Newbie question: how many points for CA cruise?

We are about to purchase DVC and we'd love to do the CA cruise in 08 (or 09 if it's too late). Can someone tell me about what we are looking at for the required points and can we add to our points one time if we don't purchase enough? We're so new we are just figuring things out. Thanks!

I don't have the info handy, but I asked this when I met with my guide and it was a LOT--especially for an outside cabin with verandah. I don't believe you can combine points with cash. You could bank and borrow and aggregate more points to be able to pay for the cruise in '09.
