News Round Up 2020

require clear bags for touchless inspection......so much of this is starting to feel like $$$
Around this area, if you haven't already gotten a clear bag for other venues that demand it since 911 and Vegas, etc...., then you are behind the times. But, if my wife has to use them instead of one of her many Dooney's, she might need a time out.

Every place I've gone it's not just a clear bag as your option. I've been to football, soccer, baseball and college level basketball games never with a clear bag but with something else that works under the guidelines. Only a clear bag allowed would be interesting for Disney to do.

I've never seen a clear bag policy that didn't also allow a clutch.

Same. I've never been anywhere that requires a clear bag.

I really hope they don't do that. I have things that I dont' want people seeing in my bag all day. IF they go to the clear bag I wonder if we could put our things in a ziploc to take out of our other non clear bag for security so they can easily see it and then put that back in our normal bag.

Also I typically use a fanny pack. I've never seen a clear one of those.

This all really just goes back to hand washing. Wash your hands and there shouldn't be a problem! The sun and heat will quickly take care of killing any germs on your bags (under a minute) So by the time you get into the park and wash your hands the virus will be dead on your things (anything over 77 degrees kills the virus)

Plus clear bags are usually plastic, which would be sticky and gross in the heat and humidity in FL all day.

The way I read the clear bag guideline it seemed more like they would provide a clear bag (like one of the ones you get for purchases at a gift shop) and you dump your purse/backpack/etc into it before security checks it. Once through you can put everything back in your bag of choice.
The clear bag policies that everyone else are referring to are for security reasons, this is for health reasons, that's why I am thinking it may be different.

Huh that is interesting. I found the official IAAPA page with the guidelines (https://www.iaapa.org/reopening-guidance-considerations-attractions-industry) and I think the thing to note is that these are considerations/guidelines and not requirements. Some venues may choose to do more or less.

I didn't read the whole thing since it's 36 pages, but it's definitely good insight on what might be required when the actual parks open. I think it's interesting that they recommend against temperature checks as the primary health screening, which I totally agree with. I have to get my temp checked when I go into work each day and it consistently reads 95. If that were accurate I should be experiencing onset hypothermia each morning.

yeah - the temperature checks are going to be worthless - especially in the summer sun of Florida. Good chance every other person measures as "sick".

Lol its funny with the clear bag policy will push back Disney Green policy. Plastic straws and making you pay for a non plastic bag for purchases, seems much less important now if Disney is going to be giving out plastic bags for you to empty your stuff into.

This has happened locally too. We have several towns that have had plastic bag bans in place for some time. Now, we are not allowed to bring reusable bags for the foreseeable future. I'm sure they will return to the green policies when the time is right - I think it's a great initiative.

See through bags aren’t necessary if there are xray machines, like what Universal has. That’s more sanitary anyways, except for the few people who require a secondary, hands-on screening. It is discouraging that so many of the changes we’ve started to make as a country to reduce our environmental harm are being thrown out the window now.

SeaWorld testing with employees and masks, not sure who Midway Mayham is but good to see.
I'm trying to figure out how they could determine if this was feasible for every guest unless they find that the virtually all the masks fly off of the employees. People here at least are wearing masks of all different fits, shapes and sizes. There's no control there to ensure that the mask someone is wearing in the park can withstand upside down and high speeds without flying off. Some people wear ones with ties, some around the ears, some are just bandanas and scarves, etc.

None the less though it's nice to see a coaster running at this point :)

I am wondering if Universal will have any changes to their procedure. I've typically preferred their way of doing it anyways and don't necessarily see any reason to change their procedures at least not ones I can immediately think of. For a guest standpoint it's a fairly simplified process.

Seeing as how the vast majority of the bags Disney sells aren't clear, I don't see that being a recommendation they choose to follow. You can sell a lot more bags that people can use all the time than bags they will only use for certain venues.

I really hope not. It will make visiting the parks much trickier. What about things that have specific cases like camera bags? Can you put bags inside the bag? That will also make lost and found fun. "Can you describe your bag please?" "It's clear."
