Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

13lbs!!!!! at 31weeks!!!
Are you kidding me? I'm so stinking jealous of you :snooty:
Wish I only gained 13lbs... At the rate I'm going, I'll have a 6lb baby and will still have to lose like 50lbs.... :headache:
I'm blaming it on my fat genes... :lmao:

Yeah, I don't know how it happened. :confused3
I'm always shocked because I eat whatever I want, whenever I want. And with a grocery store next door to my office (we actually share a building, so when they make their fried chicken... mmmm ).. I mean that I literally get what I want, when I want. :rotfl:
I've been pretty lucky..

Especially since at 26 weeks he was already weighing in (via ultrasound, so of course it's approx.) at 2lbs10ounces.
I'm eager to see how big he is on Tuesday! My Dr. said she wouldn't be surprised if he was way over 4lbs already. :thumbsup2

How would I know they're contractions... it's my first baby.
Heck, now I'm paranoid that I'm not catching them and counting them properly...

I was having a ton of pains at work today (and I had them earlier this week too) when a nurse practitioner, who comes in daily so we all know him well, came in and my manager asked him about it. When I described it he said I was most likely having braxton hicks and I was like "Already? really?" and he asked how far and he LAUGHED at me and goes "Well, yeah, most women have had them by now."
I felt like an idiot.

I'm worried I'm going to mistake labor for something else.. thank god I live literally 5 minutes from the hospital and the house we bought is just down the street from it!!

My childbirth class is tomorrow. DH keeps asking me what the letter means by a "light breakfast" will be served. He doesn't see how "light" can be used in the description of a pregnant lady meal.
Our class is from 9:00-3:30 and we get breakfast and lunch. Yay, hospital food. :rotfl:

I hope Tracy is in labor!!!!!!!!!!!

Crossing my fingers.

Interjecting here to tell you that I labored all day with those kinds of contractions. I had no idea. They started feeling like what I expected contractions to feel like about 2 hours before DD was born. I barely made it to the hospital, and when I got there I was fully dialated!

Good luck!

See, that's my problem, I can't tell between contractions that mean something, contractions that are just BH or the baby pushing/moving... I'm so over all this :headache:

So is it totally nuts that I am now planning on NOT getting an epidural? :rotfl:

I didn't want one with my first, but finally, at the last minute, I asked for one (and glad I did)... My 2nd DD, I did natural, no epidural and OMG never again.. Sorry....can't do it!

I hope Tracy is in labor!!!!!!!!!!!

Crossing my fingers.

Obviously...no :sad2:
Lost the plug, spotting...went walking, started contractions. They weren't strong but DBF was freaking about it, so we went to hospital to check them out. My blood pressure was high.. 157 over 95. It's normally (yesterday even) 107 over 58... My contractions were 2-3 minutes apart, but they weren't doing the job. They monitored my BP, checked me, still dialted only to 2, but 70% effaced as opposed to 40% yesterday... Then the dr stripped me, again! Didn't know you could do it twice, but he said theres nothign left for him to strip and OMG it hurt like hell! Now, my body is killing me.. my back hurts, dont even want to think about walking and he said only the contractions that I can't even talk or move thru are the ones that should bring me back to hospital... sooo frustrating. I'm more miserable now than I ever remember being.
Ok, I"m done whining... I just want to cry

If anyone deserves to cry right now-its you! OMG, the stripping hurts! Of course not in comparison to childbirth, but it doesn't help that at this point you are already VERY uncomfortable and now your bottom hurts too! But...hopefully it will get the process sped up! I'll be thinkin' of ya today!!

Thanks...

I had a few contractions last night from 2-4.. but nothing major, then they stopped, so I went back to bed... It's such a beautiful day here I wanna get out, but honestly, walking is still uncomfortable :( I swear you'd think I weigh 300 lbs the way I complain and waddle... I've barely hit 150. But, of course, the spotting is more since yesterday, and my whole body hurts like I've had the flu. It's just crazy.
Maybe I'll feel better after my shower....

Contraction wishes to me today...lol :wizard:

Keep walking... even though it sucks, it will help! I know your pain as I was in labor for well over 48 hours. Have they mentioned trying pitocin to get things moving? That is where I ended up bc even though I was having contractions- they weren't strong enough.

Hoping it happens for you soon. I am sure that you are exhausted!

I'm pulling for you Tracy!! Complain here as much as you need to!! We don't mind!

So I think I'm done with my registries finally. And I stopped at Once Upon a Child and OMG I'm not allowed in there again until Lily comes!! I had a really hard time seeing things I had just registered for at half price! There was a swing I would have bought, but it was on hold--it was the exacgt swing I had registered for but in purple instead of pink!!! and 1/2 off ACK!
I did buy the same boppy pillow I registered for (it was brand new in package) for $10! My registry said that someone had bought it the day I registered and I'm afraid I accidently changed its status online. If someone did get it, hopefully they'll give me a gift reciept. I also got a care bears mobile!! It's perfect. DH and I were complaining that we couldn't find one we liked and then there it was for $5!

Congratulations to you and DH. Boys are funpirate:

Well we made it back in one piece, Thursday was our travel day & it was interminable, more on that later.

Our trip was pretty good. Weather was mostly pleasant, a bit on the cool side, but that was probably better for me. We did have one chilly drizzly/rainy day, which we spent at Epcot, so it was OK. I was really slowed down by pregnancy, which was a little surprising. Most days I rented a scooter to get around. It left DH feeling like he was alone in dealing w/ DS most of the time. I mean I was there, but skipped a bunch of the rides & I wasn't sharing in pushing him around like I normally would have.

For those who may not know DS5 has mild cerebral palsy, which for him means low muscle tone & everything is just that much tougher for him to do. He gets tired easily. We had bought a Maclaren Major special needs stroller on Ebay for him, mainly for this trip, but we'll certainly use it at other times as well. So after a day or two, something must have lodged in one of the wheels & our new stroller started shrieking like an old rickety shopping cart, it was pretty annoying. We made it through the trip with it, but we need to oil the wheels & see if it gets any better.

So most days we were out early & by lunch my son was asking to go back to the hotel for a break. So we did. We napped (great for me!) and then showered & changed & head back out for dinner. He still didn't make it to any late night parades or fireworks. By 8 we generally were heading back to the hotel, DS got a bath & into bed. The one warmer day towards the end of our trip, Wednesday we slept a little later did some shopping at DTD & went back to the hotel for some pool time. We also switched our dinner ressie that night from Citrico's to Artist Point so we had more time at the pool before we had to get ready for dinner.

So Thursday.... ugh. We had our flight scheduled at 6:20 PM, we were intending to check out, check our luggage at RAC & spend our last "big half day" (my son's words) at the MK. That didn't happen. I awoke at about 4:40 AM or so with a scarily familar tightening across my belly, the kind that makes it feel like hard like a football, rather than the soft mass it usually feels like. I'm immediately thrown into a panic. I get up, pee, get some water & try to calm myself, telling myself, 'ok one contraction does not mean anything.' My DH had moved to the other bed at some point during the night, to get DS back to sleep & just stayed there. I didn't want to wake them unnecessarily. So I lie in bed trying not to freak out, one hand on my belly until I feel it again at about 5:10. I woke my husband, tell him what's going on & that I think we need to get to a hospital.

He gets dressed. Goes down to the front desk, they call an ambulance and a cab. He comes back up & gets DS up, gets him dressed. The EMTs show up talk to me, take my vitals. BP is high (nahhhhh really? ya think?) and I'm packed off on a stretcher to Celebration Hospital ER. At this point, I think I'm losing them. I stay remarkably calm, but I really do think that going to lose them. We spend the whole AM in ER, they give me whole bag of fluids, not that I really needed them. And things calm down. Still very aware of my uterus, but no scary tightening... ER doc does an internal exam, cervix is still nice & closed, but it looks red (irritated I guesss) I get an U/S & the kids look good, h/bs at 155 & 156 -moving around like they should be. Not that I could see the screen. But I get that, the u/s tech wouldn't want potentially bad news to come from a woman figuring it out for herself from the u/s screen. But DH was there & he saw them. She did say that it appeared that the placentas had grown together & fused, not terribly uncommon. Report also said I had a cervical length of 3.7 cm - which I understand to be a good thing.

The ER did find red & white blood cells in my urine & they suspect a bladder infection & that may have set off the earlier contractions. They prescribe some abx & it takes a bit to fill the rx at the hospital pharmacy. They clear me to head home that night.

I don't reccomend having a 5 year old in the ER, if you can help it. He had a tough day. Time to have dinner, back later....

Glad to hear everything worked out okay.

We found out yesterday that we're having a BOY! I guess it's Money after all. :lmao:

Congrats on your news...pirate:!!!

Can I join in? I just found out I am expecting! My name is Elena and DH is John. According to my calculations we are due Dec. 1, but that will be verified at out appointment on April 28.

Welcome, and congrats!!

Looks like I joined you too soon. Had a beta yesterday and it was only 15 and my tests today are almost blank. I am not removing my siggie until AF starts though.

Positive thoughts coming your way!

We just got back from vacation. We had a good time but boy is it exhausting doing WDW prego.

Wishing all of you well, and looking forward to catching up with you all.

Thats funny, the first thing that disappeared off of my registry was the Wal-Mart cheaper version of a Boppy... Or at least, I think it's basically a boppy??..

Must be a popular gift! :confused3

I had my childbirth education class today.
They gave us a whole bag full of stuff.. apparently one of the OB nurses crochets so she makes hats for us. And we got a whole bunch of coupons that expired last week.. :rotfl:
And some diapers and a pacifier, etc...

It was a neat experience-- I was very impressed with the post-partum rooms.
Getting excited now. :lovestruc

Welcome back Ann! :) Did you rent a scooter at all, or were you walking all day? I was very glad to take a break in the middle of the day & catch a nap.:goodvibes

Well emily is now 5 months old and babbling and screeching like an eagle.:rotfl2: I can't believe that 5 months ago I was posting about her being born here and now she halfway to a year old. She had her first picture with the easter bunny yesterday

MyPhoto.jpg

she did so well with santa and bunny I have a feeling she will do well with mickey and all at disney:banana:

No scooter, I walked slowly but I walked. I had to keep asking DH to slow down. We did take it slow and got to the parks later in the day. I found it very hard to walk on a full stomach. I felt like my belly just exploded this trip, definitely a baby in there now! 7 months already...I can't believe it.:cool1:

Stargazer, Emily is a cutie. I just love her expression.

Those with kids already.. question..

I know I want to get pictures taken at a studio (Sears or whatever, nothing too crazy) and am hoping to take advantage of after Easter sales to get something *nice* for pictures that won't be too expensive.. since he probably won't wear it ever again.

Anyway-- when are they more alert and active and the best time to plan on taking these pictures? I know to buy big (especially since this is a big baby) but don't know to buy 3-6...6-9...

So question, did you contact them for the class or did they contact you? I sent in my admittance form for our hospital about a week ago. I guess i could ask my OB at the next appointment or call the hospital...

I went to the bridal shower and my friend is indeed pregnant. I don't know that id believe it was 31w (as another poster calculated)... but she said the baby measured 4lbs. She goes back this week for more extensive u/s so ill know then. I couldnt tell when she first came to the party-- she is super tall and wears really cute clothes. I could tell her pants were not maternity, but then we met in the kitchen during all of the present opening (i know, im terrible) and I made her lift up her shirt (we've known one another since i was 1yr and she was 6mos old). Her shirt was a cute dressy tank top but was bunched together at the bottom. She doesnt have baby anywhere but in the middle of her stomach. I suppose it could be mistaken for weight gain, although a bit firm for that (although to her credit shes never gained weight so she probably doesnt know what to expect-- neither is the sharpest tool in the shed-lol). So afterward we went to Target and looked a baby stuff. I couldn't believe we 3 days ago there was no mention of this, and 2 days later she has about 2mos to prepare..lol.

Anyone else have a lot of round ligament pain? I get a lot of sharp pain in my lower right side-- sometimes lasting shoots of pain for about 5min. or so (mainly in the afternoon/night).

Also, sometimes I feel like I get a little bit of a pain at night coming down from my uterus or something. I dont know how to explain it. I guess it would be like sticking your hand "up there" and then whatever is furthest up there is shooting some kind of pain back down at you (except ofcourse you arent sticking your hand down there-- its just pain shooting downward). Not terrible pain, but just a shots of it.

So question, did you contact them for the class or did they contact you? I sent in my admittance form for our hospital about a week ago. I guess i could ask my OB at the next appointment or call the hospital...

I had to call central scheduling at our hospital to arrange it. They are who I call for everything I do... ultrasounds, lab work, this class, etc. I only go to my Dr. to have my regular appointments and she only schedules my next appointment there... nothing else is done in her office.

They only do 1 class a month and only take 5 couples a class at my hospital, so I enrolled us a loooong time ago. The other hospital in town (where I am not delivering) takes everyone else... and my hospital just gives them a tour.

I have had some round ligament pain in my second trimester. My biggest issue, though, is in my posterior pelvic region. Very uncomfortable mostly in the evening and at night. I try to get everything done before I can sit down in the evening, cause once I do sit down, that's it :confused3

What are those types of pain exactly?
My books are all in my work station.

I get a lot of pain in my lower back on the right side.. usually in the mornings after I first get out of bed (or during a pee break, haha) and sometimes during the day, but it's more of a stabbing pain. I've found if I go to the bathroom, or feel Lucas shift afterwards, mine goes away. I've always assumed it had something to do with the way he is laying being breech and all.

Ultrasound tomorrow, we'll see if that baby is still BREECH!! :)
