Hi! Have you set a deadline for joining the FE? Sorry about being non committal at this time. I am still trying to figure out if I am brave enough to drive or if we will try the train. So depending on how we get there will determine if we will be able to cart extra things along.

If I was not flying back from Orlando from another crusie... I would probabaly be taking the the train myself, less pressure having someone else drive

I am also ambivilent about FE this time. My son is at the age where he is not longer interested. Most likely we will not partake this time.

IZZY ...Dining times are around 5:30 and then again around 8:15. You'd have to ask your mom which one your family signed up for (early or late)

Thanks so much for the summary of fe participants. We are definately in! I am Mom (Tina) and also cruising is DD (16), DS (12) and DD (10) (at the time of the cruise). I have cruised twice before (once as a single with friends, once on my honeymoon) but this is the first cruise for the kids, so I am so excited to see them experience this.

Not to set a sad tone (because everything about preparing for this trip makes me happy), but I feel like I have to put it out there some time - and perhaps now is better rather than on the trip when I meet some of you in person...I am a recent widow. It has been a little more than 6 months since my DH died suddently at 47. I find that I am starting to meet people that don't know my "story" - and it is sometimes uncomfortable for others (I am not uncomfortable - it just is my life). Don't be afraid to meet us, ask questions, share your family, etc. We want to meet others and have fun.

This is a very special "Father's Day" cruise for us. In March, after pitching the idea of a surprise cruise for the kids, my husband said excitedly, "book it". So I was off to the races in my planning, pricing and researching (that's half the fun of vacation, isnt' it?!). He will be "with us" (in ways that don't require me to buy another ticket!) - and we will be celebrating our many blessings.

We look forward to meeting you all and having a very special trip.

I update your information, and I'm so sorry for your loss, but what a great trip for your family. It looks like your son and daughter sandwich my daughter in ages (she's 11...will be almost 12 at cruise time) so maybe they'll all meet up in the clubs and hang out.

Hi Tina,
Our kids are in your age range too, DS will be 13 when we sail, and two DDs and a DS will be 15. They are not too good with English in writing i.e. online but speak English perfectly and will be happy to have DIS family kids to hang with!
I'm glad that you put your family's story "out there". I agree that it is better for folks to know who you are, and this simply is who you are. Wonderful that he knew about the cruise; he'll be with you (I do believe that)...

Yay for you, for getting this FE off and running! We are in (as you figured - good job). My 2 cents is to consider making it smaller groups (??15or so cabins/families) with more than one group if needed. What do others think? No matter what the organization is, though, we are in

I like the idea of hometown gifts! However, traveling with kids/teens I know they are hoping for those baggies with candy and what-nots, so my personal desire is for moderate sized groups of 15-20 cabins thus giving us flexibility in what we choose to give - ok just one family gift, also ok kids gifts, etc...
Looking forward to hearing more opinions!

I like the cutoff date of June 1.........there are always late arrivals.......

FE = Fish Extenders........you get a shoe bag-like holder and you hang it from your fish outside your stateroom. After we all sign up and then give out our stateroom numbers, we surprise each other with little gifts (sometimes from our hometowns).....I've been doing it for years and it is always a highlight of the cruise.

I especially enjoyed doing it last summer when we sailed the Dream so we could acclimate to the new ship floor plans!!
