News Round Up 2016

While I'm not sure if it would work, I don't think it's TOO far out of the realm of possibility.

I can see walking through a queue, getting in a ride vehicle, experiencing that part of the ride, and then getting out of the vehicle. This first "ride" is now over and the vehicle leaves the area to loop back to the beginning. Now you are on a specific path, I'm assuming with possibly two guides, one in front and one in back. Now the path you are on is restricted with possible live actors playing Storm Troopers or whatever in an area that is not accessible to the public (think Madame Leota in the Haunted Mansion). They put on a little play, do their bit, whatever, then you walk to another ride vehicle that looks exactly like the previous one (think "it's not safe to go via space, we'll have the ship loop around and pick us up on the other side") and then you finish the ride experience.

In essence, it sounds like it's going to just be two rides connected.

Too Long; Didn't Read

I can see it working if it was something like Queue1, Pre-show1, Ride1, Queue2/Pre-show2, Ride 2.

I can think of nothing more irritating than getting on to an attraction, going half-way through, and having to get into another queue before continuing on. I don't disagree that it is possible - I just don't think the pay off from it would be worth the annoyance. Utilizing an innovative ride vehicle system could provide several different perspectives/experiences, guiding through various scenarios without the problems of loading and unloading, and being able to control the entire experience. Anyway, this rumor is kind of a dead horse at this point. We have quite a wait before we get even the littlest tidbits of what's to come.

  • New Soarin' was cute. We were seated on the far left side which gave a huge curve to everything on the screen - the Eiffel Tower looked like the front end of a parentheses . ( I don't remember that being an issue with the California version, but maybe I just never rode it that far to the side. Anyone else have that experience?

I also sat on the left and experienced a lot of distortion. The curvature of the Eiffel Tower was the most noticeable and bothersome.

Loving all the updates and conversation. Very exciting times to continue ahead.

Maybe you can "choose" to stay on/in the ride vehicle and skip the walk through section, but still be visually exposed to the action.

Kind of a "loop" around the battlefield. :tiptoe: :darth:

Similar set up to SE, picture when you get off on the moving walkway (or HM) and wonder around that area-but then you can get back on (like the beginning of SE) for the finale. Or stay on and ride around to the beginning again-it would just be a full car that needs to pass.

I know I read that they still have the option to have packages sent to the pick up location but I really do hope they continue with that and not use the removal of the delivery option for the App as a stepping stone to removing it completely for purchases in the park. When we last went we used the option all the time. We stayed off site too (drove at times and other times used the hotel's free shuttle) and it was sooo nice not to have to worry about carrying our bags with us and just pick them up on the way out. We did the same for the most part at USO as well.

I had heard the distortion was much more severe when sitting on the sides so I requested to sit in row "B1" to make sure I got front row of the middle section and I didn't notice much distortion at all ... just a thought for your next trip (never had an issue asking for that, you might just have to wait one extra cycle)

When we last went in 2011 I had never thought of even requesting a specific row but I've been seeing more people mention it so I'm thinking I might do that in 2017.

It honestly irks me when it comes to things like distortion because then it's all I focus on. It's like watching something where the audio and visual are off from each other. My husband doesn't notice it as much and thus doesn't have a huge issue with it but for me it's all I can concentrate on and it negatively impacts my enjoyment.

Wife and I got on a bus home from late night at the MK in late September and there was nobody else on bus but was a slice of pizza on one of the seats. No wrap, no box, just a slice of pizza sitting there. Random and all alone. It actually was quite funny.

The real question is, "If the bus was packed and your wife was pregnant, would that slice of pizza have given up it's seat for her?"

Pregnant Wife vs Slice of Pizza, my money's on Pregnant Wife and I pray for the pizza's well being.

I imagine them eliminating the walking altogether, but providing a similar experience. Walking is the x-factor they don't need to bother with. The only thing I can really reference are the Kuka arm things on "Forbidden Journey". Something like that - but better, more supportive and comfortable. So one could stay harnessed into the apparatus and be upright, like walking but also be angled and suspended more like flying. Part of the difficulty in this conversation is that ideally it will be a brand new technology - so our only frames of reference are existing attractions, and OLD existing attractions to boot. This will hopefully be an entirely new experience.

Like you said it is a very exciting time to be a theme parks fan. I'm certain we'll have about a million more of these weird rumors as the time goes by. :)

I'm sure they'll continue this regular packages - I'll bet this is more an issue with the Shop Parks apps, which is pretty much a turd. We lucked out last fall when staying on-site while they were offering free shipping for purchases. It was so fun getting all our goodies in the mail after we got back. The ability to buy merch in-park and have it sent to the front makes it more comfortable and convenient for guests to spend money, so you can be sure they won't end it anytime soon. :)

But, the automated guy on the bus says no eating or drinking. So, you buy your nice little rugrats a drink and then the bus comes. I see what is coming and it isn't going to be very user friendly to the others riding the bus. WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! I WANT MY DRINK! All the way to the MK.

The story references "bottled" beverages. To my knowledge, Disney doesn't sell soda in bottles, rather just cans or fountain drinks. But what other beverages comes in bottles? Ooohh, I know---beer!! Now that's a plan with no down side! Hordes of impatient, entitled guests in 95 degree weather surrounded by screaming kids waiting on a bus that's 15 minutes late with a line of 5 ECV's waiting and now they're jostling for position to see who can squeeze in first....and now they're drinking beer to boot! What could go wrong? :drinking1:rolleyes1:duck:
