I have not been on Weight Watchers for a couple of years. From what I have read it seemed to change (pointsplus). Is it really that different? Deciding if I should spend the money and start up again.

I have been doing it for about 4 weeks, and I can't say enough good things about it. It's SOOO much easier than the old points system. Fruits and vegetables are all zero points, so I find myself eating a lot more of those than I used to. Ive lost 8.8 lbs in 4 weeks. I have about 30 to go. I'm excited to be on my way, doing something I think I can continue!

They've reconfigured it - most things are more points now, but you get more points per day. Best thing - fruit is free! :thumbsup2

Love it!!! I have been doing the online program since January 1st and have lost 31 pounds so far. I just started working out too. This is my 4th time on Weight Watchers and this is the most weight I have ever lost and the longest I have stuck to it. In the past I would usually get to week 8 or so and decide to quit. I feel so much more satisfied with this new program and feel like I am making better choices.

I see they sell the program online or books/package on ebay has anyone tried both and what would you recommend?
Thanks
Kelly

My suggestion is to go to a meeting and get the program explained and get the new counter. I love online but I think you will have a better understanding to get off to a positive start.

I've been on WW several times and had some success staying on it. The pointsplus just seems easier to stay on. I think it's the free fruit and 49 weekly points that make it a long term thing. I like tracking on my phone app much better than writing it all down. I never tracked in the past. Now I am doing it daily. Big, big help!!

WW is great and the new program is very easy to follow. I have been doing it a while so started on old program and now am on new program. I have lost 62lbs. and I am on my last 9. If you can I recommend going to the meetings because you do get a lot of support and ideas. Good luck, there is also an on going WW thread on the Wish section of boards, check us out.

I still do the old points program because I don't go to meetings or pay for the online. I had went to meetings for about 6 months and they just became to repetitive for me. I have lost 100 lbs on the old points system and figured if it worked, then lets keep doing it! Although on the old system your supposed to count fruits and veggies and I never did. I kinda tweaked it for me.

I rejoined ww for like the tenth time two weeks ago an LOVE the new program!! I am not getting discouraged or tired of it or wanting "cheat" days or any of the other things that I ususally do to sabatoge my self.

Its easy to stay within the number of points I have each day. I don't really get hungry and loving the fruit I can eat. I used to be bad about saying "oh I can eat anything, let me get a candy bar and just count it" and then run out of points and then just say "well that blows today, I will start over tomorrow". I don't crave the something sweet anymore and if I do I grab one of those wonderful peaches I bought this week.

Not too long ago I posted on another thread that WW doesn't work for me, well I am having to eat those words!

I love it too. I'm 10 pounds down in 1 month and couldn't be happier. I set a goal to run the Disney Family Fun Run 5k in October (I think it's 10/1/11 or 09/31/11) so that is ALWAYS in the back of my mind and may help me stay on track. However, the new program is the easiest to stick to, IMO. I find it much easier to accommodate special events and outings with the 40+ extra points/week and free fruit.

The free fruit is huge.

I've also hired a personal trainer 2x/week and that has helped me a lot.

I recommend going to a meeting to get a formal introduction to the program. However, there is so much variability in the WW leaders, I hope you get a good one. I've been to some really bad meetings in my 20+ years on/off WW and a bad leader can kill your desire to attend meetings. A good leader will keep the group engaged and elicit personal experiences and tips from members, without letting any one member dominate the meeting. Good luck finding a good leader, they're worth their weight in gold, IMO.

I think it's so much easier than the old program. Fruits and veggies are now all 0 points and thing like 100-calorie packs are 3-4pts when they use dto be 2. It really makes you rethink what you eat when you can have a huge salad or fruit salad for little to no points.

My husband and I have been on it for 2 months and I'm now down 13lbs (ignore my ticker, it's off, lol, I need to update it after yesterday's weigh in). It's slow but I'm never hungry and I still get to eat almost everything I normally would, just in smaller portions or make them healthier.

I'm paying $40 per month on the prepaid plan (going to meetings - not just online, that is cheaper). I think if you pay weekly at the meetings it might be $13.95 now. You can look on their website and it gives you the payment options - I believe there are 3 choices.

But I tried online more than once and it never worked for me. I was successful going to meetings in the past, so for me, I know that I need the accountability of going to the meeting every week. I have only lost a little over 5 pounds in my first 3 weeks, so it is slow but I hope that's what will make it stick vs. gaining it back this time.

Our WW leader had a quote from some member she told us recently. That member stated that "she would never do anything to lose weight that she wouldn't do to maintain it later (which pretty much nixes the grapefruit diet, all packaged foods programs, Slim-Fast, etc.). Which is so sensible and true - so slow loss while eating all your regular foods, just in moderation, is really the way to do it.

Another happy loser

We started Weight Watchers At Work on April 6th; I've lost 15 pounds as of yesterday! :thumbsup2

I have done the old program and it does seem to work a little better.

Thank you so much for the cost info -- that is less than I thought it would be - might be looking into it!!!

Could anyone give me a ballpark idea on how much joining WW will cost?

It varies some among different locales -- it's $13 a week here. It looks like they're not doing a joining fee at the moment, so you'll pay whatever the weekly fee is each week. You can save a little by paying monthly or for several months -- I don't do that b/c I'm Lifetime and don't pay for missed meetings.

I've not done Points Plus, but I'm thinking seriously about going back.

You can do online and unlimited meetings for 39.95/month. This is the cheapest option. It's also the best of both worlds.... :goodvibes

I decided to try the online plan for 3 months since they were offering free sign up. I just started today. I hope it goes well. Are there any DIS WW threads? Just curious.

In my area it's $39 registration and 1st meeting, then $13 a week.

My WW has specials for people on certain insurance providers. I have Cigna and the registration fee/1st week fee was $24.
