Hello, this site has been so helpful for many of our trips to Disney and now to NYC! Thanks for sharing your information!

I am wondering if we can take public transportation from LaGuardia to our hotel in Long Island City and get the 7 day pass to get us on it?? We are planning to use the subway for our mode of transportation for the 6 days we are there.....THANKS!!!!

call or write Mta or google. I think 7 day pass is not offered.

I was a flight attendant in NY and often used public transit to LGA back in early 2000s. It was not easy! I just checked to see if things had changed since then and they haven't. So here's the deal: there is no subway or other train service directly to LGA, only Metro busses go to LGA. So you would have to take the bus to the subway station and then transfer onto the subway. Or take a cab to the subway station (had to do that a few times because bus never came after a long wait). None of this is easy with bags in tow because there are lots of stairs to navigate in the subway. So no, I would not advise using public transit from LGA unless you absolutely cannot afford to do otherwise (like me back when I was a poor FA, lol).

There is now a dedicated bus...Q70...to the Roosevelt/74th subway station from La Guardia. From there you can take the number 7 (green) subway to Long Island City Station.

Not sure where you are going in relation to LIC Station, but the trip planner on the New York Metro website is pretty easy to use.

From LGA, I would just take a cab. The subway will be fine for the rest of your trip, but LGA is in a rather inconvenient location.

a 7-Day unlimited MetroCard is $30 plus $1 for the card.

You can absolutely take the bus and then the subway from LGA to your LIC hotel.

For more subway or bus directions, you can go to Hop Stop NYC. VERY helpful!!!!!!!!

Hopstop is your friend. I use it all the time and has yet to let me down

I take the bus/subway to/from LGA/Midtown every week. It's actually very easy and MUCH cheaper than a cab. ($2.50/pp including the transfer if you use the metrocard). The Q70 bus is (thankfully now) express. It goes directly to the subway station in about 10 minutes.

Thank you all!! Love Hop Stop.....have it downloaded for our trip. Thanks!!!

the 7 is purple, G 4/5/6 are green. :confused3

where in LIC are you trying to go and how much luggage will you have? in LIC and astoria there are many stations above ground and there are no ramps. you may be dragging luggage down a few flights of stairs. i would not rule out a taxi/car service since you are not going into manhatten.
