New Year's Eve menu

Nothing much, we don't make a big to-do, go out or have folks over. I do have wings in the freezer, so I may make those. My husband will be traveling home from a short trip sometime on Saturday so that might be a easy meal. I've got plenty of chips & pretzels, snacks and whatnot. We ate soooo much over the Christmas holiday I'm having a hard time imagining a NYE menu!

My sons will be over with their families. We will order our usual for NYE - Chinese Food.

They have small children and will leave early. No staying up until Midnight.

Nothing special, there is still quite a bit of food in the house so we'll make do.

We are having a "poor man's" shellfish cioppino with some frozen deshelled mussels, some frozen deshelled clams, some jarred anchovies and Asian baby salted shrimp, some veg, and using Aldi's wine. We're deciding if we'll go even more "poor man" and do it with Pillsbury crescent rolls (had bought these for my brother's visit and didn't use them) or make polenta/pasta.

Oh thanks for the reminder I have Pillsbury rolls in the fridge too that I can make tonight with my junk food.

It's up in the air. DD and SIL have covid and they live with us, so that complicates things. She tested + on Monday, him on Wednesday, so technically we shouldn't be going out anywhere. Our plans were to go to our friends' home here in town for dinner and game night, but probably not staying until midnight, but those plans are now on hold. If DH and I are not symptomatic and test negative, we'll still go over to our friends' home; if not, we'll stay home. I have made no food plans for either NYE or NY day, but the 6yo has been campaigning for pizza all week, so that'll be on the menu sometime over the weekend.

I make a sirloin chili in the large crockpot for New Year’s Eve. Never know who’s gonna stop by. All the toppings. I’ll also put together a large green salad with lots of fresh veggies, pick up some homemade bread at the Farmer’s Market tomorrow AM and call it done. Oh and lots of champagne. 🥂

hmmm, now that sounds good!

We have lots of snacks on NYE. Chips and dip/salsa, salami, cheese and crackers, jalapeño poppers....usually more frozen stuff from Costco but I haven't been and don't plan on it today or tomorrow morning so I'll have to think of other stuff. Maybe I'll get some croissant sandwiches from the grocery store, they have platters made up on holidays and they are really good.

I wish I had a plan. I had emergency surgery Nov. 22nd, then had two surgeries 3 weeks later due to complications from the surgery. I still have a long way to go to be 100%. At this point, DH & I are just hoping I'll feel up to a champagne toast at midnight.

We also had to put off our Christmas with DS until Jan 2nd. My guess is we'll have takeout/delivery the 31st, 1st & 2nd, but I have no idea what that will be. I don't currently have much of an appetite & my guys aren't very good at making food suggestions. I'll update, if we think of anything.

DH, our friend and myself are going to Hooters for Wings and Beer - that's our NYE dinner.
We used to do this every year until COVID, so this is our first year back to doing this again. I'm very excited - gotta love wings and beer - LOL!!

Tomorrow night it's just my DH and I - the first time we've celebrated NYE alone in well over 25 years. I gotta admit - it's kinda weird. My neighbor normally has a party, but they are going to a wedding tomorrow night, so no party. So, DH and I will just watch some movies and eat some snacks. It's definitely going to be a very calm night.
