Do you really want to know?

I begged for one but it was too late.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! :scared:
you poor thing...

Ok, I can't think about no epidural or I will freak. I don't deal well with pain...

me + pain = biggest baby around

are you traumatized?
Should I even ask?

It went really fast and it was intense, and I think I said "I just want this baby out of me" more than once. I am not traumatized but she is my last child. Funny though, when I hear the sond "Ring of Fire" it brings me back. :lmao:

You'll be fine!

So is it totally nuts that I am now planning on NOT getting an epidural? :rotfl:

Thanks, I hope I'll be fine... DH wants another one (this one isn't even out yet ). And if I get no epidural I'm afraid this will be the only one...

So... here's to pain meds!!! :thumbsup2

Shes DUE with a GIRL JUNE 5!! :scared1: WHAT? how did you not know before now?

Whoa! If I didn't know I was pg now, I'd think something was seriously strange. I'm a week behind her and there is no way you couldn't with me now. I guess eveyone shows and feels different though. Hopefully eveything will be happy for her.

I'm 30 weeks today! Yikes, time sure did fly on this one. I'm so glad the weather is getting nicer so I can clean up the garage finally and get moving on the nursery. DH has been working at the firehouse a lot so our time to get things done ends up being after DS1 goes to bed when he's not working. Not exactly the best time to move furniture and 100 pounds of stuff from the room next door!

This baby has moved up in the last few days. I'm finally a little less lopsided. DH saw the belly move at dinner table last night and looked at me like... did you see that? I wanted to say did you FEEL that? ha ha.

I don't think so! I gave birth to my preemie with no pains meds whatsoever, and granted he was only 2 lbs 5 oz, I've heard it said that birthing a preemie is harder than a FT delivery because the baby can't help.

I'm sort of anxious about *having* to get an epidural. As with twins the doctors generally want the epi in place just in case things don't go well, they can quickly jump to c-section. Oh & likely even if the babes are in a good position to give a vagin*l birth a try, I'll be in an OR, again just in case.

I'm not planning on having one either. I won't even consider it, unless I'm having an emergency c/s. (my nightmare personally!) The end is tough, so make sure you have a good support system when you are in transition and pushing. The last few cm's are tough, no doubt about it. But you're almost there and you'll be having the baby soon even though it will probably feel like you've been in pain/pushing,etc forever. I like to be able to be mobile and I don't want a catheter ,etc etc etc.

I did have an interthecal w/my DS (induced) which is often called a walking epidural. It's given in the same epidural spot in your back but instead of a line you just get a shot and the med lasts 45mins-3 hrs I think. For me, it lasts about 20 mins...takes the edge off but then BAM you know you know when it's wore off. But I was 10cm and ready to push at that point. I got a pudential block during pushing (I needed a repair anyway) so I didn't quite have the ring of fire feeling.

I personally think it's important to "feel" the pushing stage, let your body do it's thing.

It all will happen so fast really, once you get towards the end.

This time I have a midwife and a doula so I'm hoping they will help keep me focused during transition so I can do this totally med free. :hippie:

I remember my birthday being on Easter once when I was little... There was a bunny on my cake.

It's calling for snow showers here on my birthday as well. Go figure.
And I took the week for vacation, too! :headache:
Oh well. I thought I could use it to get more prepared... or maybe now to sit in bed with a book and a hot chocolate and watch the snow fall...

I wish I could take it off, whatever the weather! I'm trying to save everything for my maternity leave.

Talked to my library director today and she nixed my idea for reducing my hours...so it's 40 hours or I quit, which isn't an option. Oh well... :sad2: She was nice and did say she would try and come up with some other way we could reduce the hours, but for now I'm stuck.

So is it totally nuts that I am now planning on NOT getting an epidural? :rotfl:

No, it's not nuts. I wanted the same thing. DH and I did the Bradley method and I ended up with an epidural because after 20 hours on my own I was tired and getting no where.

I went in at noon for my 39 week dr appointment and she said BP was a little higher than it should be, so they were sending me to the hospital to get checked out. I was 2 cm and contracting every 5-6 minutes so they kept me. I wasn't feeling anything! So we walked, we played games, and then at 6 am the next morning I had enough. The pain was so intense I couldn't even speak. We did everything the classes taught us, and the best thing I could do was listen to DH and let it go. I felt like I was cheating him and my son by getting one because of all the work we did. All the classes, the books, the studying, the food charts. But after a few more hours, it was time to push and DS was born. There's nothing wrong with going into it knowing you don't want drugs. I sure didn't. And although the staff was totally understanding that I didn't want any help, they were equally understanding when I asked for it. Just keep an open mind. :thumbsup2

You're not nuts... you're a BRAVE lady.
If it wasn't for the promise of painless meds I wouldn't be 34 weeks long right now... :lmao:

There's this show on tv (not sure if it's Discovery or TLC) "I didn't know I was pregnant". I watched 1 episode and it was pretty amazing.
Like Magimus said, apparently all their clothes still fit and stuff. And some of them have problems with irregular periods, so missing them was not a telling evidence or something. All most of them know was that they had a really bad pain, went to the hospital to be told that they were in labor. Isn't that amazing?

I'm at 34 weeks and look like a beach ball. There's no way people would not know I'm prego. I've looked like a beach ball for at least 2 months now. So it is pretty darn amazing that these women have no clue that they were pregnant.

ill be interested in seeing what she looks like tomorrow, that far along. Im 16wks and dont look a bit pregnant. I sure do feel it though. I dont know, from the moment i found out i was pregnant its like i felt different. Just not "normal".. not that i was abnormal, but you know!

I like to think that I would have noticed before this point, but I probably could have been one of those people easily!

I don't usually stare at my stomache, so noticing movement would have been out and I don't feel a whole lot of movement, just see it.
I've only gained 13lbs... and sure my belly is getting bigger, but I might have just passed it off as a weight gain and told myself I'd lose it later. :rolleyes1
I went all summer without a ., I was so messed up. I'd been to the Dr. 9-15, talked about why I was screwed up, etc. etc.
I ONLY took the test in October because my Dr. told me to before I started a pack of BC pills, just in case. I seriously just thought it was going to be another negative, like I'd had ALL summer w/o my . ... except, this one was +!
I didn't have any morning sickness, life is so chaotic right now... I probably could have slipped through realizing it but again, I hope not.

Maggie- you'll definitely have to update us tomorrow after seeing your friend. It all sounds like a soap opera to me! :scared1:

I hope no one feels ill towards me but I am definitely pro-epidural! I am a wimp when it comes to pain. At the end of my first born, they let up on the amount of pain med I was getting so I could feel to push. There was a lot of pressure but not so much pain.

If I could do a water birth, then I probably wouldn't do an epidural but I don't have that option at my hospital.

But kudos to all of you that plan on going totally natural! :thumbsup2

cseca-I just had to giggle when I read about your "gas pains". Thats too funny! And it sounds like something I would do! Especially with the first born. I mean, how are we supposed to know for sure what contractions feel like? Everything is so uncomfortable at that point that I wouldn't necessarily know the difference either!

I was trying to hold onto my stuff, too, because they told me my gallbladder might land me in the hospital for a few days at a time... yet I've been fine the last two months so I took the risk.
I've got a week left of vacation after this week and about 4 days of sick leave.. so I'm crossing my fingers I don't jinx myself. Only 7 weeks to go after this week is up so I am crossing my fingers that I left enough "just in case" time. It's nerve-wracking, trying to find the right balance.

You love your job, don't you? I wouldn't imagine quitting would be an option-- it seems like you really, really enjoy it. :)
I hope they can work something out that works great for you and Lily. :thumbsup2
At least you'll know all the right books to get her started on... :upsidedow

I watched that! DH was like, come on! But I told him look at how different everyone is when they're not pg. What did they think the moving around was? I know my friend had her placenta in the front so she didn't feel the kicking in the beginning, but she did at the end for sure.

Did anyone catch the baby story today? They changed the times on me but I caught the new one today. The lady was having twins and she went into labor at home and ended up having one in the kitchen and then one at the hospital. She had her video diary camera going and said she was going to wake her husband up. Well, it was too late and when she said the baby just popped out and landed in her pajama pants my mouth was gaping! I think it was the best baby story I've seen. The paramedics came to help and I kept thinking if we have this baby at home I would know a bunch of the firemen and medics. :lmao: Great, nice to see you again! Want to take a look???

Good luck Tracy!

Staley, your two are just precious. I've been thinking about you & wondering how BF &/or pumping were going for you. Would really like an update if you have time. :goodvibes
Thanks! Having twins is so incredible! Im tired, but holding the both of them at once... its so neat! :lovestruc

Anyhow.. I know Im odd, and it is supposed to be a wonderful bonding experiance and all.. But I dont like breastfeeding. I dont know why, Im guessing because it takes so long. I have SO much to do, and I am having a hard time sitting and taking such a long time feeding just one baby. So I am pumping 5 or 6 times a day. I dont pump NEAR enough for both babies.. I am getting about 5-8 ounces every time I pump, and the babies are eating at least 4 ounces every two to three hours. I have it worked out to where they have breast milk during the day, and formula at night. My lactation consultant told me to check into going on Reglan to up my supply, but I am just going to keep up with what i am doing for now.

And am I totally crazy to be looking forward to having more babies??? :scared1: Maybe Im just sleep deprived. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Mikalahs B-day is on Easter this year!! We are taking all the kids to my moms for the weekend and having a birthday/Easter celebration at her house.

I was going to try to go natural if both babies were head down.. But Jazz was breech, so my dr recommended an epi.. because a breech extraction could be.... uncomfortable. :scared1: It just SOUNDED awful! So i went with it.. and I am glad I did! The worst pain I felt was having the epi put in.. and that didnt hurt hardly at all. But seeing the Dr. with her arm in me up to her elbow... :scared1: and pulling Jazz out the way she did... I was glad i had that epidural!

but I got to deliver in the hospital room.. Not in the OR. But all the other women on my twin boards gave birth in the OR. So that might just have been my Dr.

You know as much breastmilk that you can give them is just great. I'm certainly not going to give you any grief about not breastfeeding exclusively. As someone who has exclusively pumped before, and is now expecting twins.... well I don't think I could do it long term again. That's why I'm hoping these two are champion nursers, so I don't have to pump again. I do know that I am capable of producing enough milk for two, so that isn't my concern. If nursing doesn't happen, well I'll try to keep it up while they are very small, but I don't foresee a long term pumping solution in my future, not this time around

I haven't had detailed discussions w/ my OB, but it sounded like he was OK w/ trying a ******l delivery if the kids were in good positions, but it did sound like he'd like an epi in place & delivery in an OR. That may be standard at the hospital I plan to deliver at too.

13lbs!!!!! at 31weeks!!!
Are you kidding me? I'm so stinking jealous of you :snooty:
Wish I only gained 13lbs... At the rate I'm going, I'll have a 6lb baby and will still have to lose like 50lbs.... :headache:
I'm blaming it on my fat genes... :lmao:

Ok, that IS scary... as much as I want a quick delivery I don't think I want to have my baby at home without medical supervision... wow... That's one heck of a delivery.

Heck, now I'm paranoid that I'm not catching them and counting them properly...
