New Yorker Needs Disneyland Frequent Visits Help

For a once in a lifetime visit to DL, I recommend:

Dining at Blue Bayou and Wine Country Trattoria
Reserved Seating for Fantasmic!
Aladdin Stage Show

Make sure you book the villa as soon as you can. We don't have many DVC rooms at Grand Californian and they fill up!

You and your mom will have a magical time.

I completely agree with your choice of the Grand Californian. It has a zero entry pool that will be easy for your mom to access.

Disneyland is really very small, and very flat, so if you can't talk her into an ECV then you should manage the wheelchair very easily.

For lunches, I would look into booking smaller, less expensive places, like the Carnation Cafe and Cafe Orleans. They are not very expensive and you won't have to worry about seating your mom, then leaving her alone while you wait in line to get your food.

I would recommend the Fantasmic Dessert seating, so your mom can enjoy the show close up and you wont have to wait a long time.

Aladdin is a must see, and she will enjoy the Mr. Lincoln thing.

Best wishes!

Sorry to hear about your mom.

You really want to reconsider the wheelchair unless you are seriously buff. In DL the only hill is from pirates around Splash Mountain. Not a big deal to walk. Murder in a wheelchair.

Check that, there's also a hill from Matterhorn to Nemo.

However, in DCA, everything past Grizzly River Rapids is hilly. Again, not a big deal walking but a killer in a wheelchair. If you're pushing, you'll be toast by noon. There's even a small hill in Downtown Disney as you go towards Disneyland Hotel.

The good thing is that if you stay at Grand Californian everything's close.

Good luck. Have a blast!

Just wanted to check in and see how your Mom is doing. Here's hoping she had a nice Mother's Day!

By the way I know we have mentioned the BIG shows already but here are a few "little" moments at DL to look out for

Alice in Wonderland & Mad Hatter leading kids in musical chairs in Coke corner
Billy Hill & the Hillbillies show at the Golden Horseshoe
The Daily Flag retreat ceremony where they ask those who have served our country to join them
The Doo Wop group that sings in DCA
The barbershop quartet on Main Street (if you are lucky you might spot them on a bicycle built for 4)
The pirate band that roams NOS
The guy who teaches lassoing and cowboy songs in Frontierland

I'm sure others can chime in with more of the "little" things that make DL special too!
