News Round Up 2016

!!!! I thought I was the only one underwhelmed by the Enchanted Storybook Castle! I keep looking at it, trying to catch an angle that appeals to me, but nothing yet. I can't even put my finger on exactly what bothers me about it. Too square? Too much definition between the tiers so it looks like a cake?

The castle looks like it was built out of Legos

This scares me. Anytime I see this level of detail in Orlando I can't help but think maintenance cost and labor. This is beautiful today but what about 8-10 years from now? The cost to keep this painted and keep the fake plants vibrant and not dirty and faded is going to be a massive cost burden. I am concerned for long term health of the park.

I want to think that Disney is well aware of such things and that they take that into consideration as they pick the right materials and designs to use. Disney is quite confident about their rock work. Expedition Everest, Mount Prometheus or Carsland all look pretty good to this day, for example.

I'm not a fan of it either. To me, in going for size and grandeur, it lacks the elegance and beauty of the other castles. But perhaps it is different in person.

I wouldn't underestimate Universal these days.

Meh - I was quite underwhelmed when I visited in October. I won't deny any great new projects they create, but like I said, I'm not overly excited about Kong until my suspicions about it are proven wrong. Just my two cents.

Remember the Haunted Mansion Ghost Post subscription? Here's the unboxing of the first package of the series, for anyone who is interested. Some really cool stuff. Not sure if it's worth the price, but pretty cool regardless.

I've got mine and I will say customer service has been amazing. App updates came quickly for issues and any customer service issues posted in the forums got near immediate response.

This box came with old player piano punch out music sheets so I'm assuming the piano shown in the preview video is a mini player piano. Overall it's probably a little over priced but I'd pay it again just based on the fun I've had with it.

I'm not sure I can even think of any examples of princess movies where the female is not the most heavily featured character. The closest example would be Tangled, but I still think Rapunzel gets more screen time than Flynn. The other would be Aladdin, but...he's the title character. It's his movie, not a princess movie. Anna probably gets more screen time that Elsa, but they are both princesses.

This is the study that sparked the first conversation.

Well, Prince Phillip has a pretty big role in Sleeping Beaty when the title character is asleep

No you're not the only one. It's just an interesting piece of whatever you want to call it. But hey they get the biggest castle so.

I will be interested to see if it looks differently once all the landscaping is complete. Right now, it looks to me like an industrial warehouse with spires on top. It just seems to be too wide or something. I am really hoping it changes with the landscaping finishes as it could minimize how it currently appears. It may also help to have more of a ground level view from the front as most of the shots are from the back or overhead.

Sneak preview of the 2016 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is scheduled for June 26, 2016, 12:00-2:00 pm, for Tables in Wonderland Members.

This buffet-style lunch will allow guests to sample food and beverages planned for this year's event, which has been extended to a record-length of 62 days.

Here's a picture from Disney and More that shows the front view of the castle. I personally like it. It's closer to what an actual castle looks like. It's not the most charming or the prettiest, but it certainly is the most impressive one.

They did the same thing for flower and garden.
