My husband and I are going to WDW in early December. I want to make dinner reservations somewhere.. but 1, I realize it's getting late and 2, I want somewhere with a little romance that's not too expensive. We live about two hours away from WDW so we come to the area often, but it feels like we don't ever get to relax and just have a good time while we are there. It feels like we are just always at the theme parks. So, I would love some suggestions of some restaurants that would be a good fit for us.

Mmm. Disney food and not too expensive = hard to find!

Check out the menu's at these places:
Bistro de Paris in EPCOT:http://allears.net/menu/men_bisd.htm
Jiko at AKL (my favorite restaurant at WDW): http://allears.net/menu/menu_jiko.htm
Citricos at GF http://allears.net/menu/men_cit.htm
Narcoossees at GF http://allears.net/menu/menu_nar.htm

Expensive depends on your budget, of course, but an entree at Kona/Coral Reef/Chefs de France runs about $22, while one at a signature is about $10 more expensive (depending upon what you order). For me, $20 (for two people) is worth the added expense for the environment and service. The signature spots typically have better service, more relaxing environment, nicer dress, less children, more romantic, and more unique food offerings. Just in my exp, of course.

We personally have enjoyed Jiko the most of all the signature spots we've tried, but none have been disappointing. A later reservation will help cut down on the crowds/children as well.

I agree that "not too expensive" means different things to different people, but I think that Artist Point at WL is a pretty good combination of romantic and reasonable although the prices at all of the Disney signature restaurants keep climbing. I am lucky because my DW is a light eater and usually gets only a soup/salad and an appetizer, i.e., a cheap date. :)

Narcoosees at night is also a favorite because you can see Wishes and Electrical Water Parade from there before, after or during your meal depending on your ADR.

Congratulations on your 1st post!

Ive never done the signature rest. but will be there next wk on my honeymoon, we chose Ohana, San Angel Inn and CR. Now CR can get pretty loud but I believe we will be in our own little world anyway. San Angel the food may be so so but the atmosphere is super romantic, evening in a little Mexican village! Ohana b/c I love the Poly whats not romantic about Hawaii? True kids will be racing with coconuts but I think its cute! Romance and nice is what you make it not $$
My husband to be wanted CRT but we didnt have the time, thats another thought, whats not romantic about Cinderella castle? LOL
Whatever you decide will be lovely and you will always remember as your romantic honeymoon, let us know what you decide!

Saw the title of your post "Newly Married Couple Needs Rest. help" and thought "try separate bedrooms for a while, you should get some rest then. Sorry, couldn't resist.:lmao:

Dinner at a place like Narcoossee's is a little pricey (especially of you go for something like the surf and turf), but it's hard to beat for romance. You may need to check the calendar for fireworks times, but time your reservation so that you can eat and see the Electrical Water Pageant and MK fireworks, then walk around the resort and relax in the lobby for a while, maybe get a drink. You'll have a great night. As someone else said, for one meal it might be worth the extra expense.

While the quality at the Hollywood Brown Derby has gone down in recent years, it still has nice atmosphere and makes for a kind of nostalgic/romantic meal in the Studios. Dark woods, crisp linen's, nicely dressed servers, surrounded by all the old Hollywood decor. Not cheap, but not as expensive as something like Narcoossee's.

HaHa no they are looking for a place to get more energy silly!

Where are you staying? And what do you consider romantic? Quiet, low, light, less kids?

I would suggest Kona and Chefs De France. Both are lovely.

Wolfgang Puck Express is also really nice. It is "counter service" but you order your food at the counter and they bring it out to your table. (They give you a number to identify you) I know that sounds sort of weird, but they have a really good menu. The food is fresh and delicious and I can't imagine a more relaxing way to spend an evening than sitting out in the patio area and people watching while you eat.

Le Cellier is another good choice, but hard to get into, as you probably know.

For a splurge, there's no place like Jiko for a romantic night out!

I thought the same thing when I saw the title. I spewed water all over my desk! Thanks for the "unintentional" laugh. I needed it today!

:grouphug:

If your looking for "value" then I would suggest Boma. It's $26/person, but it is a buffet with great food! The AKL if fantastic and it may not be the most romantic restaurant, but there are no parades or characters at Boma.

I would suggest California Grill - beautiful sunset and view of the MK fireworks - well worth the expense. Even if you sit in the bar area and just have appetizers and a bottle of wine - that alone would be romantic.

Also - I was just there and I checked out The Wave - didn't eat there, but I've read good reviews of the appetizers. The bar area was nice and behind it were two intimate side rooms that were indigo blue and candlelit, with bench seating. It was very romantic in there. Again - hang out in there with some appetizers and that will save you a little money and still give you the atmosphere you are looking for.

Thanks everyone! I'm still up in the air but I'm not sure which one I'm going to choose because we don't have an exact date yet.

Hahah.. after I posted it, I re-read the title and I was like "wow that doesn't sound like I want it to sound!!" Thanks for the laughs :) :rotfl:

Great suggestion! I forgot about the Brown Derby. It's especially romantic when you are seated in a booth. I think that it's some of the best food that you can get in the theme parks and it is less expensive than the signatures.

First, if you go often I will assume you have the disney dining experience card which allows you 20% off your meals at table service restaurants, including your drinks. (alcoholic).

Also, if you go often, you already know there is nothing inexpensive about disney restaurants.

Our favorites,
Flying Fish, Artist Point, Le Bistro, Boma, Raglan Road, San Angel Inn, Biergarten.
Over at the Swan, Il Mulino and the breakfast restaurant (keep in mind there are no discounts for these restaurants, but they are delicious)
