I'm trying to figure out how they could determine if this was feasible for every guest unless they find that the virtually all the masks fly off of the employees. People here at least are wearing masks of all different fits, shapes and sizes. There's no control there to ensure that the mask someone is wearing in the park can withstand upside down and high speeds without flying off. Some people wear ones with ties, some around the ears, some are just bandanas and scarves, etc.
None the less though it's nice to see a coaster running at this point![]()
Good luck with that policy. I think if you're getting on a high speed roller coaster, you just need to know there is a risk you're going to be flying through air someone else might have breathed out. And some people are going to remove them the second they are out of the station. And many others will probably fly off. Like you said, I hope they are testing it with a variety of mask types.
I've ridden rides at WDW with my hat on and not lost it. Then rode it another time and it flew off. I've lost one on Splash and Everest. A properly worn mask probably won't fly off most rides, but on something like Mako loose and makeshift masks certainly will. So just because you personally have ridden a ride with a hat and not lost it, and a mask should in theory stay on easier than a hat, that doesn't make it so.
