NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

I've been reading this thread for days and can't thank you enough for the WEALTH of info. I'm finally ready to make my ressies and was hoping for some advice.

There will be 5 in our party, so I need a deluxe room, right? I would really like a view of the water pageant and a lobby room. Is it possible to have both? Also would like to have an open-style balcony, and....oh yeah...would LOVE to see the castle. I know I am asking for the moon and the stars, but how much of that is reasonable, and how should I word the request? We will be going in October following a 3 day cruise, and I'm already so excited I can't stand it.

Thanks!!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Can anyone help me out a little bit with rates? I stayed at Wilderness Lodge in May 1996 in a woods view room. We paid full rack rate. Does anyone know what this would have actually cost? I think it was regular season back then. I'm trying to figure out how much we've spent on rooms during all our WDW trips (to see how many times we would have paid for a DVC contract, LOL!).

Thanks! ;)

Hello all!! You all have been so great with all the posts, that I have learned so much about our upcoming trip i feel like the info is swimming in my head!!LOL My question is this--We currently have a deluxe room reserved for 6 nights. Will we be saving more if we get 2 connecting rooms ? Im afraid that the codes that come out for May 2003 will not apply to the Deluxe rooms, but that if we can get codes on both roomswe could potentially be saving alot of money. Not to sound like cheap skates, we are planning on the fact that we may not get ANY codes for the time of our visit. However, we are realistic too in that we are a family raising 3 children, and want to be able to do the best with what we have. KWIM??? Any advice or input is of course appreciated.

I would check into the connecting rooms. I had a deluxe room booked for December with a DC discount, but after talking to Jean at Magical Journeys, I now have two connecting rooms booked. With the codes, Jean saved me over $400 on a seven night stay.

try mouse savers.com, she has 2002, and 2003 rack rates posted, just click on wdw and resorts and scroll down.:D goofy4mickey48

Just wanted to say that we are leaving tomorrow and I will be back with a full review on rooms, noise levels, pool, transportation, restaurants, CM's, etc...

999ghsts, I know you won't be there when I check in, but if there are any left over cow cookies from Wisconsin, when you come to work on Wed, they are from us :D

...we're right behind you!!;) (leaving on Friday!!!) Have a SUPER trip; I know 999ghsts will see to it that you are well taken care of. Don't forget to wear your lime green ribbon:rolleyes:....

I'll be at WDW in:
4 days - 8 minutes - HOORAY!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Ditto, I know the feeling....;) I keep checking and rechecking everything that I've packed so far. I feel anxious about feeling like I am forgetting something. Lately, though, I have been adopting a new attitude ~ don't sweat the small stuff! Worst case scenario: if you don't have it, take out the "plastic" and just buy it there! As long as you have clean underwear (see, Mom, all those years of drilling it into my head really paid off!!) a few change of clothes, things to keep your body clean and smelling fresh as a daisy, and comfortable shoes, basically, you are ALL SET!!!! (of course, my DS's are WAY PAST the stage of diapers, baby food, strollers, etc.;) )

REMEMBER: HAVE FUN, and , if something IS forgotten, you'll probably laugh about it years from now.....:earsgirl:

Thanks for the reply, that helps a lot.

Question; when making the reservation should I request by specific room number, or would it be better to just ask for 'water pagaent view'? Would it be frowned upon to be so specific?

Also, tried to reserve with the new discount codes this morning and was told they didn't apply to deluxe rooms. Is this always the case?

You will now find me lurking here on the WL FAQ! I am so excited! We are going to the WL for the first time in November/December! I requested a courtyard view (only thing available with the new code) with bunk beds on the 5th floor in the north wing. I know I am asking for too much and I really don't care where they put me...we will be at WL! Hooray!!!!!!!

Hi all

Count me as another new addition to this thread!! I just used the DC mousesavers code this morning to book 3 nites at WL in Oct. I already have the govt rate booked at the Dolphin and didn't dream I would have the chance at another deluxe resort for near the price and then today, BINGO. Just a few dollars more and we're in!! I'm very excited to stay at WL!!. I was SO tempted to switch our entire stay but I think we're going to keep 5 days at the Dolphin mainly because of the Epcot/MGM location. Can anyone give feedback on switching resorts mid vacation? Is it a huge hassle? Ideally I would have liked to have done 4 and 4 but if we're going to move I want to do it on a day we have scheduled in as a non park day. Can't wait to read all your advice/tips!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Johndavid,

Seriously???? Wow that is quite a savings, myabe this is really something we should do... Do you know did the room discounts apply to both rooms??? This is very interesting.........TIA!!

Lucki4- Have a fantastic time! Can't wait to hear your report so I can live my experience all over again! :D

Kimmar- Not long now!!! Like you said, whatever you forget you can pick up down there...but you seem like an organized person (you're a teacher afterall! LOL!) I'm sure you've left nothing out of your "plans"!;) I'll be thinking of you and envying you while you're gone. You will just love it!!!

I envy you both! I just got my pictures back from my trip to WL and it makes me so anxious to go again! Sit in a big, cushioned, wooden chair with the wide arm rests for me.....I wish I could bring one of those chairs home! You will not want to get up after you sit in one of those!

:D :Pinkbounc Doing the happy dance for both of you!:Pinkbounc :D

Since the search function seems to be disabled, I have to ask a question that I'm sure has already been asked. Is the Wilderness Lodge still down to one tour or have they started the food tour again?

I was at the WL in Sept. 2000 and return in Sept. 2002. Arriving on a Saturday, taking the afternoon tour was a nice afternoon break after travel before heading into the crush for the MSEP at the MK.

By the way, you should check out the pictures of the Lincoln Log Wilderness Lodge on the wdwinfo website. That's a souvenir I'm already eager to buy.

Yes, I cannot believe we will soon be at Disneyworld. I will be sure to post everything about this wonderful resort when we get back....!!

duck_adoo and Chance's Mom:
Many thanks for all the good wishes. It won't be long now til' you both are there too!! (although it seems as if it'll NEVER get here!!;) )

WiscMomof2:
Welcome to the DIS and especially to the WL FAQ! I hope you have found this thread to be, not only informative, but entertaining as well:D !! Since we are doing a "split/stay" this time (CBR first followed by WL) I will post to let you know how smoothly (or "un"smoothly!!) it went. You should definitely keep your ressies for the "D"; we stayed there in November and it was FANTASTIC!! You just can't beat the location....

Pluto14:
Yes, those "teacher skills" always seem to kick in when you need them the most! (lol) If possible, could you scan your pics ~ I'd LOVE to see 'em:rolleyes: !!

Countdown to WDW:
4 days - 14 hours - 6 minutes - Feel like I'm jumpin' outta my skin!

Addendum:
Pluto14 ~
I know about those chairs...we had ressies for dinner at WC but we still had a 20-minute wait. We started to "explore" the lobby, when I came upon one of those chairs. I sat down momentarily, and the next thing I knew, I had fallen asleep!!! Not cool, with drool....:earseek:
