Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

I had a great Christmas, but no one brought anything for the baby except Santa, who filled up her stocking. Of course, most of the family didn't know what I'm having until today.

Wow...how did you get away with hiding it for so long? I notice you're only a couple of weeks behind me and it's very obvious that I'm pregnant. That old bump is just a-growing! Sounds like a nice Christmas surprise for your family though. :goodvibes

Baby Smith got just a few little things. Some baby soap, a baby lunch box, a stuffed dog, and a cute story book set.

They all knew I was pregnant-too sick to hide it! They just didn't know I was having a girl-just found out on Dec. 23. I have the baby bump, even though everyone says I'm smaller everywhere but my stomach (and ****s:rotfl: )

This was the first holiday I was obvious (my belly popped sometime last week, while I was gone.. DH was floored when I walked in the door!)...

I technically got stuff for the baby. My parents bought a storybook that came with a matching teddy bear from Borders. I got lots of maternity clothes, too!

Nothing for the baby , but my parents gave me money towards maternity clothes!!! I was thrilled.

Hey everyone!!

Just wanted to pop in for an update! We had our beautiful little girl!! Friday December 19th I went in for a regular OB appointment and was sent for blood work for extremely elevated blood pressure and protein in my urine. That evening my blood pressure went up to 180/120 while I was at home, my vision was blurry, I was shaky, and had a terrible headache. I called my OB who told me to head on up the birthing center. They kept me overnight for some tests and at 8am diagnosed me with pre-eclampsia and started me on magnesium sulfate. They also decided since I was at 38 weeks it would be best to go ahead and deliver, so they gave me cervadil, then broke my water, then started my pitocin. My labor officially started at 8am. After 12 hours of labor my OB checked me and I was only at 6cm - and my blood pressure was starting to go up even with the mag sulfate. She said if I didn't show a good bit of progress within the next hour we would need to talk about a C-section. At 9:30 I was still 6cm - maybe 7cm so they decided a C-section was necessary.

Ava Brooklyn was born at 10:27pm on December 20th. She was 19.75" long and weighed 6lbs 13oz. She was absolutely perfect!

Congratulations on baby Ava! She is absolutely beautiful! I hope your recovery will be a smooth one.

Oh wow, Ava is gorgeous!!! Speedy recovery mom!

I hope everyone had a good holiday! We got a couple baby gifts even though DH specifically asked for one more selfish holiday. :teeth: His sister got the baby a Browns fleece onesie that should fit perfect for next winter ;). The best gift was from great grandpa who gave us his old baby bowl. It was hand made and well-loved. It'll be a display piece and a lovely thought.

I've had the flu all week and it was extra tough in the evening with my morning sickness. Luckily I ate early with my parents on Christmas day, so I was able to enjoy some holiday foods. I called my Dr yesterday to ask what (if any) meds I can take with the flu during the first trimester and of course, no one was in. I have the worst luck with that.

My next Dr appointment is Monday and this time I'm bringing a list of questions, so she doesn't run outta there.

Congrats on Ava! She is beautiful! How wonderful, you were home for the holidays with her.

We did get a couple baby gifts this Christmas from our immediate families (the only ones who knew before we announced it to everyone else at Christmas). This little lamb bath set I've been dying for, a baby monitor, baby name book, and my mom got me a maternity shirt. I'm not wearing maternity yet, but she's so excited!

I'm over 12 weeks now, we had another appointment yesterday, and were able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler! We've now annouced the pregnancy to our entire families, and I put it on Facebook last night. I'm really feeling like it's official!

Congratulations!

I did all of that AFTER dd9 was born. I ended up in ICU with severe seizures while my mil was home with a newborn and a 2 yr old. I'm so glad they took care of yours, and everyone is healthy. I'm being watched closely this time, but so far my blood pressure is great. I still think mine was caused by a bad epidural. My FORMER dr. was so worried about a lawsuit that he wouldn't tell me anything-I like my new dr. so much better.

Ava is so precious!!! I hope you are settling into a nice routine and are able to enjoy her over the holidays; what a great gift!!

We were surprised to receive some presents for the baby! An adorable pacifier ornament, wipes, diapers, bath toys, washclothes, binkie clip, those cute little socks that look like she has on mary janes...

My MIL surprised me w/ the Pandora bracelet I had asked DH for when the baby is born! Then DH got a charm from each girl - including the carriage I had my eye on - from baby Tessa! I am so excited!

DH godparents even got me me gift cards to buy new clothes for ME after the baby is born! I am rather excited about that!!

We enjoyed our first holiday at home w/ just our kids. It was absolutely FANTASTIC and I dont know if I ever want to travel at Christmas again!!

Hey Kellie!

How are you feeling? I've been having BH's for weeks and cramping, but now it's getting worse. Wondered what you were feeling since our due dates are so close. I am so ready to get this little guy out of here!;)
