News Round Up 2016

Unless they are doing some retconning, Rogue Squadron was formed between Episodes IV and V from the remnants of Red Squadron. The new movie occurs before Episode IV.

The movie is "Rogue One" not "Rogue Squadron". It's not likely to be about fighter pilots.

I saw this posted today - thought it might be useful ;)

I must admit that I knew the general plot so wasn't confused about that aspect of the trailer but I thought it was an ensemble movie about the entire squadron, not focused so much on one character (and perhaps that will be the case in the final movie)

That's extremely helpful! Thank you! Makes much more sense now. Again, not being that into the Star Wars universe, easy to see how it's a bit confusing.

Rogue One is a stand alone movie. It is not Episode 8, which will be released in December 2017, and will be the continuation of TFA and the standard trilogies.

Ah! Again, very informative and helpful. Thanks!

And again I ask that someone point me to an action movie where we don't have a smart-mouthed cocky lead character with a chip on their shoulder? It's the archetype of the genre.

And again, I'm going to point out that you're being creatively reductionist. Sure one or both of those two traits show up to some degree in most action hero leads. A movie has 90 minutes to establish a motivation for the lead, and make the audience care one way or the other. I don't think i'd even use the word "archetype." "Trope" feels more accurate here.

If you're trying to tell me that Eddie Murphy would have dropped right into Rocky, or Stallone into Beverly Hills Cop, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree here. Even Bruce Willis, and Shwarzenegger -- both famous for being laconic action-movie tough guys -- couldn't realistically swap their two most iconic roles.

Also, Lord of the Rings.

My point is that when you have a run of movies that could *all* be played by Jennifer Lawrence, and no-one would notice the difference, there's a problem.

And for the record, I happen to think Rey is a great example of *not* doing that, and I found the general production and direction of TFA refreshing because it wasn't an ape of a seriously tired modern movie cliché.

Also, Lord of the Rings.

Ehh... I'll give you it, but I'm not sure action movie is an entirely accurate descriptor.

My point is that when you have a run of movies that could *all* be played by Jennifer Lawrence, and no-one would notice the difference, there's a problem.

And my point is there are as many or more action movies with interchangeable male leads so why is this continually reduced to "shoehorning female leads into action movies"?

Rumor

Star Tours has two IPs being considered for a redo of the current attraction. No word on what those are. The same IP would be used in both DL and DHS.

This would support the "Star Tours not part of Star Wars land" theory which in turn lends a little credibility to the LMA location...

All just rumor piled on speculation balanced on rumor mind you.

Permit

A permit was filed for show set install at the Navi River Journey. This permit however just has a default one year expiration date instead of the 2018 expiration date.
