News Round Up 2020

Wonder how he actually got on the island. I know In the past people have swam out to the island. Also said he had planned to stay there for a week lol. I’m always interested in anything to do with Discovery Island. Have such great memories of that place one the true lost treasures of Disney World.
I would think he must have used a boat to transport himself, camping gear, and food... I can't imagine him being there for days and no one noticing.... I know folks have trespassed on the island in the past just so they could brag about it on their blogs or FB pages, but this guys seems more like a squatter.

The article also mentions that all employees and guests will require face coverings ...

It also said that the water parks would have to adhere to all above requirements. Wearing face masks was one of those. I'm fine in parks, hotels, transportation, and shops, but I don't see face masks working at a water park. It also said that masks had to be worn at all times. Does that include eating? I can see wearing them in restaurants when you aren't eating, ie buying food, walking to/from seating. I wonder how you can wear a mask and eat. My current favorite has elastic those goes behind the head above and below. I find the ear elastic ones don't stay on well for me.

You would be allowed to take them off to eat. I'm sure you won't be allowed to walk around the park eating food anymore though.

Hong Kong Disneyland to resume character meals with revised structure - might be clues to how things would be run stateside

  • The restaurant was previously a buffet and resumed food service mid-March on weekends only through a manu rather than a buffet.
  • This is the first time Hong Kong Disneyland has offered character experiences since the resort closed in January.
  • Guests will be allowed to take pictures of the characters from their tables, but can’t hug or touch them as part of safe social distancing practices.

I am worried that I will get dehydrated, because I will be worried about removing/moving my mask. I drink a lot of water due to allergies. I have thought about bringing my Camelbak and the drinking hose. We also found some reusable, bendable straws and have some regular plastic bendy straws that I plan to bring for easy sipping.

wow! That's Indiana which isn't nearly as hot as Florida. Good sign.

Yikes. I don't track every state, but Indiana is one of the ones I use as a threshold of a "bad" state. Basically the state I use as a worst case compared to the rest of the country when you ignore the NYC area. Similar to Georgia, I feel like the wrong states are the ones leading the way and is going to make it look worse for other states like Florida which actually are closer to being able to reopen. I feel like of the major parks, Dollywood makes the most sense to try and open first. East Tennessee hasn't been hit hard at all.

I agree that I would figure southern states open first. I wouldn't call Indiana a bad state though. Their numbers aren't bad. Of course I'm in IL so not much is bad compared to us lately. :(

Dollywood opens May 16th. It will be interesting to follow how it unfolds. East Tennessee has had very low numbers; hopefully it will be a successful case study of changes to implement to improve virus safety that other parks can adopt best practices from. Very curious about what their approach will be. Edit: It looks like just the water park is opening. That seems even harder to implement social distancing.
