Newbie question re booking/stripped contract

If one were to buy a totally stripped contract, no points coming until 2019, one could still book a trip in 2018 by borrowing 2019 points, right? If so, how does that work with booking the 11 month window and UY?

For example, suppose it's a March UY and I want to go in Nov 2018. If I were to borrow points from 2019, they couldn't get used for a 2018 vacation until at after March 2018, right?

But could I still make the reservation at 11 months in advance (Dec. 2017)?

That is correct. If you want to vacation in November of 2018, but have to use 2019 points (with a march UY) you could make your reservation in December of 2017, at which time you could borrow 2019 points.

If you can make the reservation (that is, you are in the booking window), you can always borrow points from the UY that is AFTER the reservation as long as you have points to borrow
