I really think that they can easily retheme the Chester and Hester area of Dinoland to Good Dinoasur.

Yeah, they did what they could with the budget they had. The parking lot carnival story makes sense. It's just that visually speaking, it's not on par with the rest of the park. Let's hope Good Dinosaur brings some re-theming to the area.

Speaking about animated features, here's the first teaser trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studio's Zootopia. Can't wait!

There's no doubt on was done on the cheap, but still, I'm impressed at how well they themed it. There are people that think it's actually built on an old parking lot.
And Joe rohde has talked about how they used an aged concrete technique to do that.
Come on guys. Giving them credit for designing beautiful garbage is allowing them to escape blame unscathed. There's got to be a middle ground between total crap and incredible Art. I don't understand how you can be so forgiving. Allowing them off easy is an insult to the rest of the park, which is a beautiful environment. Holding the designers (even Rodhe) responsible ensures that something that bad never happens again.

The one other terrible roadside amusment park that WDI created in the late 1990s (actually 2001, but close enough) was over at Disney California Adventure. Actually to some extent the similarities between the two lands is amusing or scary. That whole area is now in Yesterland.
For example:
http://www.yesterland.com/sunglass.html
http://www.yesterland.com/mulholland.html

I look forward to the day when it joins yesterland too.

In short...
1)This never should've happened small or big budget alike. Any excuses fall short.
2)This should not still exist.

One thing at a time I guess. Camp Minnie mickey is finally gone now we can hope for Dinoland. Again I'll say that this land has a great attraction in Dinosaur.

I'm not allowing them to escape unscathed. As I said, there's no denying it was done on the cheap.

That being said, they could have just bought some carnival rides and plopped them down on a cement pad. But they took the extra effort to make it look like a real side-of-the-road attraction. I get peoples complaints that it's very mundane and they can see similar things 20 minutes from where they live. But I'm sure there are some guests that can drive 20 minutes from their home and see something that looks just like Harambe Village.

As far as "designing beautiful garbage", yes I can appreciate the difference between "actual garbage" and "creating something that looks like garbage".

Alright, difference of opinion. You loose me here though...

Applauding their well designed parking lot pavement is ill directed when that parking lot pavement shouldn't exist at all.

It sounds like you want to say "if you encourage their bad behavior, theyll just keep doing it".

I just appreciate it for what it is.

Maybe you'll agree with this a little more. I don't blame them for building Dinoland the way they did. Rohde went way over budget. So while some areas of the park are magnificent, others got short changed as a result. But I think Dinoland could have turned out a lot worse than it did. However, ill agree that too much time has passed and too much money has been made for it to be the same as it was.

Seriously? Lmao, we knew this would happen eventually, but I never thought DL's SW land would be announced before WDW's. I love DL, but DHS needs it more right now. Hopefully they'll announce WDW's version as well. And I'm curious about that Marvel area.

New land and new area where, in DCA?

As for DHS ... that's some extreme deliberation there.

I'm with reddog on this one. The area is probably one of the worst in all of Disney World - but that doesn't diminish the level of detail that the imagineers managed to inbue in it anyways - such that it IS worth looking around to see what they did. There's actually THREE levels of theming within Dinoland. (The scientists of the Dino Institute, the students that live in the area of the institute, and then the roadside attraction area that sprung up nearby.) In addition, Dinoland is full of plant species that were around 63 million years ago. That's a nice detail that only botanists would notice.

Where's this coming from? I think you've ruined the day for me. Can't say I'm surprised just saddened.

Marvel area not even really news - that's planned behind Tower of Terror in DCA. The rumors Star Wars land location is Toontown, though I wonder how that'll work in that they have to close toontown for the fireworks.

I CANNOT believe they can go any longer without announcing something for DHS. Even without details, they gotta say SOMETHING.
