News Round Up 2020

I'm trying to figure out how they could determine if this was feasible for every guest unless they find that the virtually all the masks fly off of the employees. People here at least are wearing masks of all different fits, shapes and sizes. There's no control there to ensure that the mask someone is wearing in the park can withstand upside down and high speeds without flying off. Some people wear ones with ties, some around the ears, some are just bandanas and scarves, etc.

None the less though it's nice to see a coaster running at this point :)

Good luck with that policy. I think if you're getting on a high speed roller coaster, you just need to know there is a risk you're going to be flying through air someone else might have breathed out. And some people are going to remove them the second they are out of the station. And many others will probably fly off. Like you said, I hope they are testing it with a variety of mask types.

I've ridden rides at WDW with my hat on and not lost it. Then rode it another time and it flew off. I've lost one on Splash and Everest. A properly worn mask probably won't fly off most rides, but on something like Mako loose and makeshift masks certainly will. So just because you personally have ridden a ride with a hat and not lost it, and a mask should in theory stay on easier than a hat, that doesn't make it so.

Meh the clear bag policy doesn't phase me. We have had a clear bag policy in place at our NFL stadium for quite a while now (for concerts and sporting events), and most places sell bags that are tagged as "meets clear bag guidelines". When it's a standard and everyone is in the same boat, you don't even really notice. Nobody is peeping what's in everyone's bag, they're too busy focusing on the event they're coming to see.

The versatility of things I need for an entire day at a theme park is way different from what I need during a 3 hour game where I am sitting in the same place the whole time and not carrying the bag. I personally have never taken a bag into the 100s of college football games I've been to, because I don't need anything. I go bagless at parks as much as I can. But when I do bring on, it's the perfect bag that fits things just the way I like, slips into ride vehicles easily without bothering me, and is comfortable to carry.

It's not that the policy phases any of us, least I don't think so because we're well used to it now, it's the concept of only allowing clear bags (if that was the route) which is distinctively different than other places which may call it their clear bag policy but allow other items (check your NFL stadium rules). No one seems to be expressing surprise at clear bags though just the idea of only allowing (if that were the case).

Using your NFL example this is from my NFL stadium which is called the Clear Bag Policy:
495645

The wording isn't necessarily clear if they would just have you put your items in a clear bag to be more easily inspected and then you can put your items back in your own bag or if they would more use only clear bags period. I think it's ok to discuss this :) as it would def. change things for anyone going to the parks though of course it's speculation at this point as it came from a recommendation source for what to do not that it would be what Disney actually chooses to do.

I should note that whenever I've been to places there's actually not a huge percentage of people utilizing clear bags, oh there's some but not 100%.

I really hope not. It will make visiting the parks much trickier. What about things that have specific cases like camera bags? Can you put bags inside the bag? That will also make lost and found fun. "Can you describe your bag please?" "It's clear."

Honestly we have of late discovered the pleasure of "no bags" in the park. I can see where many people would be upset with this. Especially with small children that pack about 50 lbs of food and diapers - but I think we will find a way to make it work.

A new era.... I can’t wait til I don’t have to worry about my kids spilling an entire slushy down themselves and needing an extra set of clothes!

I am amazed at how many people bring their house with them into the parks. I never bring more then a waist pack with my keys, wallet and cellphone.

Really just depends on the person and the length of time you're planning to be at the parks. I usually bring a small backpack with a filtered water bottle (I'm too cheap/too lazy to buy water bottles and I like to stay hydrated), along with ibuprofen, blister bandages, , tissues, ziploc bags (for water rides), a phone charger and occasionally a granola bar or two. I think a lot of others bringing more is excessive, but I realize a lot of people would say the same about me.

I carry the same stuff I do all the time plus some extra bandaids. Wallet, phone, portable charger, umbrella, pens, chapsticks, Aleve, lady stuff, small brush, small mirror, and maybe some snacks and a camera. All fits in my purse.

When I went by myself last summer I had insulin and needles in one cargo pocket, emergency food and wallet in the other, phones in my regular pockets, that’s it.

When I went with my kids last fall we had 2 overflowing backpacks between my wife and I and extra water separately at the bottom of the stroller. So I both over and under pack compared to you.

I wish he would have asked about hand washing in a restaurant. I don't want to wash my hands before taking off my mask. I would like to get seated, take mask off, go wash hands, eat, etc. If I wash before I sit and then take off the mask my hands will be contaminated. And no using hand sanatizer isn't a good trade off when there is a bathroom right there to wash my hands in

I am surprised he went since they have both been pretty adamant in other videos they would not be going to Springs or the parks when they open. Just goes to show, people’s opinions on this change over time. Polls from 3 weeks ago will look different from today. And that’s ok. People are allowed to change their minds.
He did say that there was only about 20 of them there and they had different times to go in. Disney did invite him which probably made a difference.
