Definitely avoid the DTD area - there is much traffic, lots of traffic lights, and construction going on!

AMEN!! This is the Gospel Truth! :p What a pain it is to navigate this area (been this way for a few years now...are they ever going to finish?!?). It takes WAY too long to get anywhere using this area/route. Follow Kimmar's advice, avoid this area.

Kimmar...sounds as if your room/view was heavenly. I LOVE the waterfalls, and would adore viewing them daily. My view takes in the Spaceship Earth, BC & YC, BW, Epcot World showcase & the lake! It's quite beautiful (as you know), and I try to "burn" it deeply into my Long Term memory for the upcoming winter months!;)

Did you use WL bus trans. each day, or your own car to get around? Which do you prefer/recommend? Time to get out and "SEE THE WORLD!" Today: LUAU @ POLY...5:15 pm, RAIN or SHINE!! TTFN...moi:sunny:

Thanks for your advise, 999ghsts. We definately need closer to the lobby. Am traveling with DM (70) and while she's h___ on wheels at the parks, she's pooped out later and doesn't want to trek all over the resort to get to room.

We weren't thrilled with room last year at WL (over otter pond) and hadn't planned on going back. But with the CBR mess I wanted to get confirmed somewhere fast. We're hopefull that a courtyard room will be much brighter. The last room felt like it was we were 60 miles from home in the mountains and not at all like we were at DISNEYWORLD.

Really appreciate the thread and your help...

Hightown,
That is the appeal of the Wilderness Lodge. The feeling that you are in a remote place but yet so close to everything when you need to be. Please give it another chance, I think it will grow on you. It is the only place I care to stay, even over the GF and Poly.

I am trying to put together a large group dinner for a non-park day and thinking about Artist Point. My question is whether or not Wilderness Lodge by the lake is a good place to view the MK fireworks? Thought that might be a fun thing to do after we eat.

? for anyone -

Do any of the 6th floor Standards have bunks?

We are traveling with dd- 8 and ds- 1 and a half.
DS doesn't sleep in a crib and when we went to Jellystone Park in th WHite Mountains last week they had bunks - worked great we didn't have to waste floor space with a porta-crib!

It might be worth an upgrade if I had to!
THanks in advance

999 ghosts,

First of all, thanks for being here for us! I Know that you like to protect your identity, but I really hope your employers know what a special employee they have in you!

Now, my question. I've heard you describe the 4th floor standard rooms over the front desk as having a view of rooftops. I'm trying to get a picture of this in my mind. Do you mean that when you sit on the balcony you see rooftops then trees beyond that? Or are the rooftops the only thing you can see? Are they the green metal-looking roofs (I think those are cute because they remind me of my children's Lincoln Logs, lol).

Thanks!

Kaycee :D

Hi Kimmar,

Glad to hear the WL was everything you had hoped for!! We fly down on Monday morning and the excitment is building!!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Your waterfall view room sounds exactly like what we hope to get but I'm sure whatever our view is it will be a great trip!!

Thanks for the tip about the refillable mugs. I'm not muc of a soda drinker, so I'm hoping ice tea will be available for those mugs. :teeth:

Wondering if you used the pool in the afternoons and how crowded it was?? We intend to come back & rest up each afternoon and enjoy the beauty of the WL.

Thanks again and welcome home.

Adrienne:wave:

Ok all, we leave for Atlanta tonight then onto the World for Monday. Woohoo! Still can't believe we haven't told dd's yet. Just want to send out a big thanks to everyone for all their help and advice (especially 999ghosts!!). If I don't get a chance to get back online this afternoon, I'll post a trip report when we return.

Chance's Mom, Melomouse, and ARS---look for our ribbons! Ooops, better go throw that in the suitcase right now. I hope I don't forget anything!!!
Bye everyone and thanks again!:p :p :p
Duck

Duck- Have a wonderful time! I can't believe you haven't let your secret slip yet;) Hope to see you at the Lodge--I've been chekcing the weather. Looks like next week is 90 everyday, with scattered thunderstorms-just what we are prepared for:)

I'll be looking for twin DDs!
Bye:wave:

Duck,

Have a safe trip to WDW. When do you plan to arrive on the 12th.
We're flying out of Philly at 8am on Monday and I imagine we'll be at WL by noon time (just in time for lunch at Whispering Canyons!- Hurray!) You must be so excited about surprising your little ones (when my girls were little that was always one of my favorite things to do, but now they are getting too old for surprises - they figure them out all the time-LOL!)

Didn't know if I would do the "ribbon" thing because I've been a "silent" participant these past 4 months but maybe I will. My daugthers would enjoy meeting your little ones - My "little" girls are 22 and 19, years not months - LOL! :D My oldest DD is a CM at our local Disney Store. :earsgirl:

Happy traveling and I'll listen for those "happy squeals of joy" as you arrive at WL! :teeth:

I'm going to start packing today!! & buy some lime green ribbon!

See you at the "Happiest Place on Earth"

Ask for the server named Jeffro (like Jeffro Bodeen!) He was SOOOOO funny!! (He shoulda been called "butter" cuz' he was ON A ROLL!!:teeth: -lol-)

ARS,duck_adoo, Chance's Mom:
May you all have a SAFE JOURNEY, wonderful experiences, and memorable stories to tell... sending PIXIE DUST OUT TO ALL OF YOU ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

About the rooms...
If you are in the North wing, the even numbered rooms face MK (doesn't mean you necessarily SEE the Contemorary or MK!) and the odd numbered rooms face the inner court and pool. The higher the last 2 numbers of your room, the closer to the lobby will be....right, 999?

kimmar, waiting to read all of your trip reports, restaurants, CBR, WL... How did you like the hottubs.... They were my favorite... Corvair amy

...I thought the hot tubs were very relaxing, but I thought that the water temp. would be hotter. The tub closer to the pool was the hotter of the two; it was so nice to sit in it, sipping on a "Green Geyser" (remember, "guys", ask for a Green Geyser (or a coqui`[pronounced "Koh-KEE"] at the Trout Pass bar near the pool. 999ghsts, you have to help me out with the gal's name (she has shoulder-length light brown/blond hair), because she is the only one who will know what you are talking about....;) !!)

....I just finished posting "Day One" on the Trip Reports Board under the thread "Day One-Invasion of the Marino's", if anyone is interested......(happy reading!!:sunny: )

DH and I will be arriving at WL on 9/2. I'm wondering about parking. What do you usually do? Valet or self-park? We will be driving from Tampa, but once we are on the WDW resort property, we rarely (if ever) use our car again.

When we stayed at the Poly we used valet, but paying $6/day for a luxury we never used seemed excessive and wasteful. (Six bucks isn't much, but $42 for the entire week could well pay for a meal!!)

Is self-parking convenient enough that we could carry our own bags (2 suitcases and a shoulder bag) from the parking lot? Let me know what you think. I'd really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks a WHOLE bunch!!!

Aring75,
Definitely use self park. Just use one of the bell hops to get your luggage. They work off tips, so just tip what you want. Then park car in self park and it is a short walk back to the Lodge, maybe 5 -7 minutes from the furtherest spot.

Only been back for 5 days and writing the trip reports put me over the edge. Called and reserved WL July 19-27, 2003. Now I just have to wait and see if any good codes come out.
