News Round Up 2020

I thought they might open Casey’s with all that outdoor seating it has. 🤷‍♂️
I thought so too! Since all ordering must be done via the online app, it won't be necessary to line-up inside. They could have an entrance and exit door without the normal congestion.
They could make the entire HUB seating at this point. How hard would it be to take a hot dog and sit down on one of the turfed over parts of the HUB to eat?
I hadn't thought about all the turfed parts to eat but that makes a lot of sense!

Hopefully Casey's will be one of the earlier ones to re-open once they start to add more.

One of the added challenges I can see this trip is we have a 9 day trip booked. If the rumour is true and we are not allowed to visit other resorts, it would mean a lot more meals at Pop. I would try to maximize our meals in the park to give more variety to our days. Normally in a case like this I would consider ordering groceries but my understanding is that parcel service is suspended. Does anyone know if that includes things like grocery orders or can those still be placed since they could possibly be brought to your room? I have never ordered groceries. Do they all get dropped off at luggage services or do some have their orders delivered to their room? Just checking out options.

Honestly I can see peoples point about a Disney vacation not being monetarily worth it this year, but I can also say that I sure as heck need a vacation and I have more faith in Disney with social distancing then most mom and pop vacation destinations so I am happy to give a bit of my money to disney this year regardless if it isnt the same experience i am used to

I think once you actually get there, it will be worth it. The small crowds will mean people get to experience the parks like never before and Disney has every incentive to make that experience as enjoyable as possible as they want people to spend big for the 50th. The big stresses are everything leading up to the trip.

We understand your feelings, you post basically the same thing everyday. But there are some people that will feel it is worth it. There are also a lot that have the same feelings as you. To each their own. It’s definitely going to be a different experience.
Oh for sure .. sorry for the re-posts .. my way of coping I guess. :(. Luckily we have boards like this to know exactly what we are getting into. I appreciate the news and opinions shared here for each of us to make our own decisions. For sure each family is different. A young couple with no kids, will have less issues spending the money on the experience, finding the reduced capacity worth the money spent, while a large family with young kids simply won't due to all the kid-friendly experiences that are being restricted/removed.

And I'll be honest -- I go back and forth of wanting to book a vacation for the fall (when I can again (my reservation was cancelled)) and just giving up until 2021. It's just hard to evaluate the "value" of a WDW vacation right now -- but the part of me that is desperately needing a getaway finds it potentially more appealing. I hope to fill that void with smaller, local vacations for now.

I just hope that others (that don't frequent news boards like this) have the same information available to them. Disney is definitely being quite open with the "know before you go" information!

I'm not so sure next year will be better. The reservation system is in place until Sept 2021. Are they expecting masks until then too? That's the big unknown. My DD is graduating HS next year. it would be good to get a trip in before then. Not looking good for that idea...
I know what you mean....my family is still on the fence about whether we are going to try to book for summer 2021 or wait until 2022. We went last in October 2018 so we don't go ever year or anything but we aren't a once in a lifetime family either.

They must be basing capacity on the number of rides, attractions and restaurants open. AK was always pretty sparse on that account, take away the M&Gs, the petting zoo, the boneyard, Whirl and their 3 big shows .. there just isn't much to do at AK, so I would guess the max capacity is just lower? Talk about a true half day park. Will AK have the "entertainment" walking about .. like the singers/dancers? If not .. Animal Kingdom seems like it will be a lot of walking for just a few rides and way less themed atmosphere (which is one of its selling points). But I guess if you ever wanted to ride FoP multiple times in a day, this would be the time to do it.

This just goes to show that what people want in a park varies greatly. AK is my 2nd favorite park and I don't see FOTLK or Nemo most of the time when I go, no M&Gs, don't do the petting zoo, or anything in Dinoland (except Dinosaur) and I can easily still spend the whole day there doing stuff.

I go back and forth from "no way would I go" to "Well, maybe it would be worth it"

Crazy times...

Oh my goodness! Now that is the first good Disney news (imo) that we’ve had lately. Pre-covid, locals were at a huge disadvantage for fp’s and reservations so I am very please we are on more equal footing with park access.

I am glad to see it and think it makes sense - especially with them not allowing buying tickets now or booking stays in 2020 now. So you get those people with stays and tickets currently booked and get them set with one bucket. Great. Now move on to Pass holders and then others with separate buckets.

Then I assume they would just merge everything after some period of time into one bucket but this allows them to sort of get all "exsiting customers" set up first

It's going to be like After Hours events. I think low crowds like that make up for the other losses to some. If that doesn't make it worth it then skip it. I agree with you about needing to get away! I just went to the beach for a few days and it was great, but it was almost free for me. I would love to go see this unique WDW, but I would go solo and only if I lived closer.

Low crowds and waits will DEFINITELY make up for it with me! I can understand people who don’t go often, though.
