Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

I can not find any cute boy clothes... boo! All the girl stuff is sooooooo cute, I went into like 4 stores today and I didn't buy a single thing, good for hubbys wallet, bad for Acorn, lol.

Welcome to being the mom (mom-to-be lol) of a boy! I had good luck with DS1 when he was little at Marshall's and TJMaxx. They have a ton of cute RL and Tommy stuff for less. Maybe give them a shot. If not, try Burlington. They carry a lot of Carters and stylish boy stuff that doesn't involve trucks, monsters, or skulls!

PS- We went to the kids museum because it was raining here today and DS was wearing the following: jeans, blue and black shoes, and a white shirt with wagons, firetrucks, and cars. This woman looks down at him, after her kid took DS's blocks away, and said give those back to that little GIRL! I looked around because there's no way she meant MY DS, but she looked at me and then said, or boy... I just can't tell! and laughed out loud. I was so angry (or fill in your favorite word). I said, you mean my SON? So everytime I saw her later on, I would announce what a good boy he was being! For real, if you're not sure just say baby. That covers everyone.

The Pack N Play is a bone of contention between me and my mom. I just doubt we's really use it. It would take up the entire floor space in our living room. It would be easier to put the baby on the floor or in a bouncer or something...

From one new mom to another- I can tell you that the pack n play is the BEST THING ever!! well, at least if you have more than one level where you live... You will be limited with how much you can go up and down stairs for the first 2 weeks so it really helps to have it downstairs. we have the one with the changing table attached and the bassinet piece as well. Allison seems to like sleeping in this more than she does her bassinet in our room!! I would leave it on the registry!

Can I officially join you ladies???:banana:

As for the pack n play - I didn't use it a lot when DS was younger except to sleep in when we had quests in his room. Now that he is older it's great for time outs and travel. My BFF however used hers all the time as a changing table downstairs. So if you have two levels I'd totally get one. It's also great to take with you when visiting people.

Boys clothes ... what are you looking for? I don't like dressing DS in the boys stuff that is like sweats and onsies all the time. He's too old for that now but even when he was tiny I just didn't like that stuff. I always dressed him in "real" clothes. I really like Gymboree, The Children's Place and Gap. I love the Children's place shorts and polo's and tee's, they also usually have these awesome one piece jumpers. Carters is good for those too. Gymboree is hit or miss based on if I like the current lines but since he was born in 2007 I have liked more than I have disliked. I don't care for Old Navy much right now but when he was younger Gap had cute stuff. I can't afford it now and find similar stuff at the other stores.

this is the story of my life!!! be prepared...much easier to find cute girl clothes then boys. Usually I luck out at baby gap, but not for this baby....

I'm on boy #3, luckily I like polo shirts, khakis, sweater vests and sport jerseys...

Welcome, loved your ticker so much I changed mine! ;) I Haven't seen that type before.

We did not get our PNP as a gift but it worked out fine as DS slept or sat in the bouncey seat downstairs (I bought a 2nd one for upstairs only). We have a PNP that my mom used for daycare naps and kept it after she passed away for our "someday" babies. It would have taken up a lot of space in our living room so the bouncer was easier. Plus we have 2 sets of stairs, one from the kitchen to the downstairs living room and then another set from the hall to the same room. So I would have to lug it up and down one way or the other. I could just see DS launching some toys his brother's way into that PNP.

CONGRATS!!!!

I vote for Old Navy and Kohls for cute boys clothes :thumbsup2

Sidenote - For the past 2 days I've been exhausted! By exhausted I mean, I sleep 10-12 hrs...get up...maybe run to the bank or store, then come home and nap for 1-3 hrs.... get up, make something to eat, lay on the couch, play with DS, nap for another 1-3 hrs.... and possibly another nap before bed.
I need to have this baby soon!! LOL

I like the ticker, too, but I'm so close now I'm going to leave mine alone!

I had a good checkup today. I gained 2 lbs in 2 wks, but I've only gained 16 overall so I feel pretty good about it. The dr. said they would start doing nonstress tests next time (in 2 wks) so I would have longer appts. I don't remember these, but it has been over 9 yrs since I had a baby so I could have forgotten. Anyone want to fill me in?

I'm stressing over my current grad class. My professor can't open any of my assignments that I sent through the digital dropbox, and I've sent them in several different forms. He told me today to just email them (I've tried attaching but it still didn't work so he wants them pasted into the main body), so I spent the last hour cutting and pasting 5 assignments into emails! And I have to go to AA meetings starting tomorrow night! It is a group counseling class, and I have to observe. I'm sure it will be all over town that the very pregnant Algebra teacher is going to AA!:rotfl:

Wow, I wish I'd kept up my weight gain (only 13lbs total at my last appointment) but I KNOW I'm packing on the pounds now... :rotfl: When DH gets home from walking the dog I'm going to have chocolate ice cream and bananas. Yum.
(He's ordered me to the bed because I had a crapton of pain in my back and stomach that went away with lots of water so he's convinced I was experiencing symtpoms of preterm labor. I know I shouldn't have let him talk to that nurse when I was in the ER!)

Anyway- I had what they called a baby "stress" test a few weeks ago. They hooked me to a regular monitor and did all sorts of mean things to him-- loud noises, bright lights, vibrations, shaking my whole stomache, etc... to try to get him to move. Don't know what a non-stress test would be, unless it's just the monitor without all the extra "stressers"?

He told me they would hook me up to the monitors and I would tell them when she moves? What if she is sleeping during those 20 or 30 minutes? She's a wiggler, so maybe she'll be moving then. Maybe I need some chocolate on the way to the appt. (The ice cream and bananas sounds heavenly!)

I'm so tired this morning-not a good nights rest in a few nights. WE've moved into the guest bedroom while DH is painting our old room-soon to be DD's and the baby's room. The bed isn't as comfortable coupled by the fact that my belly pulls on my back and gives me a backache, even with a pillow under it. And then my hips start hurting so I am constantly rolling from side to side with some back sleeping (very little!) in between.

It sounds like most of you have done well with weight gain. Me...not so much! :scared1: I have gained a pound a week since the beginning. I hate how I look-not just pregnant but fat. I've never really had this much weight before.

Not too mention I am extremely emotional today. Its just not starting out to be a good day!

Sorry for the bummer post!

Hello all!

I went for an ultrasound yesterday because my Dr. thought that I may not be as far along as I thought. So we did a sonogram to verify dates. I was only 4 days off so my due date has moved back to October 5... darn it! Well I guess that is better than two weeks!!!

We got to see the baby and see it moving all around! It was pretty awesome!:goodvibes

I 2nd This!! We also do not use the pack n play for napping but we have the one with the changing table and we keep it downstairs filled with diaper supplies. So nice not to have to go upstairs to change him. In fact we have hardly used the one upstairs! Plus it will be nice when we go to Canada in July and if he would stay at grandmas!

I had to have that the last two weeks I was pregnant bc of my blood pressure rising and all of my swelling. Here I thought he was moving but apprently some of the moves i felt were contractions. I didn't know I had never been pregnant before and they didn;t hurt just a tightening across the belly.:confused3

Even though I've had 3 kids...sometimes the movements and contractions can be confusing!!! They have so little room to move, so they tighten into a ball.
She's driving me crazy as I sit here!! LOL

Thank you! It turned out soooo much better in real life than I could have ever imagined!!! We still have crown molding to put up and a curtain over the closet that the color will match the curtains... but it's so much closer! Woohoo!

The glider is from Target. I ordered it during their huge baby sale in February...
It's this one: http://www.target.com/dp/B0009KKLDM/183-5834540-8434932
It's wonderful, heavy-duty, super comfy, etc.. I got lucky when I took a stab to buy offline (there isn't a Target anywhere near here!)
Though, I took a chance because after the baby sale savings, free shipping and my companys discount (10%, I can send you a link if you want!) I only paid $115.43.
Shipping was originally $74.99--- EEK!!! :scared1:

YES! I remember when that glider was that price. I cannot believe I didn't order one. Im seriously kicking myself right now! What a steal! And it looks so cute too!

I would get it from Walmart too then, especially with their ship to store option.

Maggie-you got in trouble for posting a freebie! What has happened over there?

The quality of the gliders at Target (and I am assuming Walmart if they are the same) are just fine. They aren't the best out there but you would have to pay a lot more for those!
Yes, thats me, the trouble maker. Ahh-- you know the freebie that gets posted once a month- and has been posted for years? The Too Timid Freebie where the little quill guy comes out and repremands the poster? Yeah- well ive posted it the past couple months and got in trouble. I dont know why its never been addressed until now- or my post. But it got me some pretty good points!? Over a freebie!

Patsy, loved the pic of the bedroom!! I don't have pics of Ellas (baby to be) room up yet, but it's Classic Pooh and I love it!! Here are a couple pictures of my DS's room, I love his room too :) His aunt painted his dresser, we painted the walls and I decorated :goodvibes

His true 'cute' crib bedding was in the wash, and we lost the mobile off the crib shortly after he continued to pull it in there with him....lol

I hate wal-mart too, so luckily my co-workers knew that and got me Target giftcards instead :) lol

LOVE the room!! I love nautical looking rooms!

Update for me:

I went to the DR yesterday and my gender u/s is in 2 weeks (I find out at 18weeks). They said if they cant see the heart, lungs, etc, ill just get another u/s (Bummer, right? LOL jk).

As for weight gain- im 16 weeks, small build (although I do have big hips), and have only gained 3 1/2lbs. Its not really even 3 1/2lbs the doctor said. My 12wk apt I was down 2lbs and never have had any sickness so they dont know if they ever got my weight right the first time (ie it fluctuates during the day, etc). In the last 4 weeks ive only gained 1/2lb. Im really not even showing hardly. I don't really look pregnant at all unless im wearing maternity clothes with the big belly band thing that makes you definitely look like you have a belly. My belly isnt pointy or anything. Last night we saw some people we knew at the imfamous Wal-mart and they commented that I didnt look pregnant at all. Im happy about little weight gain, but scared at the same time. The heartbeat was good though. I know the baby doesnt weigh that much right now anyway, but i dont want to pack on the serious lbs later on and then have a ton of stretch marks.:scared1:
