Hi everyone!

Hubby and I are taking our dream trip to WDW from Sept. 25th to Oct. 2nd. We are staying in NYC for two nights before and three nights after (we love NYC!).

We got a good deal on those tix and now just need to book NYC<-->MCO. Is $250 round trip a good price? It's the cheapest i can find. Should I wait to book 60 days out?
Is there an airline I should be looking at?

I am clueless when it comes to US domestic flights so I would appreciate any advice! I do know I should check if a checked bag is included..

Thanks in advance!

I wish I could get $250 round trip to MCO, and I live near lower demand airports than the NYC area. I think that's a great price.

Just be aware that depending on the airline, $250 rd trip does not include luggage fees. Since you are traveling from aboard, I would guess you have at least one checked in luggage per person. That would add $25 per luggage per flight, $50 extra rd trip per person. Unless, you have that airline's credit card that let's you have a free checked bag.

In this case, try to see if you can fly on JetBlue even if it is slightly more expensive. They let you check in one bag per person free, so it may save you money at the end. And JetBlue is a great airline!

Good luck!

Thank you! Jet blue has nice times.
Is there a list of airlines that don't cover one checked bag? That's all we'll take pp.

Should I wait for a sale or this is a great price and I should book it? :/

General rule of thumb in US is no airline fares include a checked bag. A couple notable exceptions that come to mind are JetBlue and SouthWest.

If you do a quick google search I am sure someone like Travelocity has a break down of fees by airline. Some of the low cost ones charge for a carryon and for selecting a seat in advance.

It appears you are looking at JetBlue for $250 round trip per person from NYC to MCO. If that is the case, jump on it. JetBlue includes one free checked bag per passenger.

I am looking at jet blue. Southwest costs more with a stoppver.
The problem is the good jet blue times are more expensive. The $250 round trip per person ticket has us arriving in MCO at 23:45. We are so excited for this trip and would be so sad to not get at least some playtime and dinner at DTD.

I'm just unfamiliar with US domestic flights and sales. If you guys say it is a good price then I trust you. By when should I book?

Thank you for your help thus far!

JetBlue usually has sales on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I would check your desired flights next Tuesday and see if the prices have changed.

There is also a link to the seat map next to each flight. Check to see how many seats have already sold on your flights and you'll get a better idea of when to book.

I just checked your dates on JetBlue's website. September 25-26 are two days in the NY City area where a lot of the schools are closed. People with children might have booked a long weekend in Orlando for those dates. That's probably why the flights going down are so expensive. They may or may not go on sale depending on how many seats are already sold.

It's Tuesday and nothing got cheaper for the trip there. It's gotten worse. *bangs head*
I cannot believe that the super great Disney deal comes with super expensive flights.
Oh well. I better book now and just suck it up.
The part down is going to be about 200 each alone because I refuse to land at 23:45 on our first day! Landing at 18:50 will be sad enough. :(

Yeah, you should have jumped on that $250 round trip fare, despite the late arrival time. These days that is an excellent price from anywhere in the northeast US to Orlando.

By the way, that "Tuesday is the best day to buy" advice is, more often than not, no longer valid.

Funny enough. Not all might be lost. Prices go down when I check on European flight search sites (even with conversion from € to $). What a crazy game flight searches are nowadays!
