40% (which is double the initial estimates) of Disney's Golden Oak homeowners are permanent residents. Disney expected only 20% and 80% just having their Golden Oak homes as vacation properties.

Uhhhhhh...

"One house under construction, for a single man in his 20s, will feature a drawbridge between the bathroom and bedroom and a submarine-themed basement with a porthole providing an underwater pool view. Jones is also building a 20,000-square-foot house that will include a Cinderella-inspired 50-foot-long ballroom, an "Alice in Wonderland" themed bunk room with singing cake platters, and a re-creation of the Haunted Mansion's stretching room."

The porthole between the basement and pool is a great idea. Wish I would've thought of that when I built my Disney mansion - Said none of us ever.

I wish I had money to just throw away like that.

The real craziness is the $20K in HOA fees and you get ONE Premium Platinum Plus pass.:faint:

To be fair, if you drop $5M+ to build/purchase a home before the end of the year, you get 5 passes for the next three years. But honestly, if I'm paying that much in HOA fees, I - and everyone in my family - should be able to play in the parks as if they were in my backyard for as long as I live there!!!

The costs of shared amenities, facilities, and staff which service a community like this are not not cheap. If you start using the HOA fees to cover APs, say 5 passes at a total over $4000, then you must give either raise the HOA fee or sacrifice 20% of the ammenities, which are a big reason people live in such a place.

I know it is a world that none of us actually live in, but APs and their cost is pretty insignificant here.

I am sure the cost of the landscaping is pretty high, but in all the info on the website, it seems there are not that many amenities that are included. An owner has ACCESS to certain amenities - concierge services, services at The Four Seasons (which you then pay for), and reduced greens fees, I didn't see a lot of other perks. The info said some special events, but others would require a fee. But, I guess if you can afford to live there, all these other costs are relatively insignifican - including APs...

Kinda glad that they appear to be Disney fans at least and not just building regular exchange endive houses and then bragging about the address
