News Round Up 2016

Just got back from Zootopia. I don't know if it's the best since the lion king but it is very good. I think lion king still has the edge because of the music. Zootopia has a very good message though and is well animated. I think this just continues the next Disney animated Renaissance.

Our family took in the movie over the weekend as well. FWIW, DD7 did not like the movie. I thought it was good, but have no burning desire to see it again. :confused3

I'll defend the mine train. It's not a thrill ride, but it's 10 times better than Barnstormer which is an off the shelf kiddie coaster with less than 30 seconds of ride time after you get up the lift hill. If your argument against 7DMT is that it's not worth a 90 minute wait I'll agree with you there, but I can't list 5 rides I'd be willing to wait 90 minutes for. It's a perfect first coaster for small kids, and I've ridden it 6 times now, and once you get over that it's too short, it's really a fun ride. I think a great addition to fantasyland.

It's a c ticket...and a spade is a spade.

A 2 hour wait shouldn't be the deal.

And you - of course - know exactly what I'm talking about.

News On Nintendo
Japan's Sankei newspaper carried an article on Saturday claiming that a new Nintendo attraction, already announced by the two companies, would open at USJ in 2020 and detailing the location and cost: $350 million (¥40 billion).

USJ's Takahashi said that while plans for the attraction were moving forward, the details in the article were incorrect.

Oh please. You should know better than to throw the ticket letters about. They're meaningless.

Is the line too long? Sure. But that has nothing to do with ride quality. It's a fun ride, a little short but not deserving of the heat you send its way.

So here's the question... does the runner HAVE to have the photo package, or if someone in their family has it, and they are linked, then will they get the runDisney photos? (similiar to the ride photos. If you're linked to someone with the package, they will get the ride photos for you in their grouping.)
If your package has memory maker the entire group is linked to memory maker. I would imagine as long as you are linked you will get the photos.

I do agree about that and we won't ride it unless we get there in time for a rope drop or have a fp+. And I'd wondered before if the wait time may go down in a few years after the "newness" wears off a bit, but it's been several years already and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. Honestly, I think the big draw is that anyone can ride it ... the littles ... scaredy adults ... the grands ... teens ... and if anyone can and will ride it, it's gonna increase the wait times. I also think too, that there are so few of these types of coasters, that guests are not spreading out, they are all converging on this one coaster. I'm gonna try Barnstormer again on our next trip as well as BTMRR for the first time, but if I "hate" them, it'll be back to the mine train for me.

Is there a way they could have done the mine train differently that could have reduced the wait time? I don't usually get into the technical side of the rides, so I'm not sure what could or should have been done differently. Or is it not so much the ride itself but something they should have changed park-wide?

It's been less than 2 years and I think it's slowed down a decent amount. The first year it was open, RD was not even a feasible option and FP+ was hard to come by.

Star tours is staying as is at DHS however Disneylands will likely be rethemed.

Is "Star tours staying at DHS" confirmed? I haven't seen anything except speculation on the subject. Certainly it would stay "until" Star Wars Land opens...

I am quite positive more than one "insider" from WDWMagic has stated that star tours is staying and will be part of the SWL. I will have to look, but I think it was included in some info also sent by Disney on the new stuff.....

I know what you are talking about - I would agree a C or maybe D ticket - we don't have to go through the D ticket argument again and what used to be a D ticket right? The railroad? The Tiki Room? The Skyway? The E-ticket term has led people to try and rank other rides by A,B,C,D, and it isn't really how it worked. The only term that should really be used is "E-ticket" for a top flight ride - and 7DMT is definitely NOT an E-ticket, I agree.

But I don't really get your argument on this. Are you saying that DISNEY is doing something wrong by having people convinced to wait in line for 2 hours for this ride? How is that Disney's doing? Disney built a ride that in my opinion is VERY appropriate for the area of the park that it was built - in all of WDW, if anyplace should only have "all-ages" rides, it's Fantasyland.

Anyways - the length of the line as stand has little to do with what the ride "deserves" two hour waits for Soarin should've been over in 2005. But people still choose to wait in those lines, and therefore they exist because someone (many people) are willing to wait in them.

In the end, this is one case where Disney agrees with you. They don't want people waiting in long lines at all. They aren't spending money when waiting in line. That's what MDE/FP+ is all about. It's why they are adding on to TSMM and Soarin', get people out of line and into stores and spending.

I don't think it is official, but doesn't make any logical sense to take it out. It is a near-100% recyclable ride, they overhauled the entire ride when it went to 2.0 with changing very little outside the REX animatronic for C3P0. They can keep adding/changing the sequences every time a new movie comes out. If they take it out, they have TWO Star Wars rides in SWL, whereas with it they have THREE. I just don't see them taking it out in WDW. In DLR they MIGHT only because it will be set in a different land, but even there I'd be rather surprised. It's pretty popular, so unless people start getting sick of it, they'll find an excuse to keep it there.

Where it is located, I think it's fairly safe to say it could be worked into the equation. Probably on the outside edge of either area. You also have the Jedi training area, which I'm sure they'll keep. Certainly move JT with minimal expense....but might as well leave it too.
Too early to tell, and there isn't enough official info to really say for certain.
As much as we'd all love the details, I think they'll be pretty tightly kept. I have to believe their is a solid plan in place. Some details might not be firm. Some parts are probably subject to cuts, or a modular approach. They need not fill the real estate 100% from opening day. They can work building pads into the project for use at later dates as time and budget allows. Also allowing fresh new content over time.

Not even news but maybe a slight photo update taken from the new VWL DVC shoreline.

Just a bit cleared shoot.

I think the wait on Mine Train has a lot to do with newness, and a lot to do with it being at MK. Once upon a time, there wasn't much of a wait on Peter Pan, but those days are long gone.

I don't understand any of the FL lines. Why do some want to wait 60 mins for Pooh, but Votlm stays at 20 mins?
