LOL:p Chancellor

WE also will be traveling with DS - 1 1/2 and understand completely! :)

Anyone - Do any of the standard view rooms over the lobby have bunks? DS doesn't sleep in crib anymore and would like to keep floor space open! THanks:p

Hi to al.
We have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge twice and I cant even consider staying anywhere else I love it so much.
My question is that during our first trip we had 3 people in the room (me, DH and DD who was 3 at the time). Our last trip this past October we had 5 people (me, DH, DD age 8, DD age 4 and DS age 1) Since the 1 year year old was in a crib we could have 5 people. For our next trip (not yet booked) our little one will most likely be 3 years old and not in a crib, thus we would not be able to book a normal room.
So would a deluxe room do for us? I am assuming that is allowed for 5 people. Are deluxe in the normal part of the hotel or in concierge? Or both? Just wondering what kind of views (courtyard or wood etc) deluxe would have either in the normal part of the hotel or the concierge?
Thanks for any help.
I better start saving my money now since I am going to have to pay for a more expensive room :)

Thanks.

Hi everyone :) We'll be staying at WL for the first time in December. We have a courtyard view. Any suggestions on room requests? I tried looking through this entire thread but it was just making me more confused  It would be great to have one where we could see the water pageant from the room - that way we can watch it from the balcony as our 4 year old sleeps. Oh yeah, do all the courtyard views even have balconies or do we need to request that too?

Thanks for your help.

Janice -

We have a resident expert here, but just wanted to pass on some information to you last time I spoke with CRO. Concierge rooms are not "deluxe" - the deluxe rooms sleep six and the AP rate I was quoted - for right now - was $409. The villa studio was $309 and is supposed to only sleep 4 ( AP also), but then they said there was really no AP rate for deluxe rooms, only villa rooms.

Sounds confusing, maybe? Just thought I'd share this w/ you. I was looking for a bigger room because tho we're only 4, DS seems to triple in volume when in a confined space!! LOL!!

Good luck to you! We are off to our 1st WL trip on Monday!!!! Just faxed my room request and can't wait!

for 99ghts:

First, thanks so much for all your help on this board, I've been a lurker since my Mom and I decided to take DD (2 1/2) to MK for the first time. Since it's a 2 hour trip from her home, we thought we'd leave the DHs home and have some fun.

Here's my Q's:

I have reserved a deluxe room, as my daughter goes to sleep at 7:30 pm and My mom and I will need a place to hang out, other than the bathroom all night! My question is room location - I will be 8 months pregnant and have a toddler with me. Where the best deluxe room for me? What view? Any special requests I should make?

For the rest of the board: I am only going to be there 2 days and we will definitely need to come back to the room for a nap (mom and toddler) any thoughts on an itinerary? Obviously MK but restaurants that a toddler would appreciate (read: she can run around a little while waiting for food), any recommended CBs?

I am amazed at the amount of knowledge here... I thank you all for your help!

Can't wait!!!

We were in rooms 6045, 6047, and 6049 and had pretty good views of the water pageant.( it was in the north wing and was "inner courtyard") However, my DS-in-L was in room 6035, around the corner from us. Her balcony was the last one before turning the corner again (which would be the 2nd, or extended, courtyard). Her room had a view of the pool and the lake, not the waterfall, like my room, and her room had a better view of the water pageant. Hope this helps....:D

Although WL is a Disney resort, I loved the fact that it was the "least-Disney-in-your-face" kinda place. Though you get the superior service that you would expect from WDW, even the "die-hard" Disney fanatics need to take a break from the "World", and WL is just the place to do it! This is the FIRST resort that we have stayed, where we actually got to enjoy all that it has to offer! I'd stay here again, in a heartbeat....!!:earsgirl:

Hi to all! This is a great thread! I've been reading through it for days, but still haven't managed to read it all. Ya'll made the WL sound so great that I called tonight and booked our October stay there. :D It looks beautiful from the pictures I've seen!

We have a courtyard view booked. I requested a smoking optional room. Even though we never smoke inside the room, we do sometimes smoke on the balcony. Is it OK to smoke on the balcony of a smoking room at WL? I know that may sound like a silly question, but AKL apparently does not allow this. (The CMs told me we *could* when I stayed there. Go figure... )
Also, are any of the inner courtyard rooms smoking optional? I remembered reading that the s/o rooms were on the 5th floor, but am unsure if they are on the side facing the villas only.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Hello all!
I have just spent 4 hours reading all of your posts!!!! My family and I are part of the CBR fiasco and hae upgraded to WL for Sept11-22. We have visited the resort before and thought it was gorgeous. Sounds like it will be everything we could hope for. We kind of need it to be since we have had our trip booked and paid for for a little over a year and 30 days prior to heading south, we find out that they CLOSED OUR WHOLE RESORT!!!!

Everyone has a story, I know, but this trip was planned as a way to see "light at the end of the tunnel"while living through a particularly long and painful death of a family member. We really need the hassle-free, Disney magic experience we have had on three other trips..We really love CBR, but I think we will have a wonderful experience at WL.

I am a little freaked out by the transportation issue. Guess we just take it as it comes. Someone back on page...oh, I don't know...53 maybe? said something about the wait time for the buses was just a chance to add to the anticipation of where you were going. I thought that was lovely and plan to operate that way myself!

999ghsts --You embody what I love about WDW! You go the extra mile and seem to truly care about what you do. Thank you doesn't begin to cover it, but it will have to suffice since we don't know who you are! I hope you get lots of rewards and thank you's in real life. You deserve them for al the time you invest on here.

Every question that I had has been answered thanks to this truly amazing thread.

Except for this....can we see otters (or TRY) from the ground or can the otter pond only be seen from room balconies? Can you walk to it?

Thanks everyone! I posted so that I could earn the right to look for and wear a lime green ribbon!!!

Sandy

999ghsts, Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions! I really appreciate the info!

Hi,
I am new to this board.
I have been reading this for days.
We will be staying at WL in Oct.
We have booked a standard view room.

It may be a silly question.
My husband is a smoker. and we have 2 children (8yd and 11yd)
If we request a non-smoking room,
where does he allow to smoke in resort ?
He can not smoke anywhere in resort ?
I think in United states you are strict for smoker compared with Japan.
I think it is good ,since I am a non smoker.
but my husband is worry about that.
Should we request a smoking room ?
Now we haven't decided which one is better for us.

Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks for the info on the new managment change. You sound delighted at the opportunity.

I'll look forward to our trip back to WL in December.

This will be our 4th trip to the Lodge and our 3rd during the Holiday season. It is just beautifully decorated.

A quick question, do you think they will have the village set up in the lobby (over by the beginning of the stream), by the elevators. That was so beautiful when we saw it on our first stay.

Have a magical day.

:)

Hi all...we're here in Atlanta, first part of trip. Tomorrow is when we surprise dd's. My question is...we have 8:30 ressies at Cindy's on Tues morning. What's the best way to get there? I know I read that somewhere that somebody drove over..but even if we drive, don't we only get dropped at TTC? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Duck

Belley, Hi! Our situations sound very similar. We have two boys who will be 6 and 8 on our October trip. They are the reason that we never smoke in the room (or the house, or the cars, etc.).
For that reason we requested a smoking room. If we so desire, we can go out on the balcony to smoke. It is my understanding that there are no standard rooms that are smoking optional. There were no Woods/Lodge views available for our dates, so I booked a smoking optional Courtyard view.
I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!

While smoking is the subject...I smoke. Others in my group don't and can't bear the smell. I'd like to request a smoking room just to be able to smoke on the balcony. However, I've found more often than not, that a smoking room tends to really smell like smoke even after it's been cleaned. We just returned from Las Vegas and had to do the room switch thing. I took a chance on the smoking room and the smell just knocked you over when you walked in! I'm the smoker so if I can smell it, I know it must be awful! Of course Disney isn't Las Vegas,:) but do the WL rooms suffer the same problem? I'd rather have smoking, but I'd take nonsmoking rather than have others have to put up with the smell!

Hi to all. We just returned from a fabulous week stay at the WL. I had booked two standard rooms. Upon arrival we were upgraded to courtyard rooms. We were in the north wing and overlooking the pool area on the third floor. I had faxed a request prior to arrival and we got everything I asked for plus the free upgrade. Thanks 999 ghosts if you had anything to do with this. The CM who checked us in was Gail and she was wonderful. For all of you going in the future don't worry about the transportation, it was great. We never waited more than ten minutes for boat or bus. Usually it was only 2 or 3. The pattern seemed to be pick WL up first then FW and drop WL off first then FW. If anyone has any other questions I will be happy to answer them. It truely is a great resort.

I keep reading about standard views getting free upgrades to courtyard. I was wondering, what kind of policy is there in place for upgrades? As a purchaser of a woods view, I would like to know if the free upgrades are offered to woods view people first and then passed on down or ... ?
