News Round Up 2016

I don't know - kind of nice to know that large corporations not only treat their little employees badly, they sometimes treat there big employees badly. In other words, no matter how big you are, the corporation just doesn't care about you personally.

Corporations love to talk about loyalty and engagement etc. but in my experience it means very little. The company itself is only loyal to its spreadsheets and beyond that you are at the mercy of your immediate managers.

There is a theory that a disproportionate number of CEOs meet the qualifications to be a sociopath. It's still only 4% but that's 4 times the national average. If true that would suggest the higher up you go, the worse your managers are going to be.

Good point!

Staggs is either to blame about the current financial crunch, or the fall guy for it. Either way you don't parade those folks in the public eye.

I agree - the successful CEO has no sympathy for their fellow human beings - so yeah, I would say most have at least some sociopathic tendencies.

There was probably a nice little "bundle" built into the separation agreement, though. So I'm sure he still made out financially well.

I'll be completely honest, I thought we were going to see a continuation of TFA, so the Rogue One trailer confused me a bit. I've seen all the movies, but I'm not a Star Wars Fanatic by any means. So maybe that's why I didn't get it?

Don't get me wrong, it looks great, and I'm excited to see it, I guess I just assumed it would be a continuation like the rest were? That might be on me just not knowing, not that they haven't put it out there.

I saw this posted today - thought it might be useful ;)

I must admit that I knew the general plot so wasn't confused about that aspect of the trailer but I thought it was an ensemble movie about the entire squadron, not focused so much on one character (and perhaps that will be the case in the final movie)

Well a 6 month "consultant" position (so free money) plus his stock options... that alone is pretty sweet.

Rogue One is a stand alone movie. It is not Episode 8, which will be released in December 2017, and will be the continuation of TFA and the standard trilogies.

I think we need to keep in mind this is a teaser trailer released over 6 months ahead of the movie. The goal is just to get some general buzz.

They can be highly misleading.

Brilliant!

I am really interested to see the pricing for the parties this year given that demand for these Extra Hours events (which don't include all the extra stuff the parties have, and, at least for the evening ones, are more expensive than the parties) has been high

Ugh. Honestly they were getting too high last year for me. I enjoy the parades and the characters, but it's a steep add on for 5 hours in a park that's still super busy.

And that is what I understand is part of the high price with these current EMH events is that they are very limited in number of tickets so parks are empty. So maybe the price of the parties isn't raised, but now it is sold as being "cheap" and that is why it is crowded vs other options which are lower crowds but more expensive

Same here. Love Rey! Thought they could have made Rogue One more about the entire group rather than primarily about ONE person.

Unless they are doing some retconning, Rogue Squadron was formed between Episodes IV and V from the remnants of Red Squadron. The new movie occurs before Episode IV.
