They keep getting cranky at me because I don't bring my cup full of pee with me. I don't see why I can't just pee in the bathroom there instead of doing it at home, lugging it to work, keeping it cold and lugging it back.
What difference does it make where I pee? It's not like I can't pee on demand these days! :goodvibes

That is crazy! I just pee there.. Why would you want to truck a full load of pee around with you?

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I don't want that think with me all day!

My OB's office is in the hospital so I'm now going to pitstop in a restroom by the elevator, fill up my cup and go up.

They'll never know! Muahahahah!

I can't believe I'm actually about to discuss pee in a cup but . . . my doc told me that I need to bring it with me because the best sample is the first urine of the morning. I've never heard of having to keep it cold though. :confused3 So maybe that's why they insist you bring it?

Dh hasn't been to any of my appts yet. My dr (not by choice-none are closer) is an hour from here, and he doesn't get days off during the week. Usually my appts take awhile, just waiting on the dr. There is no need for both of us to miss work.

But for my big ultrasound Tuesday, we'll all be there. The 4 of us will find out together if we'll have a little boy or girl joining us in May. Hopefully, the baby will cooperate!

Oh, and at my dr's office you pee when you get there! I don't understand why they'd make you pee at home!:confused3

Never told me it needed to be first of the day, so doubt it. :confused3
They told me to do it whenever I could and bring it with me and keep it in the fridge in the meantime.
I somehow doubt my coworkers would be cool with this, though! :rotfl:

Like I said, I think it's because they would prefer the first urine of the day. If I do recall, home pregnancy tests also recommend using the first urine.

Are you guys able to get ultrasounds at your doc's office? I have to go to a hospital an hour away for that. And I am only allowed to have one person go in with me, which works fine for us since DH is the only family member I have in this province.

Well he's here! We did not make it to my induction date, he came a day earlier! I woke up at 12:30am early Wednesday morning with a really painful contraction and went back to sleep. 30 minutes later I had another one so I started a bath to help with the pain. I was so worried if I went into labor the house wouldn't be vacuumed so while I was in the tub my husband vacuumed the house, took out the trash, and cleaned the litter boxes! :rotfl: My contractions started coming so fast, and I thought we should go to the hospital just in case. We got there around 3 am and I was in so much pain they had to get me a wheelchair. When they checked me I was already 5 cm :scared1: This happened in less than 3 hrs, I thought first time moms it was supposed to take awhile!! I told them I wanted the drugs ASAP, but they still had to call my doctor and get info from me. About an hour later they were able to give me medication and I was 8 cm then. I felt great after the epidural!! I pushed for about 20 mins and James was born at 9:07 am after less than 9 hours of labor. He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz, and was 21 inches long. It was by far the best day of my life, and he is a great baby. He is not fussy and is an amazing eater and sleeper!! We are so happy to have him home for Christmas, we are having so much fun with him.

Sorry, I don't know how to make the pictures smaller!!

I hope everyone has a great holiday season and great deliveries!!''

I started my post, got distracted, then finished, so I read yours after mine. My drs. have never mentioned 1st morning urine in any of my 3 pregnancies. I know you use it for pregnancy tests, but never has it been a concern at my dr's office.

The ultrasounds are done downstairs from my dr's office, so I just run upstairs when I'm finished. They've never mentioned a limit on people, so I hope taking the kids won't be a problem. They want to know so bad! All they do if fight over what the baby is. Ds11 is threatening to move out if he has another sister!

Welcome to the world, baby James! :woohoo:

I sure hope my labor's short like that.

Congrats, Baby James is adorable!!!! Much happiness with your little Christmas package.

Congratulations, Tcmcguire, on Baby James!!! I'm glad he came into the world without a hitch. DH was reading over my shoulder as I was going through your post. He said that's one of the cutest babies he's ever seen.

Ok. So I've been disturbingly intrigued by this pee discussion so I did a quick search to find out why my doc wants the first urine of the day for urinalysis. This is what I found. From http://www.tpub.com/content/medical/14295/css/14295_297.htm:

The first morning urine specimen is the first urine voided upon rising. It is the best sample for routine urinalysis, because it is usually concentrated and more likely to reveal abnormalities.

Basically, the same thing was said on a few other sites. So, I've just learned more about pee than I ever imagined I would like to know. :) It is intersting though, especially the article I came across called "The Art of Urinalysis." :)

My office has two ultrasound machines.. So she just does then there. When I had my first, and my 20 week... and if I make it to 37 weeks... the sonographer does them. THe ones at each appt. my Dr. does.

So when your doc does the ultrasound, do they have to send the images to a radiologist to interpret?
