999Ghsts & other WL pros...

if you had your pick, which courtyard view room on the 6th (and 7th) floor would you choose to stay in? We saw the rooms that are on the ends of the wings that overlook the lake and they looked amazing... but we'd like to have some possibilities to list on the fax so we have a better chance. ;)

We just got back from an 8-day trip staying off-property (Wyndham Palace in the Hotel Plaza) and had a WONDERFUL time, even though it was hot enough to melt.

The traffic pattern around DD is very confusing - hopefully it will be cleared up soon - there's a lot of construction going on there.

Since the trip went so well, we're going back in December - from the 13th through the 17th, and it's our first stay at WL. I'm SO excited!

After reading through all the posts here, we elected to go with a Courtyard view... I'm hoping that we'll get offerered the opportunity to upgrade to Concierge when we get there :jester:

Thanks in advance!

:) Hi to everyone getting ready for your trip! Have lots of fun and say Hi to Mickey for me!:D We are getting close also! We check in on Sunday, Aug. 4th! Is it possible to over plan?lol This is our first stay at WL and I don't think we could be more excited!! Thanks to everyone for the GREAT info! Maybe I'll even see some fellow Disers or the ever helpful 999 ghsts! Again, have a ball and enjoy!!!:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

Thanks (once again:)) 999ghsts, I didn't realize 5034 didn't have a connecting door, and I'll request it but it's fine if we get any of the rooms in the North wing without connecting doors. As much as I'd love a castle view, I'd prefer a "quiet" room more. SO, I'd be very happy with any of those.

I have this cool picture I took back in '97 from the CR roof of the WL North side so I can see where those North Wing rooms are located.

First, this is mainly to 999ghts, but anyone can answer, Do you prefer it for guests who are hoping for upgrade to specifiy it in a fax they sent you? I would love the honeymoon suite for our honeymoon, but i know there is no way i can afford it.
Let me interject by saying - I don't expect ANY more then i'm paying for in a room - I know any upgrade i would get is a GIFT, I don't expect disney, or any other hotel to upgrade me. I know some times it happens though, and heres my dilema, i just want to know that i didn't screw up the small chance i might get upgraded by not asking for it, or vise versa, asking for it and coming across as if i'm demanding it.

someone on another thread posted a link <a href=http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/asp/movie.asp?request=listMovies&cat=resort&location=WildernessLodge> of picutes</a> and i've been stairing at the honeymoon suite all night. That tub looks SO inviting.

Yes, i Know its just a room, and i'll have a great honeymoon either way, and not just cause i'm in disney, though that will help, but just cause i'm with my brand new husband :) but i just had to ask.
Thanks for all your time and info 999ghts, this thread wouldn't be the same without you.

This is a great place. Yes, I'm one of the lurkers. I lurke every morning, noon and night.

whtyger97 - this is a great place for a honeymoon. You'll enjoy your stay.

I was so happy to get the "code" yesterday and saved a bunch of $$. :D

I do have a question too. Is there smoking just on the 5th floor, villa side. Or is it all floors?

Thanks, I cannot wait the 5 months, til we'll be at Disney again.

:)

I've been lurking on this thread, planning a trip for my DH and DS to WL. We are WDW regulars, and have stayed at almost all the deluxes, but never at the WL. (Due to crazy family schedules, I went to AKL with other two kids in June).
DH and DS leave tomorrow, and I faxed a request hoping to get them a 5th floor room with an MK view - wish them luck!
Thanks to all the pros on this board for their helpful info.
Also, is it too late for them to ask about being a flag family while they're there?

Hope these haven't been answered before. The search function isn't working properly right now and I don't have the patience to read through this entire thread.

DH and I are finally seeing our dream of staying at WL come true (well - sort of) by renting points from a DVC owner and staying at the VWL in October.

We haven't toured WL since VWL has opened - so I'm a little confused about some things...

1. Is there a separate entrance/lobby and check in for the villas?
2. Is there a separate parking area?
3. Can someone staying at the villas request to be the flag family?
4. Will be disappointed that we're not in the main lodge?
5. We are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary while there. Is it tacky to mention that to the CM on check-in (thinking maybe we'd receive a little surprise - but not EXPECTING it)? If it's not tacky - how exactly does one drop that little hint? "We're here celebrating our wedding anniversary. It's Thursday."

Thanks (in advance) everyone!

Hi all we just got back yesterday we had a relly nice stay
5th floor room 5008 this is in the front of the building on the north side you can just see the end of the driveway
we could not see the castle because of trees

i would be happy to answer any questions

At the last minute while one the phone I upgraded from POFQ to Wilderness! THe new rates I couldn't resist!
I hope i made the right choice!
How child friendly is it?
DD-8 and DS-2
I am VERY nervous! I researched POFQ for a long time too - now I can't find anything on Wilderness?

Hello All! I just booked the WL for one night for my husband and me on Nov 1. We are very excited to try a new resort. We wanted to go to MNSSHP, and so planned the very short trip. This will also be to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.

I have some questions about room requests. We have a courtyard view room booked. We will be arriving at DW on Nov 1 and leaving Nov 2, so we will just be exploring the resort, and taking the boat over to MK for MNSSHP. I also have very bad feet (tendons or fractures - doctors can't decide) and am undergoing a lot of tests. My question is, what would you all recommend for a room request? I was thinking inner courtyard on the north side, nonsmoking. If I request close to the boat dock end (to decrease walking to and from dock), will we still have a good view? Is there anything I should know about courtyard rooms toward the end? Also, how long of a walk is it from the end on the north side to the loby?

Thank you for all of your help!!

I'm thinking of requesting one of the Courtyard lobby rooms for our upcoming trip. I was wondering if any of the rooms on the 5th or the one on the 6th floor had bunkbeds or only queen beds...Thanks!

Oh...one more question...

We are thinking of upgrading to concierge upon arrival if it is available. If so, are there rooms on the 7th floor that still have this lobby/courtyard location available. Thanks!

999ghsts-
Thank you in advanced - I know from reading this post you will have the perfect answer for me!

I just booked our first trip standard room - me, DH, DD-8 and DS-2 we requested connecting rooms through our agent with Dfriend and his DD-9.

Here is my question - Having DS-2 I am worried about distance from exits and entries. But I would like a decent view to enjoy while DS sleeps! :) What would you recommend!

And Again - THANK YOU

What is a courtyard lobby room like in terms of location and view?
Does it have access via the lobby area, and a balcony on the oposite side overlooking the courtyard?

999ghsts!

First of all - you're great!! You are just a wellspring of information - and we all appreciate you sharing it.

We're staying at the Lodge from Nov. 30 through Dec. 7. This is our 4th trip - but the first staying here.

Could you please tell me what king rooms (numbers if you have them) and how many there are in courtyard view that are NOT handicapped? (I know there's not many) My husband is very tall - and I would like to request a king bed - but I can't stand showers (too many times watching Psycho - I guess). I would like to request a king - but if they don't have one that is not handicapped - we would prefer two queens. Will this confuse people?

We had a problems with this last year at Coronado Springs. We actually paid more for the king bed - and I specified on the reservation that we REALLY didn't want handicapped. Also - we were "guaranteed" non-smoking because I have asthma. Well - at check in (and this was last November and the resort was no where near full) last year - they gave us a handicapped king room that was smoking. When I complained that at least we were guaranteed a non-smoking room - they were very rude. If requesting a king bed will take me through all that business again - I would just as soon pass.

Although from everything I've heard - the CMs at Wilderness Lodge are among the best - so hopefully we can at least get the non-smoking. Any thoughts or suggestions you have would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!!:)

Now that we've booked WL again for our trip in December, I was looking through the photos I took last time trying to mull over where a good courtyard room might be. Could anyone tell me what the range of room numbers would be in the South Wing which directly face the geyser and pool, just past the lobby section?
From the photo it looks like there is the lobby section, then a section that juts out from there in the waterfall area, then the longer part of the wing that juts out again parallel to the pool area. The section I was thinking might be nice is in that section facing east to the pool/geyser right past the lobby . Hope that wasn't too confusing! Thanks a bunch!

I can't believe WL is totally booked 11/30 -12/7! I tried this morning, but was told there was no availability until 12/9. Did the codes have that much of an effect on booking, or is something else going on?

We just booked two standard rooms at the Wilderness Lodge starting on Dec 9- Dec 12.....the pictures are beautiful..
I know our decision to go was totally based on the new codes that were released
What are the restaurants and food court like at the lodge?

Ok, I'm calmed down from yesterday's case of codeitis. We had a woodsview room booked, but when I tried to apply the CKO code, there were none available for our dates (wow, that was at 8:10 AM yesterday) of 11/22-29. So, I did the only logical thing...I upgraded us to a courtyard room and still saved $333 for the 7 nights we'll be there. Then my little brain started wonder.....hmmmm, wonder if the code works on concierge. The CM checked for me and it was all sold out. Oh well, so much for living large at the Lodge. Oh well, I'm just glad to be going to the WL!

All we requested was a non-smoking bunk bed room. Here's the catch, now I have to read the entire 35 pages of this post again to get a "feel" for the views of the courtyard. I don't think I'll request a certain view/room, but I just want to get a mental picture in my head.

This is a great thread, it would be great to know what view the room is when a poster has reviewed a particular room location.

My SIL just got back from the Contemporary, and she said that her family LOVED the water mice. Here are my questions -- thanks in advance!

Does WL have water mice?

If so, is there a "family marina plan" like the one at the Contemporary? They paid about $200 and had unlimited use of the water mice for their whole family. I think this is something we'd really use.

...MrsPete, that I would like answered also, since my 3 DS's (and DH!) plan on renting the "Mickey boats"!! (that's what THEY call 'em:D )
