News Round Up 2016

I like BTMRR more than 7DMT. Guessing since it is being billed as "family friendly" there is little chance the new Slinky Dog Coaster will rival RR (height restriction of 48")or EE for thrills. (height restriction of 44") I am hoping for an overall ride experience on par with BTMRR but would "settle for" something like 7DMT. :)
I'm with you! 7DMT is cute and fun enough, but I LOVE BTMRR! Honestly though, I think at this point I'm hoping for length over thrill level for the Slinky ride. 7DMT seems so short to me (and obviously Barnstormer is too), especially for how long people will wait for it!

Ok...makes more sense now. Thanks.

I thought you were lauding praise on the mine train...which is nothing.

I'll defend the mine train. It's not a thrill ride, but it's 10 times better than Barnstormer which is an off the shelf kiddie coaster with less than 30 seconds of ride time after you get up the lift hill. If your argument against 7DMT is that it's not worth a 90 minute wait I'll agree with you there, but I can't list 5 rides I'd be willing to wait 90 minutes for. It's a perfect first coaster for small kids, and I've ridden it 6 times now, and once you get over that it's too short, it's really a fun ride. I think a great addition to fantasyland.

Not that it is an instant green light or anything. Just for a thought exercise, what is the best wdw park for a zootopia land. First thought is AK obviously, but based on the pictures in the article, I'm not sure a "metropolis" of any type is a fit for the park. Even Avatar is in it's natural state. DHS mythical phase 3 or Epcot future world?

My DS would freak! He loves dressing up and dancing, so the Yule Ball would be right up his ally ... hmmmm ... there may be some trips to the dark side if this happens ...

Hey now! Don't be hatin' on the train.

I know it's not much in the way of a "coaster", but it's perfect for some (like me) who are terrified of coasters. It's one of the few that I can ride with my kiddos (DH usually rides with them), so I'd love to have another that makes me happy rather than scared.

I would think DHS not Epcot but knowing Disney I think it would go to AK.

See, I'm thinking a Zootopia is the quintessential Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow. Commercial for the movie even shows a monorail-esque train.

Would you revolt if that was Epcots ticket to rehab?

If they had strategically planned and operated the parks under the Iger junta properly...then mine train would never have a 2 hour wait...because it shouldn't

I do agree about that and we won't ride it unless we get there in time for a rope drop or have a fp+. And I'd wondered before if the wait time may go down in a few years after the "newness" wears off a bit, but it's been several years already and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. Honestly, I think the big draw is that anyone can ride it ... the littles ... scaredy adults ... the grands ... teens ... and if anyone can and will ride it, it's gonna increase the wait times. I also think too, that there are so few of these types of coasters, that guests are not spreading out, they are all converging on this one coaster. I'm gonna try Barnstormer again on our next trip as well as BTMRR for the first time, but if I "hate" them, it'll be back to the mine train for me.

Is there a way they could have done the mine train differently that could have reduced the wait time? I don't usually get into the technical side of the rides, so I'm not sure what could or should have been done differently. Or is it not so much the ride itself but something they should have changed park-wide?
