Hey everyone!!
Just wanted to pop in for an update! We had our beautiful little girl!! Friday December 19th I went in for a regular OB appointment and was sent for blood work for extremely elevated blood pressure and protein in my urine. That evening my blood pressure went up to 180/120 while I was at home, my vision was blurry, I was shaky, and had a terrible headache. I called my OB who told me to head on up the birthing center. They kept me overnight for some tests and at 8am diagnosed me with pre-eclampsia and started me on magnesium sulfate. They also decided since I was at 38 weeks it would be best to go ahead and deliver, so they gave me cervadil, then broke my water, then started my pitocin. My labor officially started at 8am. After 12 hours of labor my OB checked me and I was only at 6cm - and my blood pressure was starting to go up even with the mag sulfate. She said if I didn't show a good bit of progress within the next hour we would need to talk about a C-section. At 9:30 I was still 6cm - maybe 7cm so they decided a C-section was necessary.
Ava Brooklyn was born at 10:27pm on December 20th. She was 19.75" long and weighed 6lbs 13oz. She was absolutely perfect!
We were able to go home on December 23rd. My recovery is going good, but slow as expected. Ava is doing great!
