We were originally thinking of going to DLR June 25th or 26th 2012 and go to DLR for 3 days and avoid the weekend. Then as I was reading about SoCal AP Blockout days (and how the crowds can be crazy on non blockout days) I see that the 25-28 are not blockout days and I know carsland is opening. Blockout for the summer starts on the 29th which is Friday the start of the weekend. Would it still be better to go on the blocked out weekend? I also thought we could do something else on the weekend and go to DLR on July 2-4th. I am concerned how busy it could be on the 4th. Anyway, what would be the better of the times to go? Any help is appreciated.
I went on the 4th of July one year. A guy died, and it took him a half hour to fall over, that is how crowded it was.
I watched the fireworks from RoA after Fantasmic!. I kid you not, it took me 2 hours to get out of the park, to my car in M&F parking garage, and then out of the garage.
It is just going to be bad.... The SoCal APs can get in right up until the 28th, as you point out.... They will be swarming the park for their "last chance".
Then you get into the weekend, and with the 4th on a Wednesday, that weekend will be the start of the vaca for people taking M, T and making it a 5 day weekend.
If you could back it up a week, to the 20th, 21st, when the SoCals are blocked, that is your best bet.
If not.... Rope drop and commando for a couple hours before settling into a more relaxed "it is too crowded to stress about how much we get done" mode.
