Newbie rent/transfer points questions

Is there any way to rent/transfer just 5 additional points or would I probably have to get more? Does anyone actually do such low numbers?

Scenario:

We will have 110 pts, but would need 115 to stay 5 nights, Sun-Thurs, in a PVB standard view room during magic season. The best would be to get just 5 points for Sept. 2015 UY to transfer to our account.

If we have to purchase more than 5 points, can those extra points then be banked into the 2016 UY? So they wouldn't expire until 7/31/2017, right?

You can buy up to 24 one-time-use points directly. Have you already exhausted those?

Since members are limited to a single transfer (either in or out, not both) per year, most members wouldn't be willing to transfer such a small number of points and use up their single transfer for the year.

But, yes, transferred points can be banked.

This sounds much better. I was wondering what happens when you would fall just shy. Are these one time use points available for purchase each UY or over the whole life of the contract? How much do they generally cost?

They are $15 per point. Up to 24 pts per UY. They only sell the points when you book. So you can't pre-purchase them. And you can only book at the 7m mark. You'd book Sun to Wed at 7m online. Then call Ms to add on Thursday and buy the 5 points.

If you're booking at 11m, your only option is to borrow or book one less night and hope it's available at 7m.

You might also get lucky and find someone who has just a few points that they are "stuck" with and can't use before they expire.
