News Round Up 2020

We will probably watch it later. Hubby used to be an Aerospace Engineering major, so he's a big space nut, in addition to a regular nut. I loved the Apollo documentary last year; it was so beautiful.
He used to be an AE major? Does that mean he was a pre-business major? ;)

Actually, it means he would have ended up a software engineer. At least that's what happened to all of the AEs I knew. He moved to Electrical Engineering, which is where we met.

The whole slide or just the clown face? I love that slide, including the clown. A big reason I'm thinking about buying in at BWV.

Looks like just the clown face.

I dunno if I can roll my husband and daughter out of bed that early for AK on Monday, but we’ll try! My son is up at 6AM no matter what - the annoying, peppy, “hi Mommy, I’m hungry!” kind of awake at 6AM! LOL

My kidswere like that ... T'was a glorious day when the oldest got to the point she could make cereal for all of them and leave us sleeping

yeah, definitely woudl think by making this "official" they can save money on retained performers, etc.

Also I am sure these shows would not reopen for a long time even after the park opens in general and by then they likely would want to rework things anyway. So end this, let the connected people go, and then eventually (2-3 years from now) bring back something new
Mickey and the Magical Map is performed in an outdoor theater. So I’m a little surprised it was cancelled. That one easily could come back sooner than later, I would think.

With the reopening of Frozen Sing-Along, I think Disney demonstrated that the viability of a show has more to do with social distancing for unmasked performers than it has to do with the actual theater

I'm not sure that's the case as Kona Cafe is currently open even though the resort only has DVC rooms open. If they can open Kona Cafe then I'm holding out that they can possibly open 'Ohana too. Since it's a restaurant that pulls in a lot of guests and reservations are hard to get, I don't think they would have trouble filling reservations even with most of the resort closed.
I agree, especially since Kona reservations are harder to get right now than The Wave or Grand Floridian Cafe, at least for my November 8th trip. I'm hoping to get to-go food from Kona since I couldn't get a dinner ADR.

Is there a thread to follow around here in case they extend the Park Reservation system beyond September of next year? We have an October trip for 2021 and I'm nervous I'll miss the opening of those dates if they extend. Do y'all think it'll show up here in the news thread, or should I watch elsewhere?

There is this "news only/no comments" thread that I am sure will cover it https://www.disboards.com/threads/disney-parks-and-resorts-reopening-updates-news-only.3802762/

I also suspect it will get discussed approximately 8,672 times on all threads ;)

And if all else fails I am sure I will post about it as I have a trip booked for Sept 29-Oct 3 2021 and I am super interested in knowing if reservations will be in place - specifically for Oct 1st :D

Ha! Yes, I'm sure it'll be several places, I'm just over-eager and a bit nervous (not a great combo)! That's our dates too, so hopefully we'll be in the same vicinity. Our reservation is at Port:FQ, so I'm watching for news on that hotel re-opening as well. Here's to news... hopefully we'll see it quick enough to do what needs to be done. lol

We are currently at Caribbean Beach - depending on my financial situation I might try to upgrade to something on the monorail, but glad to at least have something set!

Great that they are open more hours but I can imagine some people not aware and will miss rope drop tomorrow
We were at AK yesterday and made the new rope drop. I thnk a lot of people did miss it. I would have except I happened to be checking MDE for an ADR Saturday evening when I saw the park hours refresh. I looked the first time and they said 8am-6pm. The screen refreshed and there was 7am-6pm.

It's dark here at 7am!
