Newbie relative thinking about WDW or Cruise or Both? Help!

A niece has just asked if she should do a Disney Cruise or WDW for herself, DH, and DS 11 and DS5. I suggested a land and sea combo (three day cruise with WDW either before or after. I have heard nothing but rave reviews for the cruises but, do you think I advised her right to combine them or would you do only one for a first Disney experience. Opinions please?

If they have the time and the funds, why not do both? Three days isn't a long cruise, and I assume that they'd be leaving from Port Canaveral? If they were cruising out of Miami, then the drive to WDW would be much longer, or they'd have to fly from Miami to Orlando which would be an additional expense. In that case, I'd pick one or the other. If they choose to just do the cruise, perhaps they can swing a five day cruise..

I think that is a wonderful suggestion. We found the Disney Cruises were a great mix of Disney and Non Disney. It's less "in your face" than in the parks and there is so much to do on board. There is still plenty of Disney Characters around, movies, kids club ect. It is also more relaxing generally than the parks. Especially if you only have a few days at the parks and therefore, want to see as much as possible.
