News Round Up 2016

You missed the naming news then because the name has been out for months now.

I do completely agree it's part of the mark up in costs.

And if i did...it neither affects:

1. My point
2. The current market price of oolong in Shanghai

EDIT: You covered it...my bad. And DAMN...that was a good joke wasted :( !

I'm fairly certain it was confirmed.

Negative ghost rider... while its generally irrelevant as whether they join Avengers, appear in the same moves, or simply have a common enemy they are part of the same Cinematic Universe... the fact is there is zero confirmation. There are some teases, and a slip of the tongue referencing "writing for a raccoon".

I get it... it makes logical sense. Just saying don't put the cart before the horse. You could all go google it (or I could be sarcastic and do the whole let me google that for you game)... but suffice it to say, if anyone has confirmation, it hasn't been picked up by the all knowing google at this juncture.

What does Shanghai have to do with this? I'm fairly certain this milking of DVC would've happened if Shanghai was a thing or not.

I misread your response so my quip was voided...

But I was referencing "what's that have to do with the price of tea in China?"

Get it?

i thought I saw the villain (thanos?) was confirmed?
Yes thanos was confirmed.

for those that haven't seen the end of the avengers credits thanos makes an appearance. It all ties as part of the marvel cinematic universe. Guardians is one branch that is very likely to make an appearance in the movie.

Did you read my edit?

Did you read my edit?

Umm, no. Because if I read your edit, then my post would have been redundant and I wouldn't have posted it. Which means you wouldn't have posted did you read my edit, which means I wouldn't have to post that I didn't and if I had then my post would've been redundant making this post unnecessary...

Ok, I'm slowly backing away now before this whole thing spirals into a Twilight Zone episode that ends with us trying to escape from the Collector Guardians of the Galaxy style...

I'm confused but whatever I guess

In order for Disney to loose GotG in Orlando, the team would literally have to join the avengers. As in, be a part of the main group. And even then, it would likely have to be more than just a single movie. As in, they would have to join them in the comics as well.

Universal has rights to a very specific set of characters and their immediate universe. The caveat that seems to be catching people is a footnote that covers teams, such as Avengers and X-Men, where by if a character joins one of those teams, then they have the option to use the character.

This does not mean that simply having a character in the same movie or even comic as a team gives Universal these rights. The short of it is GotG can crossover with the Avengers with no problem as long as they aren't suddenly dropping their own team name and claiming to be members of the Avengers now. And even then, I'm not sure a movie is enough to put that exception into play. After all, these rules were drafted around the comic book universe, well before there were any movies to base these rules on.
Great explanation...as I understand it GotG may be in one of the Infinity Wars movies with the Avengers, but they would stay GotG. Just a simple crossover, which happens in the comic books frequently. Now more interesting is would it be possible for an Avenger to jump ship and join GotG and then WDW could use them? ... couldn't be Cap or Hulk...but maybe one of the others? just tossing that out there

I don't believe any can leave the avenger family once they are in at least in terms of the contract.

Contrary to popular belief, there's most likely a definitive list of which characters fall under each character family umbrella. If a character joins or leaves a team,it wouldn't affect the Universal contract.

There's probably exceptions though. If Marvel created a new character specifically for the Avengers team, I'm sure Universal could make a case for claiming the rights to the character.
