News Round Up 2016

I feel like there should be some acknowledgement or filter for "adventurous eaters". I'm sure the menu would last much longer if visitors knew what they were getting into. As it is, you have people looking at the name and deciding it must be cool because they loved Jungle Cruise, but not looking at the menu.

I mean, it's in Adventureland - it would be so easy to theme.

It would be really useful to have on the dining reservation site for everyone, too. The adventurous eaters would know where to go, and the parents of kids who only eat chicken nuggets would, too

I have never seen a single item on WDW property, in the grand culinary scheme of things, that -really- qualifies as 'adventurous'. It's not as if they're serving puffer fish or tripe or sweetbreads or something. I understand that people have food preferences, and that is their prerogative - but there is no reason guests cannot look at a menu before dining. Most of them have their faces buried in a phone screen anyhow - put it to good use. And if worse comes to worse, and they find zero acceptable options, they can leave and eat somewhere else.

It's just so crazy to me because Skipper Canteen's menu is really fairly basic. Some of the app and a few entree choices are a little more interesting, but it generally follows the WDW protein, starch, veggie formula.

100% agree...

I find any suggestion that it "needs to be easier" laughable...

How much easier can it get?

In my opinion - there is no such thing as "too serious" a Star Wars movie at this point. It's what they need. And if it doesn't taken a frivolous, fleeting American $450 mil in 10 days...you know what happens?

It becomes a diehard fan cult classic and lives on in merchandising forever...which is much more lucrative.

I think there are things which would be too serious for Star Wars or for what most people want to see from Star Wars. War movie? Sure, Dam Busters was a clear inspiration for a certain portion of Star Wars as was Guns of Navarone. So do Dirty Dozen or The Great Escape (I'd actually love to see a Star Wars version of The Great Escape). Don't do Das Boot or even Apocalypse Now. The former movies are dark in places but they are full of humor and the clear delineation of good and bad works naturally for the Star Wars universe.

And to keep this at least a bit on topic... the latest rumors have it that these re-shoots were always scheduled and they are mostly to adjust some character beats and clarify a few sequences. In other words normal stuff, not a panicked fix.

I do every day.

...guess i missed the important stuff..

Which is why i don't often type here.

Though I have to say...this board is a whole lotta nothing the last few weeks....

This "exciting year of new" at WDW isn't generating much spark is it?

I guess one could say the "new" is many of these attractions and shows are finally opening. Memorial Day weekend and June 17 seem to be the biggest splashes of late. But it has taken FOREVER to get here. And still even longer for other major news.

It's all personal preference. Some are excited some aren't. I post everything here not just "important" stuff. Photo updates, refurbishments, general updates and more.

I'd settle for a tidbit of "important stuff"...

I mean...you do realize that there was 3+ pages of skippers canteen reservation love and complaints that a noodle bowl or non-traditional Mac n cheese was "too exotic"

I'll go back to waiting for something substantive...on the other threads...

But you're just a touch behind the glass on this one, this time, no? (You're usually pretty right though)

This is a thread for smaller news and updates. The big stuff gets its own threads. I just don't want those smaller news and updates to get lost in general talk.

Reign of Kong team member previews are happening tonight and tomorrow, so softs for that are extremely likely this week.

I'm vvveerrrryyyy interested to see how this turns out. Uni fans seem to me very excited (with good reason) for this - particularly that it alluded to being more than just another screen based experience, including perhaps some dark ride-like show scenes or other interesting physical elements. My suspicion is that it will be yet another screen based experience with an impressive facade, and I'm curious to see whether I'm right or not, and whether it lives up to the hype.

Out of the 6 scenes, 3 have screens.

Have you seen the video with the giant Kong animatronic? We're talking yeti size and he works.

What are you talking about, all the stuff opening at DAK was just last week and there was a TON of discussion about it here on the thread with posts and videos and reviews and such. Soon we'll have FEA and Soarin 2.0: World Buggalo. Plus the new castle show. Plus the new fireworks at DHS. Plus the construction updates. Plus they just announced a new rip-off event at AK for the evening safari. More been going on the last month than for ages.

So in the new soarin theatre there was a sign on the wall near the point where you enter the three separate areas to board -- It said people prone to motion sickness bla bla, but added expect sudden drops and rises-- can't exactly remember the wording... but maybe the physical portion of the ride will be better also?
