Newbie needing advice on number of points

Thank you all for your great advice! We are going to buy 150 direct at VGF to get the blue card and go from there! Maybe do every other year and then add on if we want to go more! We are very excited!

I’m not sure if you talked to a guide yet but there is currently an incentive of $1,250 off if you buy at least 175 points at VGF and pay with the Disney Visa. That is $50 per point off the extra 25 points. That pushed us on up to 175 a couple weeks ago.

Something else you may want to consider if interested in using a Disney Visa to buy in...

We wanted to do that upon buying in direct, oddly enough also the minimum at VGF. (Excellent choice as it's The Best no matter what anyone else says.)

Ran up against not having a high enough credit limit to put the entire purchase price on the card.

We called Chase who said because of our good payment record and credit rating, they could bump our limit up a few thousand so that we could put half on the card, pay that off, rinse repeat.

IF Disney would agree to do it like that was the question.

Took some finagling by our Guide to get Disney's go-ahead as he said he didn't recall anyone else asking that and wasn't sure Disney would allow it, but he ultimately arranged it. (Yeah, like they wouldn't take our money about any way they could get it. )

We shuffled some bucks around and had it PIFed in a little over 3-1/2 months, no interest charged.

Gotta get them Disney Reward Dollars any ol' way you can.

In another thread yesterday, someone said they were able to get a longer interest free payment with their Chase Sapphire.

I didn’t have a high enough limit either but also had a Chase Sapphire card and got them to shift some of the credit on the Sapphire to the Disney Visa. Thus lowering the Sapphire credit limit and increasing the Disney.
