New Years & London

Hello Everyone!

I don't mean to intrude your forum, but I'm from the USA and will be traveling to London over New Years. I will participating in the New Years Day Parade with my High School Marching band (I'm in color guard [flags]).

What should I know about London and/or the parade??

I imagine as you are with a group it will be pretty planned out for you on what you do, we were in London last New Year's Eve and is was very, very busy, we missed the parade on New Year's Day but I believe it is very popular. Hope you enjoy yourself, wrap up warm its been a bit cold but is now turning wet!

Dbf and I saw the parade last year- It was really good! It was about an hour long. Lots of people turned out to watch it and it was very festive!

London is quite expensive for people from the US but there are cheap places to eat- You can get fairly big pizza slices and falafel in Leicester square for about $3-6. (Last time I went there pizza slices were 1 pound from pizza hut). Museums are generally free and lots of sightseeing is free (unless you want to actually go in the Tower of London etc which is expensive! Bring your student cards if you have them for reduced entrance) Plus there are the fabulous sales in Oxford Street over New Year!

Good for you! It will be a grand time, though the parade moves slow. Yes, it is expensive right now, but heck, it's London, and it's Christmas time. Enjoy.

Well have just got home for the Parade, I now need to go to bed. It was really good. About 1/3 parade was made up from people of the USA. I hope that you enjoyed yourself Minnie328 (sorry about the rain). By the way witch band where you with?
