NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

Ok, it's Sunday night and I just got done packing for our trip this week. DH, bless him, took the boys to see the new Harry Potter movie so I could pack in peace. We got our travelers checks on Saturday, printed out all the "stuff" I needed and put it into my three ringed binder, checked PS's, confirmed car, airport hotel and WL ressies, printed out my room request to fax early tomorrow AM, and did tons of other things because we have a very hectic week filled with parent visitation day at both of my sons' schools, teacher conferences, three doctor appointments and two contractor appts (we're redoing our kitchen).

I decided to sit down at the computer with a glass of wine and read as much as I could about the wonderful Wildnerness Lodge. Thanks to all who have helped us with valuable tips and suggestions to make this trip alot easier to plan than I thought it would be.

Well, Im stumped! Ive been looking at some options for our stay in August. I want to stick with a split stay between AKL and WL. Heres my problem, Im looking 5 nights, 2 adults (Sister and I) and 3 kids (All Girls 9, 9 and 4). Obviously Sister and I want own beds as far apart as possible. The Twins will sleep together but I would prefer a bunk option. Youngest Niece can sleep with Twins or Aunty but is not used to sleeping alone.

So as far as WL Solution goes, what would you recommend?
Villas 2 bedrooms? WL Deluxe (Jr Suite)? 2 rooms?

All replies appreciated.

Hi

I'm back from my first, but not last, stay at WL. We loved the place. It is so beautiful.

The Christmas decorations are up. Went to bed one night wondering what happened to the furniture in the lobby and woke up to about 80% of the decorations done. It was beautiful and I was so glad that we were able to see the lodge before and after.

We had a standard view room. I faxed in a room request 4 days prior asking for 6th floor north wing with queen and bunks and that is exactly what we got. We were in room 6020 and we could see the MK fireworks from our balcony which was very nice. The RF elevator was near by and you never wait longer than 5 seconds for an elevator. The woman who took care of our room all week, Evelyn, was AWESOME. Can't say enough about her. Lot's of towel animals - couldn't wait to get back to the room at night to see what was there. One night we came in to the TV on and an animal wearing my dauthers minnie mouse ears sitting on my bed with the remote. It was so funny. We couldn't figure out what the animal was susposed to be, maybe and ardvark type thing. It was cute whatever it was.

The bus and boats were great. The only bus we seemed to wait for was for Epcot but even that wasn't too long. We ended up taking the bus to TTC and the monarail more often - I think that's faster. Oh - we also got to ride in the front of the monarail - the kids loved that.

Hot tub in the early morning is a wonderful thing - now that's the life!

Kacoggie - how far was it to the pool? boat docks?

Does anyone know how much it costs to valet park at the WL?

Thanks

We are heading to the WL next week & I need to request a room on the 4th floor with easy access to the Roaring Forks restuarant, but also with an inside view of the lobby. We don't want to be down a hallway with just other doors across from us. We want to be able to see the Christmas tree in the lobby when we come out of our door. Can anyone help with what wing to ask for or even room numbers? :D

askmickey -

can you tell me if there are any std rooms that face the lobby in which you can see FW from the balcony?? Thank you for all of your help.

NJPhyl - not far at all from the boat dock or the pool. We were at that end of the building. You could take the stairway - just a few doors down and be about 1 minute from the pool and 2 minutes from the boat dock. We were about halfway between the elevator for roaring forks and the stairs.

Another thing - we ate at Artist Point and it was wonderful. A little pricy but if your looking for a nice dinner this is the place. My husband and I both got the Beef Tenderloin and it melted in your mouth. The kids got, hmm can't remember.... But they liked whatever it was - something on the kids menu. Their dessert was a mickey white chocolate candy bar that was in puzzle pieces that they had to put together then paint with edible paints. They had fun with that.

If you want to see the XMas decorations when you walk out your room, yet have access to RF, then lobby view (over check-in desk) is for you. That way, you would use one of the three elevators that exit into the lobby, walk staight across (like over the bridge where the babbling brook begins) and make a right. Follow that short hall (it tilts "downward")past AP to the end and make a left. RF is right there on your left. Good luck and happy vacation:D !!

Hi,
We've got a courtyard room reservation, but we'd like the room to be on the first floor with a patio...not a balcony on a higher floor...and we'd like the room to have bunkbeds.
Does this room even exist and if so, do you have a specific room number to request?
We know it's not guaranteed, and that's okay...we'd just like to increase our chances of getting what would make our DD ecstatic.
Thanks a bunch,
Lin:wave:

When are going? I will be back by 12-7 and let you know what I find out, unless you are going before that.

Mermaid,
That would be fantastic...I look forward to reading your reply in December.
Thanks,
Lin:wave:

Hi All...
There are a few standard rooms that overlook the lobby , however you can not see Fort Wilderness from the Wilderness Lodge...
Standard rooms are fourth floor and higher, woods view and courtyard views are first floor and higher...please keep in mind that when you enter the Wilderness Lodge you are on the second floor.......

Hi askmickey,
When I say I want a first floor patio room (not balcony) with bunk beds (courtyard) do I really mean SECOND floor...are the first floor courtyard rooms sublevel (underground) and without patios?
Thanks,
Lindy:wave:
