Rumor

Latest Jim Hill Musings

An attraction within Mexico in Epcot using the upcoming Pixar film Coco could be coming in fall 2017. No word on what exactly that will be.

Star Wars Galactic Spectacular uses less pyro because of the proximity to AK and the fact that, that park is open late. Animals and fireworks don't go well together.

Ignoring my bias against Jim Hill :crazy2:- likely anything that would be Coco related this much in advance would be either (a) an overlay of the Mexico pavilion to show more of a "Day of the Dead" atmosphere, (b) replacing the displays in the front lobby area with Coco related displays, (c) some sort of Meet and Greet related to the characters or (d) an overlay of the three cabelleros attraction. I consider the latter to be extremely unlikely to already be being planned, though.

I will point out that Disney has historically only ONCE ever put a true attraction (beyond a meet and greet) in prior to a movie coming out. The cost of design and construction is too risky considering the potential for failure. A "Blue Sky" concept maybe, but no I don't believe that we will see anything beyond that.

This one has been announced a while ago, this is just announcing that the tickets are available. Personal note: missing it by about 3 weeks - can't ever seem to be there for any of this DVC stuff.

Rumor

Phase 3 for DHS is a non-thrill e ticket attraction (yes one ride not a land). It's officially been green lit and will open around or just after Star Wars land.

Hmmm....calling a single attraction "Phase 3" seems a bit overblown - but I am all for additional capacity beyond TSL and SWE. I am still disappointed they only went with two rides for TSL, if you are going to have a kiddie area - you should at least put in 3 or 4 rides. Could've done something very similar, even a spinner attraction, just something to take capacity in that area. (I guess technically TSL will have 3 rides, just one of them already exists.) SWE I can understand as you will also have dining and shows in addition to the two rides and the current Star Tours, so fine. Guess by "non-thrill" that yet again means the Monsters Inc coaster sits on the shelf. *Sigh*. Really though DHS could use a dark ride besides TGMR.

interesting ... any thoughts/inputs for what the means for when Star Wars Land would be completed?

Would this be connected to either of the two new lands or relate to existing parts of the park?

Nothing has been said really as to where this will be located. Maybe echo lake area? From what I've heard it's a new IP altogether that's not in the park.

technically diagon alley is a single attraction. the train is just a tram to encourage multipark pass purchases.

Fingers crossed for Radiator Springs Racers. :D
Sadly I don't have any inside info.

What does "confirmed" mean here? That makes it sound like more than a rumor.
Per multiple sources, this project is green lit, has funding and is in final design work, and that those designs are not IPs that are Marvel or Pixar.

However, with any "rumor" as time goes on, things can change.

Agree on the second comment - AG would be phenomenally popular there but it's too much direct competition for the merchandise that Disney already sells. "Ok, you can do Bibbity Bobbity Boutique OR get an American Girl doll.." I think it's in their best interests to NOT have an AG store on property.

what if they combine the two ... purchase an American Girl doll and when you go to BBB for only $99 more your doll can get the same makeover you do!

Not Marvel, Pixar, or presumably Star Wars? That really peaks my interest thinking what it could be.

Can't imagine that it is older IP - nothing from last century that isn't already well represented in parks. I also dismiss the idea of not being IP based. Disney doesn't think that way anymore, and not for that park. I tend to think something with slightly more girl appeal...with Toy Story and Star Wars I am guessing management would worry about "not enough for girls" at the park.

- First thought is Zootopia - a pretty huge hit that is sequel ready - Judy Hopps makes it appeal to girls as well as boys. Family friendly dark ride would be an easy sell.
- A recent yet underrepresented princess: Perhaps Tangled or Princess & The Frog related. I think P&tF has grown significantly in popularity since original release, and Tangled was a pretty big hit until it was overshadowed by the dreaded F-word. (That's Frozen in case someone accuses me of cursing. )
- Tinkerbell? That Pixie Hollow section of Fantasyland remains in a design bin just waiting to be built. Not a ride though. I feel like Pixie Hollow's popularity has waned, but don't know if that's just because I have a teen now.
- Wreck-It-Ralph, since a sequel was just announced. Might be hard to pull off to get rights to use characters for a theme park setting. Also less girl-themed than I think they might want to go. I think this and Big Hero Six would be low on the likelyhood scale.
- Indiana Jones ride? Unlikely if it not a thrill ride. However, I still think DHS could use another coaster.
- Final, completely crazy thought - Muppets Great Movie Ride? I think this highly unlikely based on the show being cancelled, but the fact they are building Muppets mini-land? Just maybe...

Non-thrill attraction makes me think it's much more for younger kids. Possibly a Pixie Hollow thing (get other fairies than just Tinker Bell), but I'm pretty sure they said that Neverbeast was the end of their movies, so that would be pretty dated by opening. My guess is it will be a Disney Junior thing. Probably something with Sofia where other princesses can be involved as well. I could be way off, but I wonder if between everything left at DHS and everything they are putting in if they are worried they are going to lose some of that young crowd (not enough for young kids to really like) and they will put a major Disney Junior thing in to get kids excited to go as well.
