News Round Up 2016

If you're visiting Orlando, I don't get foregoing some the best theme parks in the world to hang out at a mall.

We "were" the same. But D Springs is much improved (esp dining, drinks and atmosphere) and our "kids" are all over 21 and night owls and the hot dogs and mac & cheese days are over for them. They work hard and buy quality products, food and drinks on vacation.

That and FP+ has made our touring that much better.

In the past, staying out until 2AM meant the FP availability for popular attractions were very hard to get when we finally got to the parks, often long gone.

This resulted in a penalty for doing what we wanted, when we wanted. Now we get way more done with no worries, even after enjoying nights out-D Springs being the new main location/attraction.

Not to mention that the new and improved Disney Springs is probably going to be quite popular with the locals. I,m sure that was part of Disneys plan for DS. Locals will always be there. Not as risky as who will come to DW on vacation.

I'm guessing some of the stuff could be found at a factory outlet store a few miles away. But I would be curious if for example a trendy new shirt at the Oakley store would be found anywhere for cheaper? You would think that there would be franchise rules for that, but I'm not a big enough shopper to know for sure.

This is my family as well. We rarely roll out of bed before 10am on vacation and at 10pm we are still looking for something to do. DS adds alot of options for late evening entertainment. FP+ has made our WDW vacation's much better.

Disagree...

Orlando...actually Florida...are not high income areas...

And all locals in tourist areas generally are the same: they want your money but don't want to have to deal
With you.

What the hell is trendy at Oakley?

:)

OK then maybe it's just the case that we seem to have to spend sooo much money at DW that it almost feels like a bodily function. So after spending $50 for a couple of cupcakes a $50 shirt at Disney Springs feels like a bargain. At least you still have the shirt after one digestive cycle. Right?

It "adds" an extra hour and a half of shopping past 10 and some new walk up bars...or am I missing something in the master plan?

Awesome.

Heck even just today 2 of us opened MK at 9, the rest closed D Springs last night.

Knocked out 7DMT, Pan, BTMR and Splash in the first hour SB.

Relaxed all day, and have EE, FOTLK and Safari set for tonight.

Then, you guessed it-DSprings.

Much cooler these mornings and evenings.

I suppose...but the scrapping of the old food pricing, an increase in high ticket retail, and dumping pleasure island would make the area less overall appealing to Orlando residents...

But if it gets those with more means - winter park, bay hill, Windermere, Doctor Phillips, etc more interested...they'd take that trade off...

The day/weekend trippers from

I was just trying to be funny with a possible Disney thought process. I will usually have a bunch of ideas on most subjects and see what sticks. It is just the way I get closer to the truth. Problem with online forums is without hearing the persons tone it is tough to know if their answers are trying to be funny or just plain snarky. My last post was not trying to be snarky but it's not always easy to tell. I understand that. Maybe I should try to use more emoji at the end of my statements to help with my tone. :)

No problem...didn't take it as snarky at all...just used it to flesh out a fringe of the Disney springs discussion

I,m usually in the mainstream and fringe at the same time in many discussions which helps me cover more bases. Most things fall into common sense but we should never ignore the outlier point of view. Thinking both inside and outside the box will not only give you more of the right answers to things but can also help your point by making sure the outlier is or is not correct. If that makes sense.

Latest Jim Hill Musings

An attraction within Mexico in Epcot using the upcoming Pixar film Coco could be coming in fall 2017. No word on what exactly that will be.

Star Wars Galactic Spectacular uses less pyro because of the proximity to AK and the fact that, that park is open late. Animals and fireworks don't go well together.

I'd like to believe that, but then again, we've talked about an Inside Out and a Good Dinosaur rides for Epcot and AK before. We'll see. It sounds like an obvious choice for a ride, but most times hopeful thinking doesn't take us anywhere.

Jim talks like this is much further in development than other insiders say. Some on wdwmagic say there is a plan but its very early Blue Sky.
