It seems Six Flags will be requiring reservations to go to their parks upon reopening. This is found on the park hours section of their site for each park:

I could see tons of parks moving to that just in general for the future .. a lot of tourist attractions do that already by giving you a discount if you get a specific day (or sometimes time) ticket in advance. I know Legoland Discovery Center in Atlanta was like that.

Probably won't be hard for parks to implement (wouldn't be hard for Disney, you'd think) and will just let them keep control of capacity a lot easier than turning people away at the door. Better ot be disappointed at home when trying to buy a ticket rather than at the front gates.

Unfortunately that just makes another "pain" to planning and reducing flexibility even more (if they keep it beyond this pandemic).

I could see a lot parks implementing it as part of higher tiered season pass.

So, if I am an annual pass holder, I must choose my days and parks? It’s not an annual pass then.

well, if there are no restrictions on what dates you can select to go then I guess it is still an annual pass - like no dates are specifically pre-blacked out for you

But if they hit capacity on any given date then you would be blocked. Isn't that the same as it is now? if they hit stage 4 of park clossures no one can come in - even annual pass holders? Just now they can hit that ahead of time

Not mine.
Yeah our park (owned by Cedar Fair) is a price break for buying online vs buying in person day of as well as a ticket deal for buying online for 2 days. No dynamic pricing based on specific day. Tickets are good for any day. Seasonal passes are based on perks included like parking, Halloween Haunt, Winterfest, discounts to merchandise or early entry into the Waterpark, access to other Cedar Fair properties, etc.

Not that they can't restructure the way they do it, like Universal and Disney did, but presently how they operate is not based on picking a particular day.

But the way it reads for Six Flags is that even AP holders (they are called Members now I believe) have to say they are coming in advance. IDK what the penalty for saying you are going and not showing up is, but unless you just reserve a spot for yourself every day, sounds like at Six Flags at least your AP is no good for popping by whenever you feel like it. I very seriously doubt Disney will be making Platinum passholders reserve days, though with FP maybe that is all they really need. If all the rides are gone, who is going to show up? Probably not to many. Which that is my biggest fear once we reopen, that rides will be so limited that you really will only be able to do 3-4 a day.

agreed it won't work for just deciding day of to pop over like I am sure a lot of local passholders do at time. Just thinking more legally what you are guaranteed with your pass as it is possible (theoretically) that the park is at stage 4 closure at some day and you couldn't just "pop over" and get in then either with current regulations.

I do think it is a larger question though if what they are offering when first opened is so limited will they count that against people's passholder dates or will this be more like a "soft opening" and extend passes or say those passes aren't "active yet" and a special ticket is needed for these first few days (weeks, months?) and the clock on your pass wouldn't start until there is a much more full open with less restrictions

I wonder if they'll limit the number of days you can reserve. If not then I'd just reserve every day and go when I wanted. To me having that pass would be an automatic registration. They should build that into the numbers. Calculate the number of annual passes and then only allow how ever many beyond that to register.

I disagree. Disappointing people before they've left their house is far better than disappointing people who have driven/flown a long distance and paid $25 dollars to park.

Reopening with something like 15%-25% capacity* will be very, very messy. There's no way to admit all the people with existing DVC and Hotel reservations, let alone Silver/Gold/Platinum/Premier passholders who are popping in. It's an enormous problem for WDW to solve.

They built a reservation infrastructure for the DLR Flex Pass last year so porting that to WDW should be piece of cake. It will be interesting to see what's next.

*I know Florida said 50% capacity, but that's almost exactly the crowd on the average day at WDW.

I can see the necessity in these unusual days of 'reserving' a park in advance but it would greatly change a trip. I'm currently booked for an 11 day trip with an 8 day WP PH pass. If I found out I could only go to parks 5 or 6 days of our trip it might make me cancel for now. We choose to be park heavy on our trips and have restful vacations other times.

Still lots to figure out, that's for sure!

yeah, for this and the concern raised about passholders makes me wonder if they will view the first period as a soft opening and have special tickets needed (that are cheaper?) vs full opening

Fully agree where you are coming from where if I buy tickets that provide 8 park days during my vacation but then am only able to pre-register for 5 days, what happens to what a piad for those other 3 days? ... vs a "soft opening" where you pay for the days after your preregister for them (thus you are guaranteed to get in for the day you pay and you only register if you are paying for that day) but at a reduced cost or something)
