So when your doc does the ultrasound, do they have to send the images to a radiologist to interpret?

My doc tells me what she's seeing right then and there. The same when I had a level II with a tech. I don't think she sends them anywhere, they just go in my file. Nobody's mentioned a radiologist. But I guess every doctor does things a bit differently. Like the whole pee-in-a-cup thing. I do that in the doc's office, but obviously not everyone else does.

I just had an ultrasound today, and the little rascal is still a girl (didn't change her mind :cutie:), head down and about 4 pounds. She's 53rd percentile overall, so her growth is trending just a few days ahead of schedule. I've gained 18 pounds since the beginning of the pregnancy. :woohoo: My doc thinks if she keeps growing at the same rate, I'll have a baby in the high 7 pound range. We'll see how big she is when she comes out.

Welcome! :yay:

Yeah, just different ways of doing things. I find it interesting, the differences. The tech told us what she was seeing too. Pointed out everything, told us the measurements as she was recording them, but she still sends everything to the radiologist for closer examination and then he does up a written report that I go over with my OBGYN. A copy of it gets sent to my family doc too.

Well, with the level II ultrasound we had, we didn't do it with a doctor present, just the tech. She did deliver it to a doctor to review (not my regular one) who saw us after the tech was done, and then they sent all that info on to my OB. But I don't believe that doctor was a radiologist. My doc's office doesn't have the level II equipment, so that's why I had to have it done elsewhere.

I had an ultrasound a couple of years ago to check my gallbladder. The tech didn't tell me anything about what she saw, and I'm pretty sure a radiologist went over the images and sent the report to my family physician. It makes sense why you're having things done the way you are.

Hi everyone! Back from my WDW trip!

I hope you all had a great week. I'm going to go back and do some reading to see what's been going on.

The weather was AMAZING, but the trip wasn't that great. I had a really hard time with the nausea and my moodiness. It was rough, but the weather--OMG! :teeth:

Congrats on Baby James - he is beautiful! That's the kind of labor story I like to hear too.

My DH has been to every appointment and ultrasound so far, and has been in the room the whole time for all of them - he even stayed for the pap! However, so far all of my appointments so far have fallen at a time when he was already off from work anyway. I have another appointment 12/26 that he is coming to since his work is closed (we are hoping to hear the heartbeat on the doppler), and he will also take time off from work to come to the NT scan on 1/5. After that, he will probably stop coming to the routine appointments, but he will definitely be there for the big 18 week ultrasound.

So, we are planning to tell our whole family on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. It's a little nervewracking - we haven't seen the baby or heard the heartbeat since our last ultrasound on 11/19, over a month ago. I am just hoping that everything is still going well! I'm still feeling pretty sick, so hopefully that's a good sign (even though it's not very fun!).

Has anyone else become very interested in baby shows on tv, even the ones they probably shouldn't even be watching? I was watching Special Delivery this morning, and I keep tuning in to all these shows where really scary things happen!

Ok, I'm curious. Is that all doctors in Canada, or just random ones, yours included? Is it something mandated by the Canadian health system?

Welcome baby James!!!

..and caitty13. We're close together on our due dates! :)

They called and just made my appointment for my Level II ultrasound. It is January 26. I can't wait, hopefully the baby will cooperate and let us know the sex.

My morning sickness seems to be lightening up a bit. It does not seem to be everyday now. I hope this means it is starting to fade completely.

Actually, I'm the opposite. I watched those shows like crazy before I got pregnant, but now, I can't bear to watch. I'm still in the semi-terrified, I-can't-believe-this-is-happening phase. I honestly don't like to talk about the baby with anyone besides DH and you guys. :confused3 Now my symptoms get talked about with everyone since I have to explain why I am sick/completely psycho. :thumbsup2

Speaking of symptoms--I have a pretty nasty cold right now that I fear is turning into a sinus infection, but other than that I feel great! I've been slightly nauseous, but I've been keeping everything down (albeit limited quantities of 'everything.') This is a pleasant change from the really bad evening sickness I was dealing with. But this morning I'm actually hungry and not nauseous, which is crazy with the yucky sinuses. I hope I'm turning the corner and it's not just the cold that is holding off the yuckies...

There is no Canadian healthcare system as such. Healthcare is mandated and managed by each individual province. So, practices do vary from place to place. I do think, though, in most places you have to actually go to the radiology department of the hospital to get an ultrasound. I have two friends who are expecting right now and all three of us are in different provinces and it seems that the radiologist does a report in each case, after a tech carries out the ultrasound. As I said in a PP, my friend whose DH wasn't able to come in until part way through, obviously has a different procedure than I did. There are other differences too. My other friend got a photo for instance but they don't do that here, so we didn't. That same friend chose to pay extra for some sort of 3D ultrasound that I know nothing about. Things like that may very well vary from hospital to hospital. So, I think in order to really know what the differences are provincially, we'd have to hear from more mothers-to-be in Canada.

Well he's here! We did not make it to my induction date, he came a day earlier! I woke up at 12:30am early Wednesday morning with a really painful contraction and went back to sleep. 30 minutes later I had another one so I started a bath to help with the pain. I was so worried if I went into labor the house wouldn't be vacuumed so while I was in the tub my husband vacuumed the house, took out the trash, and cleaned the litter boxes! :rotfl: My contractions started coming so fast, and I thought we should go to the hospital just in case. We got there around 3 am and I was in so much pain they had to get me a wheelchair. When they checked me I was already 5 cm :scared1: This happened in less than 3 hrs, I thought first time moms it was supposed to take awhile!! I told them I wanted the drugs ASAP, but they still had to call my doctor and get info from me. About an hour later they were able to give me medication and I was 8 cm then. I felt great after the epidural!! I pushed for about 20 mins and James was born at 9:07 am after less than 9 hours of labor. He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz, and was 21 inches long. It was by far the best day of my life, and he is a great baby. He is not fussy and is an amazing eater and sleeper!! We are so happy to have him home for Christmas, we are having so much fun with him.

Sorry, I don't know how to make the pictures smaller!!

I hope everyone has a great holiday season and great deliveries!!''

Goodnight, you moonlight ladies;
Rockabye sweet baby James . . .
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose;
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet baby James.

Congratulations, and welcome Baby James!!

Hi ladies!

I am in the final stretch and its getting comical!

We live in the midwest ... so on top of my hugeness there is a TON OF SNOW!

As such, I have been having my DH finish up the holiday shopping...grocery shopping...:rotfl2: You should see some of the things he comes home w/ ....

Yesterday I sent him to Michaels to pick up some colored glass bulbs to make those cute little handprint/snowman poem ornaments for my girlfriends ... thought I could snag the handprints while their kids are in and out of my house today ... he came home w/ these gigantic clear glass ornaments...so I am trying to figure out what to do w/ those b/c all my velum is packed away while we remodel or I would do those photo ornaments...ack! Wish I had the energy to just go to the store myself !!!

Happy Holidays to you all! I hope everyone feels good and enjoys their time off w/ family and friends.

I love the name Tessa! Is it short for anything? Oh, to be in the home stretch!

My DH is grocery shopping right now and he must have called like 4 times about what to get. I need to send him with a list--the funny thing is--he does most of the shopping and cooking! He's such a sweetie!

I love that your husband will shop too! They seem to be a rare breed around here. I keep telling my girls to pay attention at Daddy running mommy a bath, putting my socks on for me, doing the shopping, or vaccuuming or brushing their teeth ... I tell them these things are IMPORTANT in a man and they need to make sure that they choose partners that will partner with them and not make them do all the work! Of course, they are 6 and almost 4 so it might be going over their heads but I dont want them to end up like so many of my friends and one of my sisters w/ do-nothin hubbys!!!

We are not quite sure where Tessa came from. The name, I mean:lmao: !!!

We told Annabel she could name the baby ... after we vetoed many many many names that didnt quite fit w/ our family (like Tijuana, jijuana ....) When she came in to her sisters room and said, how about Tessa Brianne? My husband, older daughter and i yelled "great!!! we love it!!! good job!!"

OUr oldest daughter picked the name Annabel so we felt this was only fair...figure some day we will need to get a pet and let Tessa name it ;)

I can see from your ticker you are almost a third of the way there...almost to the fun part where you will feel better and look so cute w/ a little bump!!!

Amen, sister!!! :goodvibes I spent a good many years dating and am glad that I waited for the right man. DH spoils me rotten and I spoil him rotten too. It's wonderful to have someone to care for you so you don't have to worry.
