DanDave,

Woo hoo!:Pinkbounc Today's the day!

Have a magical "sister" time!

I can't wait to hear how you like Wilderness Lodge. And I'll be waiting to hear how your I-75/Florida Turnpike adventures go!

Kaycee

Have a wonderful time at the "World", filled with "Magic Moments", happy times, and good health....

Well, one thing has been decided- her boys definitely would love to go to the wilderness lodge! The dates are 9/13-9/19. On 8/11 I found out my friend's cancer was terminal- I have been on a quest to fulfill a wish to get her family go Disney. I've gotten most the air travel donated through friends and the Disney Compassion program will provide 3 days worth of tickets. We are receiving donations from family and friends and I'll have a good idea of a budget in the next two weeks, but there is no compromising thes 5 & 8 year old boys love the pictures of the WL. I saw a special for AKL today but I just can't settle, they've had too many disappointments. The cheapest rate I can find is $194- is this a good rate? Should I wait a couple of weeks and see if they run a special? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Tara - wish I knew how to pick a cute Disney character to put under my name- I'd probably be "Flower" from Bambi- my parents always called me "Stinker!" thanks!!

I'm sure you can do better than that!! Look for Mary's post (or webste) under "Resorts" Board to get some codes, and use those (whatever codes you find) when you call CRO. If I get any more info, I will post it for you....I'll say a prayer for your your friend's family:rolleyes: ....

Try www.mousesavers.com to check for current discounts and such. Also, people rave about the travel agency Dreams Unlimited, I believe is their name. Maybe someone on the resorts main board can give you a contact. I'm sure they'd be able to find you the best deal at WL. I'm sure you'll get a great rate & the boys will love the WL. You're such a wonderful person for making this happen for your friends family.

WOW!!!! :jester:

This is a VERY long FAQ!!!!!. I have some questions:

1. What time is check-in and check-out?
2. How are the Concierge (7t floor) rooms different from Standard rooms?
3. What is the food selection like in Concierge?
4. Do PS' have to be made far in advance for WL restaurants?
5. Who is Ranger 'Stan'?
6. Do you have to book the 'Flag Family' In advance or do you request to be it upon arrival at WL?
7. Why is WL MUCH cheaper than the other deluxe resorts?
8. KIMMAR067: What is a WL VET?

THANK YOU!!!!!

Just back from WL late this afternoon with dd. We had a fantastic stay!! Our room overlooked the otter pond, didn't see any, but they sure make funky sounds at night, kinda like dogbird sounds:) If I could reach out and move some tree branches (about 100 feet away) we could have seen the castle but we watched the monorail...dd just liked the "pool"...pond;0

Will write more after I get some unpacking done and rest a bit, I'm exhausted:o

Welcome back, and so glad to hear you had a wonderful time. Of course, this means one thing -- now you can add "WL VET" to your siggie!!;)

Welcome aboard to our FAQ thread...everyone here is SOOOO friendly and helpful. I will try to answer your queries as best as I can:

1) Check-in is 3PM, but if you arrive earlier and your room is available, WL will let you check-in at that time. If not, they will hold your things in storage, while you may visit one of the parks or enjoy the pool. Check-out is 11AM, and they are pretty adamant about this because they have so many guests checking in and out....

2) Concierge rooms are only on the 7th flloor(key access only)...their layout can be the same as a standard room or dlx, depending upon the location)

3) Usually there is a nice assortment of items, especially for breakfast. If you and your family aren't "big breakfast" eaters, it'll do nicely (coffee, tea, fruits, yogurt, pastries, that sort of stuff) and lite snacks and soup throughout the afternoon (not "8-course full meals, but tummy fillers!) It also includes "turn-down" service and customized PS's for restaurants by CM's, if desired.

4) PS's don't have to be made too far in advance. However, I believe you are going during XMas, so I wouldn't wait too long, if I were you (especially for Christmas Dinner!;) ) DO try to visit WCC at least once!!! (ask for Jeffro)

5) "Ranger Stan" is like a permanent fixture to the WL! Some of his duties include tours of the grounds and "Flag Family" ceremonies.

6) The "Flag Family" experience cannot be booked in advance; you may request it upon check-in, to see if a date while you are staying at the WL is available. DO NOT MISS THIS!! It is a once-in-a-lifetime event!!

7) I guess it is less expensive than some of the other deluxe resorts because it is not a "monorail" resort and the rooms are slightly smaller than the typical deluxe (which does not take away from its charm and amenities) room. One of the reasons why it IS considered a deluxe is that the rooms are slightly larger than the mods and it has interior halls. So many guests love it because it is unique in that it has a certain "homeyness" that other deluxes lack (to me, the other deluxes seem too "hoidy-toidy", or "stuffy", but that's just MHO!!)

8) Once guests return from the WL, they can't wait to go back! So, now "armed" with a reasonable amount of knowledge that, no matter how many posts you read, you can't get the true feeling of WL until you EXPERIENCE it, you now become a Wilderness Lodge veteran, or "WL VET"!!!:teeth:

Hope I've helped you......

The cribs are always free. We originally booked a standard room but was upgraded to a courtyard view free of charge on the day of check-in. Our room # was 6043. We had a great view of the falls, pool and lake!

Is there a door at the end of the North Wing on the first floor to the outside?

It feels like 999ghsts has been away forever! :( Has anyone heard from her? I hope her family issues are working themselves out.

By the way, Kimmar, it looks like you are stepping up as the interim WL expert! :smooth: You are really earning your WL Vet title! I hope I can be as helpful to everyone when I get back.

Yes FeeFeeWHite,
There is a door at the end of the north wing on the first floor you can enter from the outside. You need cardkey access between 11pm and 7am. We used that entrance whenever coming from the pool or outside grounds of the WL.

If this would be a quick access to the boat dock, I would definitely request a fist floor room as I spoke about in my email to you. We just love those boat rides. We've stayed in the Cabins at FW many times and love those rides in place of a bus.

So would this be a shortcut to the boat dock?

Thanks new WL vet!

Just booked 2 nites end of Oct for our in-laws to join us at the WL for 159/nite with coutyard view. Booked it thru DU. Good luck.

That door access would be closer to the boat dock than if you were closer to the front of the building but of course it also depends where you room is. The otter pond is further down the hall toward the middle of the north wing (away from the door) but honestly it's maybe a 2 minute walk from there.

The first floor would be a good idea if you want to access this door. But, I must say I was quite impressed with the speed of the elevators that we took all of the time.

Thanks for all the help and support. I know not to ask for the end of the hall now, because we don't want to be too far away from the otter pond.
