News Round Up 2016

Well just reading WDWmagic, Martin is in flux trying to get confirmation on what things are happening right now. It seems that Star Wars could've moved up and into the LMA area rather than expanding into the parking lot. This of course would make sense with the closures. I believe I also read the phase three could've then been moved to the animation courtyard area. Everything seems to be up in the air right now.

I can't imagine they would break ground Next month, let alone this year, if things are really still up in the air. If they haven't even nailed down the location of this project ??? I mean, I hope they prove me wrong, or that they actually do have things pegged down. But I would imagine if they really don't know where they are building yet, its not getting started any time soon.

Yep. However you have a large amount of closures next month. Canyon demo is nearly done, and Disneyland demo is getting close. I could see them breaking ground in Anaheim but I'm not sure about DHS. It's also been said that the rivers of America will soon be drained in DL for the work going on. This is going to be an interesting few months to watch.

Yes that's what I've read too... Missing the location of the land is a pretty big mistake. If everything that's been tossed around is incorrect, we may have to reevaluate some things. It actually makes sense. Disney is preparing to close down all sorts of attractions in that area. Everyone said that was for staging. This would be much more logical. If they are aiming for a 2018/ early 2019 opening DHS will be fixed much sooner then anticipated. DHS phase three could be done by 2020.

It also means the Orlando competitive arena is significantly different then we were judging. Walt Disney World is going to be getting way way better much faster. Universal's aggressive roadmap looks less impressive when Disney is opening highly themed lands yearly for the next couple years.

This would be a seismic oversight.

It also means they're more committed to domestic parks then ever.

I agree.

I also like the last sentence the best.

We met a couple from England last year who were on their 11th WDW vacation. They went to Paris 1 time and said its simply not the same as WDW whatsoever.

I went to DL Paris once. I thought it was an embarrassment to the name, more like a King's Dominion.

Martin has been saying for a while that he was getting "conflicting" reports about the location. So that wouldn't be completely out of thin air.

Using LMA would be cheaper probably and certainly quicker. All depends what the goal really is here.

Lot of ifs and maybes. Well if there's any truth to it we will know soon at least.

If they want this done quicker I think LMA is the way to go.

It looks like it's been debunked. Interesting conjecture nonetheless. MiceAge was going to be in a tough place. I'm still watching the location though, and it ends up over at LMA it will be an enormous red flag personally.

I don't think using LMA sight first is a giant red flag.
It makes a lot of practical sense, but I still think folks are jumping the gun here.
If LMA area becomes Star Wars, then Star Tours is disconnected, which is odd, but not insurmountable....it could be re-imagined to a different theme, or we could find them doubling down on star wars content.
If they feel like they should double down on star wars, it may just mean that Phase 3 has been bumped up in priority. Get all the construction done at once and be done with. That could explain the budget cutting maneuvers, as a way to reduce debt service while expecting huge construction outlay. Doing all of that at once would be a HUGE egg to being paying the bill at once. However if they do it now, they can lock of construction contracts at decent prices, and perhaps price universal out of the market for developing their third gate.
It could also be akin to how they've made the movies....you film parts of the sequel now. Perhaps they are per-developing the LMA area?

Who said "Disney didn't do it this way?"

That's isn't the point I was making.

My point was it isn't good enough for the price hikes. Old stuff at double the price is the Iger credo.

The standard defense of "wishes" is "look at all those people in the HUB!!!"

...that proves that the wounded calf gets taken first and that PT Barnum was right :)

A lot of times I agree with things you say, but dude, this one is rough. I plan on using a FP for our first night for Wishes since we'll have flown from LAX all day. I live near Disneyland and we have the new fireworks and had more than one show during the year before that. Even still I will enjoy Wishes because it's a touching moment filled with emotion watching with my family and seeing my son's face light up as only children can. That doesn't make me a sucker.

If you're mad about the price hikes and staffing and hours reductions, I am too. I get it. But that doesn't make people who enjoy the experience with their families wounded calves. I can appreciate something just for what it is.

I'm not at all saying this to get into a big debate with you. I believe you're totally entitled to your different opinion, but I kinda feel like your post had some unnecessary name calling.

Well you could actually still connect to Star Tours by going behind muppets. It obviously isn't as good as having it directly attached to the land.

I agree with the rest though.
