Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

It's a girl! The tech says there is no doubt. She is measuring 2 days ahead of schedule, with really long legs (I'm 5'2" tall:rotfl: ). Her heartrate is 143.

Dh has barely said 2 words since we left the dr's office. I'm not thrilled with him. Ds11 started crying during the sonogram-he is devastated. Dd9 was giddy, until dh said something about his friend, who dd9 is in love with, calling this baby "baby girl", too. Dd9 started crying that that was her nickname, and now she's worried that everyone will like the baby more! So I had a pleasant trip home.

They'll get over it.

Now I have to add that when dd9 left her stuffed rabbit, that she sleeps with every night and takes everywhere, at his mother's last night after our Christmas there, he dropped us off at home and drove over an hour each way to get it so she'd have it when she woke up this morning. And he let her sleep with me, while he slept on the couch, so she wouldn't cry. And it was our anniversary. So he is a good guy-just not so great today!

I love that your husband will shop too! They seem to be a rare breed around here. I keep telling my girls to pay attention at Daddy running mommy a bath, putting my socks on for me, doing the shopping, or vaccuuming or brushing their teeth ... I tell them these things are IMPORTANT in a man and they need to make sure that they choose partners that will partner with them and not make them do all the work! Of course, they are 6 and almost 4 so it might be going over their heads but I dont want them to end up like so many of my friends and one of my sisters w/ do-nothin hubbys!!!

We are not quite sure where Tessa came from. The name, I mean:lmao: !!!

We told Annabel she could name the baby ... after we vetoed many many many names that didnt quite fit w/ our family (like Tijuana, jijuana ....) When she came in to her sisters room and said, how about Tessa Brianne? My husband, older daughter and i yelled "great!!! we love it!!! good job!!"

OUr oldest daughter picked the name Annabel so we felt this was only fair...figure some day we will need to get a pet and let Tessa name it ;)

I can see from your ticker you are almost a third of the way there...almost to the fun part where you will feel better and look so cute w/ a little bump!!!

I think that is a great message to instill in your daughters! My mom used to do EVERYTHING including work. I hit puberty and suddenly became a major feminist and really let my parents have it. It drove me nuts! My dad actually started helping out! Now he loves to do the laundry and he even cooks.

That's a great story!! Such a great name.

I'm hoping that I might get the best Christmas present ever---the ability to EAT!!! lol My morning sickness started soooo early that maybe I'll get lucky and it'll end a little early too. All I care about is that it does end!

We all have our moments, but that was definitely a bad move. Sometimes, you just don't know what they are thinking. :confused3

Oh dear. You're right, though, they'll get over it. And they'll be HAPPY to have a baby daughter/sister. :)

Is anyone else having trouble getting their appetite back after the morning sickness has stopped. It's been at least 5 weeks since I've been sick but still I don't really hunger for anything. Or I'll be extremely hungry and I'll take a few bites and I'm full. I'm wondering if my stomach has shrunk form the whole vomitting fiasco?

I can't eat much at one time. We stopped by our favorite burger place on the way home from the dr's office, and I couldn't eat half of mine.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm just so concerned because I'm not gaining anything.

My wt was the same as my last visit. This is the first one that I haven't lost any-I'm still below my pre-pregnancy wt though. The dr., who I just met today, wasn't concerned. He says my lab work came back fine. The baby is measuring 2 days ahead of schedule, and weighs 10oz. The tech said everything was normal.

The dr I was seeing told me she was no longer doing OB after Nov when I first saw her early in this pregnancy. She picked this new dr, and I really liked him. He and dh had a conversation about turkey hunting after he listened to the heartbeat, so dh really liked him, too.

Dh called from work a few min ago. He had called 2 of his friends (including the one dd loves) and told them. The 1st thing that friend said was "so we'll have baby girl #2." Dh told him about what happened, and threatened his life if he calls this baby "baby girl".:rotfl: Dh apologized for being upset, but said he was just so sure it was a boy. We all were, so I understand that. And this is our last baby, and he loves spending time with ds11, so he was really hoping for a boy. I understand-just don't want him sulling for 5 more months!

Oh that's good! I'm so glad he called the friend and gave them a heads up. That should avert another crisis in the future!

So when your doc does the ultrasound, do they have to send the images to a radiologist to interpret?
Nope.. Just checks them out in the office.
Has anyone else become very interested in baby shows on tv, even the ones they probably shouldn't even be watching? I was watching Special Delivery this morning, and I keep tuning in to all these shows where really scary things happen!
I do!! My kids watch them with me, and even my three year old know all about child birth now. My ds was asking my mom about when I was born, and she was trying to be cagey, and not really say anything.. I told her it was FINE. He knows all about where babies come from, and how they come out... He is very interested in what is happening, and will gladly tell you all about the positioning of my placenta, if you ask. :lmao: My mom asked if he was going to be at the birth, and he looked at her... DUH. Of COURSE I am. :lmao:

I watch them in the morning before getting moving and going to work. I have to tell myself that these shows highlight all the problem deliveries and to not get worried. So far, no problems detected with my wife and her pregnancy, so I shouldn't get worried about anything yet.

I never had morning sickness, but I've lost weight and I think it's basically because of what you're talking about.

I don't eat anywhere near as much as I used to... I used to get an order of breadsticks from a local pizza place for lunch all the time, I can't eat even 2/3 of it anymore these days. We ordered pizza tonight (worked on the new house all day) and I ate one piece and that was it. No more.

So I know what you mean!

Merrry Christmas everyone! Dd9 and I are about to go out and buy groceries for tomorrow, and a stocking for the baby! I want her to have something under the tree, too. Then we are coming back here to bake some gingerbread cookies for Santa, and some chocolate chip for daddy:rotfl: . Then we are heading to my parent's tonight for our Christmas there. We'll do our Christmas in the morning, then to dh's father's house for his Christmas at lunch. Then we can rest.

I had a meltdown at dinner last night. Dh, ds11, and dd9 were all sulled up about the baby being a girl. dd9 was happy at 1st, then decided she was jealous of the baby. The others just knew it was a boy. I went off! I told them I was sick of everyone acting like someone had died, and I hoped the baby never found out how they acted today. I told them I had planned a fun family day and they ruined it. I think I shamed them all, because I didn't have to deal with it anymore last night. I was so pissed at them all! I'm glad I got it out of my system and now we can enjoy Christmas.

:thumbsup2 You GO mama!!! Sometimes... you gotta put the smack down.

Katie now has a Cinderella stocking, a pink cap with camo trim, a Strawberry Shortcake hardpage book, and a little brown haired doll/rattle. Friday I'm going back to Walmart to see what is clearanced, and hopefully get her some Christmasy Disney clothes for next year-hated to pay full price today!

I'm really excited about my little girl!:cloud9:

Dd9 and I made gingerbread cookies, and ds11 came over to help. He started talking to the baby and calling her Katie (he talked to "Noah" every day), so I think all is ok now.

Merry Christmas, to all who celebrate!

Had my appt yesterday, all is well. Next visit, we will schedule my csection (24 week appt). He said, go to your due date, go back a week and pick a day around there (of course not saturday or sunday)..see what works for you :)

This of course is only tentative, as they are not going to let me have another huge baby and if he gets to big, they'll do an amnio to check lung development and take me earlier. So..next visit will be good...schedule my date, do my 2nd 3 hour glucose and schedule another ultrasound to check size !!

Merry Christmas! How fun to pick your little one's birthday!!!:goodvibes

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We enjoyed our day immensely! Did anyone get any little presents for the new baby? I was really surprised to get a few little things. Very thoughtful of people.

I got several presents for the new baby. A baby's first disney bear from my mom's recent trip to WDW. A infant tigger toy from one aunt. and this incredible lambie blanket (I had never even heard of them) from my other aunt. My brother got some red sox/patriots infant toys.

Very thoughtful...

I had a great Christmas, but no one brought anything for the baby except Santa, who filled up her stocking. Of course, most of the family didn't know what I'm having until today.
