News Round Up 2016

Yeah I'm very surprised they didn't keep disneyslnd forever. Sure going back to the original world of color makes sense but Disneyland forever could've stayed forever lol.

I would have hoped to have seen it one day. In my opinion it was perfect, not too much projections like some shows. And, although never seen it in person, the practical effects were cool, like the coral and snow. And the fact it could be veiwed nearly anywhere in the park seemed convenient.

I heard this this morning on CNBC. Sorkin's comment was pure speculation - he really presented it as a question. And, TBH, since I didn't see Joe's face, I couldn't tell if he was serious or sucking up to his Comcast bosses. ;)

I can't intelligently speculate on why they have created this particular AP. But my guess as to why it needs to be activated by Dec. 1 is that Disney doesn't want people to "buy-and-hold" this ticket.

How does that work, if it so closely resembles a Disney ride patent? Seems odd that Disney would let someone else build their own ride first...
Disney doesn't build their own rides. They may patent things but they don't actually construct anything themselves. Vekoma does a lot of the Disney coasters. They have done RnRc, mine train and many more. Disney doesn't the design work but let's others do the build.

Yeah thats a pretty bad article. "Why would you go to Disneyland if you can go to Harry Potter"... really? That's news? So Harry Potter is the epitome of all that is great in the theme park world, everyone loves Harry Potter, and Universal did everything right? So, why doesn't Disney just shut down? Well thats unreasonable I guess. So maybe they should just go the Six Flags route and do discount theme parks. What a tool. Clearly a plant article.

Rumor

WDWNT is making a bold claim about the ride system for the guardians coaster at Epcot. I have heard that this is a vekoma prototype that isn't being built for Disney.

That's a cool ride system. Really hope they do use it for something. However, there's just so many different rumors about this ride that I don't know what to think anymore. Some say that as soon as Guardians join the Avengers, WDW won't be able to use them anymore. Some others say the opposite.

It's an interesting rumor regardless.

From what I understand guardians is safe either way.

Just an observation worth note. I keep hearing that Flight of Passage the avatar flying banshee ride is being underestimated by everyone. This ride will be much better than a soarin 2.0 that everyone thinks.

I wonder if it will use a vertical loading, flying simulator type ride... :D :D ;)

Some say that as soon as Guardians join the Avengers

Or you know... they never join the Avengers. Up to this point, there is nothing that has happened, nor anything rumored to happen in GoTG 2 that would make them part of a single team. The Guardians can continue to fight a common enemy while not crossing over... Disney wouldn't kill a potential park IP simply to remain "true" to comics, no matter how much some fanboys want it to happen.

Don't want to argue but it's almost a guarantee that the guardians play a role in the Avengers infinity war movies.

Yes they will appear in the movies but if they become part of the avenger family is the question.

In order for Disney to loose GotG in Orlando, the team would literally have to join the avengers. As in, be a part of the main group. And even then, it would likely have to be more than just a single movie. As in, they would have to join them in the comics as well.

Universal has rights to a very specific set of characters and their immediate universe. The caveat that seems to be catching people is a footnote that covers teams, such as Avengers and X-Men, where by if a character joins one of those teams, then they have the option to use the character.

This does not mean that simply having a character in the same movie or even comic as a team gives Universal these rights. The short of it is GotG can crossover with the Avengers with no problem as long as they aren't suddenly dropping their own team name and claiming to be members of the Avengers now. And even then, I'm not sure a movie is enough to put that exception into play. After all, these rules were drafted around the comic book universe, well before there were any movies to base these rules on.
