are saying there is a phase 4 that is really far away and might not happen at all. Now I wouldn't count on a phase 4, but if there is a phase 4 Frozen would make sense. That would be about 10 years away and at that point it should be known if Frozen has staying power. The Frozen Maelstrom ride would also be 10 years old by then and Disney could end up swapping that out again.

Agreed.

Needs to go here IMO:
